Chapter 61: The Ten-Floor Gate Opens
When Long Tian stepped out of the room and reappeared before the members of the Long family, many were shocked. After all, it was hard for anyone to believe that Long Tian, who was supposed to be dead, could come back to life and stand in front of them with a strange smile on his face.
Watching the crowd pointing and whispering but not daring to approach, Long Tian seemed to enjoy it greatly.
Ye Feng, on the other hand, remained expressionless and ignored the people around him.
Following Long Tian, they arrived at a three-story building that resembled a villa. The two stopped and asked, “Where is this?”
“This is where the past family heads worked,” Long Tian said, standing in front of the building and looking up at this Chinese-style structure with a hint of antiquity. “I’ve only been here once before… when I spent a year reaching the peak of the Afterlife realm…”
“Come in!” Long Chen’s voice came from inside.
“I’ll wait for you outside!” Ye Feng wisely stepped aside. Long Tian nodded and pushed the door open.
“Tian?” Long Chen’s expression was strange. He had thought it was someone else, and he hadn’t expected Long Tian to come to him on his own.
“I want to leave this place!” Long Tian’s expression was calm—a calmness Long Chen had never seen before, as he had always glared at him in anger.
For a moment, Long Chen didn’t know what to say. After a while, he put down the book in his hands. “I know… you still hate me… I’m sorry for what I did to your mother and to you… If I had tried harder back then, you wouldn’t have suffered like that…”
“You don’t need to say anything more…” Long Tian interrupted him. Long Chen looked at the young man standing across from him, who resembled him greatly, and silently lowered his head.
“I heard everything… from inside that airtight coffin.” Long Tian carefully studied his father before taking a deep breath. “Let bygones be bygones…”
“Tian, you…” Long Chen could hardly believe his ears. He raised his head, his eyes filled with surprise and joy.
“I can admit that you’re my father, but I refuse to admit that I’m part of the Long family. I want to leave this place and never return!” Long Tian’s compromise was clearly conditional.
“I came here only to say goodbye before leaving. I don’t need your permission. Also, Yue Er knows where I live! I’ll welcome you if you and Yue Er come to visit. As for the other members of the Long family, I don’t want to see them!” With that, Long Tian turned and left nonchalantly.
“What’s this supposed to be?” Long Chen shook his head with a bitter smile. Long Tian’s attitude was clear—he had admitted that he was his father, which meant he had forgiven him. But it was obvious he still harbored strong resentment toward the Long family because of his mother’s matter.
“Are you leaving with me or planning to stay here for a few days?” Long Tian asked Ye Feng as soon as he stepped out of the attic.
“You resolved this so quickly?” Ye Feng was skeptical.
“He’s my father. What can I do to him?” Long Tian replied irritably.
“I should head back to the United States too. But before leaving, shouldn’t I say goodbye to Long Yue?” Ye Feng felt it would be rude to just leave like that, after all, it was Long Yue who had brought him to the Long family.
“No need. That girl definitely won’t let me go easily!” Long Tian laughed. “If you want to say goodbye before leaving, don’t mention me. Just say you’re leaving on your own. I’ll wait for you at the door!”
“I’ll be right back!” Ye Feng nodded.
……
“Are you leaving now? Why not stay a few more days? Anyway, my brother probably won’t be able to move around properly for a few days. You can leave together then!” Long Yue hoped Ye Feng would stay longer. She still didn’t know that Long Tian was now as strong as an ox.
“No, as you know, I’ve been away from the team for several days now, and everything here has basically been resolved. People have already been sent to help Long Ao, and Brother Long is fine too. It’s time for me to return to the United States and continue working with my teammates! I’ve been absent for long enough…” Long Tian declined Long Yue’s request with a smile.
“But you must know that my brother will probably insist on coming with you if you leave…” Before Long Yue could finish speaking, a distant bell sound suddenly filled the entire Long mansion.
“What’s that sound?” Ye Feng asked Long Yue in confusion.
“A powerful warrior who has broken through the Innate realm has opened the gate. Come with me!” As soon as she finished speaking, Long Yue rushed toward the door.
Ye Feng followed her, thinking to himself, “Could it be Brother Long?”
By the time Ye Feng and the others arrived, the gate was already closed.
“What happened?” Long Yue asked the guards at the door. “Who left just now?”
“It was… Long Tian…” The guards also seemed shocked; they never expected such a thing to happen.
“How is that possible? Doesn’t the bell only ring when all ten layers of the gate are opened?” Long Yue asked in confusion. “Was anyone else with him?”
“No,” the guard quickly shook his head. “We all thought he wouldn’t even be able to push open the first layer of gates. Who would have thought he’d push open ten layers straight and then leave?”
By this time, a considerable crowd had gathered at the gate. Hearing the guard’s words, they began to discuss it among themselves.
“It seems he was even more eager to leave than I am. I should go too!” Ye Feng didn’t reveal Long Tian’s secret. He simply smiled at Long Yue, pushed open the Long family’s gate, and strode away.
“What was that bell sound just now? Did I cause it?” Long Tian asked eagerly when he saw Ye Feng come out.
“That’s right. A bell sound appears when ten layers of gates are pushed open. It seems your strength has been exposed!” Ye Feng spread his hands toward Long Tian. “I didn’t tell anyone…”
“Damn these stupid gates!” Long Tian cursed at the gate.
“Who just left?” At this moment, Long Chen also arrived at the gate inside the Long mansion.
“It was my brother…” Long Yue turned to her father. “I’ll go chase after him!”
“No need. He pushed open ten layers of gates. He has the right to leave…” Long Chen shook his head and then turned to leave…
