Chapter 69: Original Sin
Pearl and Zheng Ze still looked conflicted. Clearly, deciding what to do with the Grand Elder Li Tianyu was a difficult choice for them.
“You can’t kill me! If you do, that woman will have to die with me!” Li Tianyu, whose face had been flattened by Long Tian into that of a pig, still roared arrogantly.
“We don’t need to dirt our hands! As long as we don’t give you the antidote, you won’t live beyond an hour…” Long Tian said cheerfully to him.
“Give me the antidote!” Li Tianyu shouted at Zheng Ze. “Otherwise, you’ll never see that woman again!”
“You shouldn’t let him continue to manipulate you!” Ye Feng shook his head at Zheng Ze. “His actions have ruined your life—your lover, your daughter, everything. Don’t make the same mistake again!”
“But Lin Xin… I can’t abandon her…” Zheng Ze shook his head, looking exhausted.
“She’s already dead…” Pearl looked at Zheng Ze. “I know what that parasite does—it’s only used to maintain her vital signs. In fact, when I was forcibly taken away, my mother was already dead. He lied to your mother, saying she was still alive, so he could control you. I’ve seen people use that kind of parasite in Miao territory. When burying dead pregnant women, they put the parasite inside them before burying them, so their bodies remain intact, as if they were still alive. That kind of parasite can only be implanted in the dead, because it contains necrotic toxins that would rot a living person if implanted…”
“Are you sure? She seems alive—she has a heartbeat, she breathes…” Zheng Ze still looked incredulous.
“Yes, I know. It’s all an illusion created by that parasite. It can make a dead body appear alive…” Pearl nodded. “That state can last at most fifty years…”
“If that’s the case, then I have nothing to worry about!” Zheng Ze’s once confused expression turned fierce as he stared coldly at the Grand Elder.
“You won’t kill me. I know many secrets of the organization! You need me!” Zheng Ze knew his situation was dire, and he shook his head desperately.
“I think the Third Elder already knows all the secrets you know!” Ye Feng lifted the net holding the Grand Elder. “Or maybe you’re willing to share some secrets he doesn’t know?”
“I’ll tell you where my treasures are—if you give me the antidote!” Li Tianyu offered his condition.
“This doesn’t sound very appealing!” Ye Feng waved his index finger back and forth.
“I’ve gathered everything inside—many valuable things!” Li Tianyu added.
“Do you think I’m short of money?” Ye Feng shook his head with a smile. “If you really want to survive, give me something useful, and maybe we can consider it!”
Long Tian and Zhenzhu both looked at Ye Feng in confusion, not understanding why he wasn’t in a hurry to kill Li Tianyu.
“Tell me about that man—his strength, his hidden identity, and everything else!” When Zheng Ze asked this question, concern flashed clearly in his eyes.
Ye Feng and the others didn’t know what he was asking. Only Zhenzhu glanced at her father before staring intently at Li Tianyu just like him.
Ye Feng and Long Tian exchanged a look and didn’t ask further. They already guessed that Zheng Ze’s question was likely very important.
“Haha… You want to know about that man?” Li Tianyu suddenly laughed loudly. “Are you really naive enough to think you can take him down?”
“Stop talking nonsense! If you want the antidote, give us something useful!” Zhenzhu said coldly.
“Give me the antidote first, and I’ll tell you some information about him,” Li Tianyu proposed his condition. He knew his top priority was to survive first.
Zhenzhu nodded at Ye Feng and threw the antidote to Li Tianyu.
After taking the antidote, the Grand Elder said to Ye Feng, “The antidote can only be exchanged for one question!”
“Stop talking nonsense!” Ye Feng glared at him fiercely.
“What’s that man’s true identity? He always hides his identity whenever he appears—he must be a remarkable person!” Zheng Ze asked. “The organization has existed for so many years. Don’t tell me that as the Grand Elder, you don’t even know his true face.”
“The answer is, I don’t know!” Li Tianyu smirked. “You should know that the name ‘Original Sin’ has been famous worldwide for hundreds of years. There have been famous figures like Jack the Ripper and Count Dracula. I’m just the Grand Elder for the Chinese region, and you should also know that there have been several Grand Elders in the Chinese region before me. In fact, the Chinese region is one of the weakest regions because there are too many strong people here, and our influence is greatly suppressed.”
“So you’re all people of Original Sin!” Ye Feng finally understood why the opponent had so many strong fighters. Original Sin was an evil organization, one as vast as the Hunters themselves.
“That’s right. Our stronghold in China was once besieged by numerous strong fighters. Many noble families don’t even know we’ve already made a comeback,” Zheng Ze nodded. “We targeted Long Tian to control him and Long Ao, and then use the Long family to take control of the other major noble families, thereby seizing large areas of the country.”
“Unfortunately, we never expected there to be an old monster at the Golden Core stage by Long Ao’s side. All the information we received said that guy was at the Condensed Core stage, which cost us a huge loss,” Li Tianyu said with a shake of his head and a laugh.
“By Ao Uncle’s side…?” Long Tian frowned. “Could it be Li Qing?”
“That’s right, it’s that woman,” Zheng Ze nodded.
“That monster completely ruined our chances of defeating Long Ao. There are so few strong fighters at the Golden Core stage in the whole world, and yet she acts as his assistant. It’s utterly ridiculous! Not even the heads of the major noble families have managed to reach the Golden Core stage!” Li Tianyu laughed wildly.
“It seems you have no future in China. You chose the wrong target for advancement, which led to your total defeat. As the Grand Elder, making such a mistake—even if you don’t die, your fate will be miserable!” Ye Feng said expressionlessly. He had heard of Original Sin among the Hunters as an extremely evil organization, a hub of desire, where those people acted without considering any consequences.
Hearing this, Li Tianyu’s gaze darkened instantly. He looked up at Ye Feng. “Let me go, and I’ll tell you everything I know…”
