Chapter 85: The Guardian of the Second Domain
With over two hours left, Ye Feng sent his mental energy into the Void Domain, hoping to share the good news that he had unlocked the Second Domain with Boy.
But to his surprise, after searching the entire First Domain, he couldn’t find Boy anywhere.
“What exactly happened? Why is Boy gone again?” Ignoring everything else, Ye Feng fully activated the Void Domain and stepped inside.
“Boy! It’s Ye Feng! Where are you?” Ye Feng shouted loudly in the Human Realm, but all he heard was echoing sounds.
Standing in the midst of the towering shelves, Ye Feng frowned deeply. He didn’t understand why Boy had disappeared. He tried hard to figure out the reason but found little clue. “Could it be… he’s gone to the Second Domain?”
With this thought, Ye Feng pushed open the gate of the First Domain. Standing before it, he shouted, “I’m going to the Second Domain!”
As soon as his voice faded, the gate of the First Domain began to change, turning into another stone door.
Above the stone door were inscribed the three characters: “Cultivation Realm.”
Ye Feng stepped forward and touched it, and the gate automatically opened.
Without hesitation, he stepped inside and called out, “Boy! Are you here?”
“Are you the new authorized user of the Void Domain?” At that moment, a strange voice came from behind Ye Feng. Though young, Ye Feng knew right away it wasn’t Boy without even turning around.
“That’s right. Who are you?” Ye Feng turned around and saw that it was just a teenager, barely out of puberty, with a voice still carrying a hint of immaturity.
“I’m the guardian of the Second Domain—Ed!” Ed merely watched Ye Feng from a distance, his gaze neither wary nor emotional, as if Ye Feng were just a statue before him.
“Do you know where Boy is?” Ye Feng took two steps forward.
Ed seemed uncomfortable with people getting close. Seeing this, he frowned slightly. “I know, but I can’t tell you!”
“What did he do wrong again? Or did I do something wrong?” Seeing Ed’s unfriendly expression, Ye Feng stopped moving forward and simply asked from where he stood.
“Does it matter whether he’s alive or dead? Anyway, you’re already familiar with the First Domain!” Ed remained expressionless.
“Of course it matters! If the Void Realm would eliminate the guardian of the first realm just because I activated the second realm, then the rules of the Void Realm are far too cruel! Boy hasn’t done anything wrong—he shouldn’t be locked here, nor should he be bound by these absurd rules!” Ye Feng was angry at Ed’s indifference, but what angered him even more were the Void Realm’s illogical rules.
“He isn’t dead. After the second realm was activated, the role of the first realm’s guardian was temporarily fulfilled. He was sent to another part of the Void Realm for further cultivation.” Ed’s expression remained cold. “Also, if you’re unhappy with the rules here, then get stronger. Don’t waste time talking nonsense! If one day you can fully control the Void Realm, you can set your own rules. As it is now, you’re far too weak!”
Ye Feng was left speechless after being scolded by Ed and stood there, not knowing what to do for a long time.
“I’ll introduce the second realm first!” Ed ignored Ye Feng’s strange expression and walked over to a shelf on his own.
“The second realm is called the Cultivation Realm. Here, you can buy all kinds of items from the cultivation world—pills, weapons, spiritual beasts, various materials for refining, and various items infused with spiritual energy. In short, as long as it belongs to the cultivation world, you can obtain it by paying the corresponding second-tier realm value.”
“There’s one more way to acquire realm value compared to the first realm. The basic currency in the cultivation world is Spirit Stones, while the higher-tier currency is Spirit Crystals. Spirit Crystals contain a large amount of energy that can aid in cultivation. One Spirit Stone can be exchanged for 1 point of second-tier realm value, one lower-grade Spirit Crystal for 1,000 points, one middle-grade Spirit Crystal for 10,000 points, and one high-grade Spirit Crystal for 100,000 points! If you want to obtain them by killing someone, you must kill someone who has broken through the Innate realm to get second-tier realm value!”
“One more thing I must tell you: high-tier realm value can be directly converted into lower-tier realm value. But when converting lower-tier realm value into high-tier realm value, a 10% fee is deducted. That is, 1 point of second-tier realm value can be exchanged for 1,000 points of first-tier realm value, but 1,000 points of first-tier realm value can only be converted into 0.9 points of second-tier realm value. So I advise you to avoid such unprofitable transactions!”
“Now, you’ve understood most of the rules here, right?” After explaining, Ed turned to Ye Feng. “If there’s anything you still don’t understand, ask now. I like to resolve issues once and for all to avoid future troubles!”
“I want to know if there are other guardians after reaching the third realm,” Ye Feng asked, his question somewhat sharp.
Ed glanced at Ye Feng. “That’s right. Each realm has different guardians. If you open the third realm, I won’t be able to stay here. I’ll be transported by the Void Realm to another place to continue my cultivation. The Void Realm makes this arrangement to prevent too much interaction between guardians and its authorized individuals, so as not to expose its secrets. After all, humans are emotional beings…”
At that point, Ed’s voice stopped abruptly. He stared at the ground for a while before acting as if nothing had happened and walking over to Ye Feng.
“Opening the second realm will grant a random reward. If you’re lucky, you might get an ultimate secret manual or an ultimate weapon. It could also be a large amount of realm value. What’s your reward?”
“Oh, that! I got an evolvable pet. I haven’t seen what it looks like yet!” Ye Feng then remembered about it.
“That’s a pretty good reward. But I’ve never encountered it before, nor have I heard of anyone getting it, so I don’t know what kind of creature it is or how far it can evolve!” Ed was clearly hearing about this reward for the first time, and his expression showed curiosity.
“We’ll see!” Ye Feng smiled nonchalantly and unlocked his special reward.
“Special Reward: One evolvable pet!”
“Do you want to use the special reward?”
Ye Feng chose “Yes” without hesitation.
“You can choose one from these ten newly hatched young creatures as your pet…”
After the dialogue box disappeared, all ten young creatures in transparent containers were placed in front of Ye Feng.
Ye Feng looked at Ed. “Which one do you think is better?”
“I can’t give you advice!” Ed shook his head. “The main reason is that the Void Realm’s rules don’t allow it. Another reason is that I’ve only heard of two of these ten species, and I’m not even sure if they’re those two. I can only tell you that all ten of these little guys are extremely rare species…”
“Well, it seems we can only rely on intuition!” Ye Feng shrugged helplessly, crossed his arms, and started walking over toward the first pet beast…
