Chapter 63: The Enemy Hidden in the Shadows

“Hey, why are you walking so fast? In a hurry to pee?” Long Tian was practically dragged away from the airport by Ye Feng.
“I think what happened on the plane was targeted at us two. I’m worried that person might strike again, so we need to stay away from crowded places.” Ye Feng glanced around. “Besides, with what happened on the plane, if we had been a bit later, we’d have been surrounded by media asking for interviews.”
“Otherwise, come back to my place with me first. Going to school might cause trouble for your classmates. You’ve only just reached the Innate Realm—you’ll be in trouble against stronger opponents! After this is settled, you can take the computer back to New York.” Long Tian was worried.
“Uncle Tie and the others are gone. Who’s still alive after that incident last time?” Ye Feng didn’t want to bring it up, but he had no choice now.
“Qing Lang and Xiao Liu Zi—their strength is too weak. I had them sent away as soon as the fight started,” Long Tian shook his head. “That’s about all who’re left.”
“If it weren’t for that traitor Pang Lin, Lao Zhao and the others wouldn’t have died. Such a despicable guy who stabs people from behind!” Long Tian clenched his fist. “If not for him, Lao Tie and the others might have survived!”
“Is that guy still alive?” Ye Feng frowned.
“He was killed by Lao Tie. But Lao Tie was also injured trying to kill him. Otherwise, he could have escaped with me…” Long Tian knew about Lao Tie handing him over to Ling Kai.
“Then how do we find Qing Lang and the others now?” Ye Feng looked at Long Tian.
“I have his number!” Long Tian took out his phone and dialed a number.
“Qing Lang, it’s Long Tian. I’m with Ye Feng now. Where are you?” As soon as the call connected, Long Tian spoke without waiting for the other party to respond.
Unexpectedly, it was Xiao Liu Zi’s excited voice on the other end, “Boss, it’s Brother Long!”
“Give me the phone!” Long Tian heard a voice coming from further away.
“Sorry, Brother Long. I’m in the bathroom… I left the phone in the living room…” Qing Lang apologized.
“Where are you now? Ye Feng and I will be there right away!” Long Tian wasn’t willing to waste time.
“Where are you? I’ll have Xiao Liu and the others go pick you up! It’s hard to explain our exact location over the phone,” Qing Lang explained.

“That works too. We’re outside XS Airport now—hurry over!” Long Tian nodded.
“We’ll be there in half an hour! You guys rest there for now. I’ll have Xiao Liu call you once we get there.” Qing Lang hung up.
“Xiao Liu, go to the airport and pick up Brother Long and Mr. Ye!” Qing Lang shouted from outside the restroom. “Hurry—we must get there within half an hour! Take my phone and call Brother Long once you arrive.”
“Oh, I’m on my way!” Xiao Liu covered his nose, took Qing Lang’s phone, and rushed out.
“Do you think the person controlling those snakes is targeting us?” Long Tian suddenly asked.
“Probably! The others are just ordinary people; it’s unlikely they’d get involved in something like this. And it’s only targeting people in our cabin—only we could be the targets,” Ye Feng analyzed. “The person controlling those snakes must also be on the plane.”
“That’s why he didn’t let the snakes spread to other cabins and cause the plane to crash,” Long Tian nodded.
“A plane crash would also trigger an investigation by the Long Group—that’s another reason he doesn’t dare do that. After all, if such a strange incident caused heavy casualties, the Long Group would definitely get involved in the investigation.”
“That guy is likely in the same cabin as us!” After Ye Feng’s reminder, Long Tian suddenly realized something. “Even if someone in the same cabin is bitten to death by snakes, the Long Group will definitely investigate it. So the only explanation is that he never intended for the snakes to bite anyone else from the start. He knew we’d try to save others, so he could take the chance to control those venomous snakes and strike when we were distracted.”
“That also explains why, during the first minute or so, after the first snake caused panic, it didn’t attack anyone,” Ye Feng said. Now that Long Tian mentioned it, he remembered that after the first snake came out of the restroom, it only made threatening noises at everyone without attacking anyone.
That made no sense—under such a noisy environment, an agitated cold-blooded animal would usually attack the first living thing in sight and then flee. The only explanation was that the snake was under control, suppressing its instinct to attack on its own.

“Those who can control such things either have supernatural abilities like speaking snake language or are experts in using poisons. Pearl has already left, so it can’t be her. Pearl used to have a subordinate named Zuo Qiu, who was also killed by you…” Long Tian tried to find some clues but came up with nothing.
“Zuo Qiu?” Ye Feng remembered the guy who fought against Uncle Tie and was eventually killed by him. “Could someone be trying to avenge him? Does he have any relatives?”
“As far as I know, Zuo Qiu had a master, a freelance cultivator who was said to be an expert at the innate realm as well, with extraordinary skills in poisons. But few people have ever seen him.” Long Tian shared the information he had.
“If I had known this, I should have worn a detector on the plane!” Ye Feng was frustrated. With the enemy hidden while he was exposed, it really annoyed him.
“Xiao Feng, don’t use that thing too often—it will lower your alertness! Actually, for us, intuition is very important. Detecting killing intent and sensing threats require practice to sharpen our senses.” Hearing this, Long Tian frowned slightly. “If you get used to relying on such devices, you might suffer when facing experts at the same level!”
“I know. In fact, I never used a detector during my missions in the U.S. because I also noticed what you said.” Ye Feng understood that though Long Tian seemed to be blaming him, he was actually trying to help.
“That’s good! This time, we’ll rely on our strength to deal with him. Treat it as a game—don’t use it as a cheat to end it too quickly!” Long Tian patted Ye Feng’s shoulder.
“Although it’s not pleasant to feel watched from the shadows, it sounds interesting!” Ye Feng nodded.
At that moment, Long Tian’s phone rang again. He answered it and then looked at Ye Feng. “He’s at the airport entrance. Let’s go!”
