Chapter 57: Rescue
Seeing the suddenly appearing dialog box, Ye Feng was stunned for a moment before immediately sending his mental energy into the Void Realm.
“Boi, can that detector from the Technolgy Planet detect the condition of the deceased?” Ye Feng’s question made Boi look at him strangely.
“Dead people are like stones—they won’t show any reaction. That detector can only detect living organisms, including various plants and animals, but only if they’re alive!” Boi acted like an expert, raising one finger.
“But after the people from the Long family brought Brother Long’s body back, they tested and confirmed that his heart and brain had stopped functioning before putting him in the coffin. Yet my detector still shows his mental energy level at 1… Does that mean he’s not dead even though his heart and brain have stopped working?” Ye Feng raised his doubts.
“For normal Earthlings, if the heart stops beating for more than twelve minutes, it’s almost impossible to revive them. If brain waves can’t be detected, it means the brain has died. In that case, the body will still function normally, but the person is dead. If both the heartbeat and brain activity stop, it means complete death. The fact that you’re still detecting his mental energy level at 1 indicates his physique is very special—his brain hasn’t died completely but is functioning in another way, and the machines that detect brain waves can’t capture those special patterns of activity.” Boi showcased his extensive knowledge.
“So, there’s still a way to save him?” Ye Feng’s face lit up with excitement.
“That’s right. Give him appropriate stimulation to restore normal heart function first, then use other methods to get his brain working again. After that, he’ll be completely revived…” Boi nodded.
“What should I do?” Ye Feng asked eagerly.
“As for the stopped heartbeat, the most conventional method—electric shock—is needed. But since his body is much stronger than ordinary people’s, a stronger electric shock is required…”
“Although his brain can no longer feel pain now, certain special sensations can still make his brain aware of his body’s condition, such as falling from a great height or drowning… Such stimuli can still trigger a reaction in his brain…” Boi offered his suggestions.
“Thanks!” Ye Feng withdrew his mental energy.
At that moment, Zhuge Ling’er, seeing him standing at the door motionless for so long, couldn’t help but call out to him, “Ye Feng, what are you daydreaming about?”
“Brother Long isn’t dead!” Ye Feng turned his head and looked seriously at the three of them.
“What did you say?” Long Yue was slightly stunned by Ye Feng’s words and immediately asked again, worried she had heard wrong.
“Brother Long isn’t dead yet; he’s just in a deep sleep. We must find a way to wake him up!” Ye Feng added, ensuring Long Yue and the others understood it was true.
“But his brainwaves and heartbeat are gone…” Although Long Yue wanted to believe Ye Feng, the facts made her hesitant to trust him easily.
“Put this on. It’s an energy detector. If Brother Long were dead, the detector wouldn’t show anything. But right now, it shows his mental energy at 1, meaning his brain is still functioning—only the brainwave detector can’t detect it.” Ye Feng took off his glasses from his nose, authorized their use, and handed them to Long Yue.
Long Yue still wasn’t clear about the situation. After hesitating for a moment, she took the glasses from Ye Feng and put them on her nose as he instructed.
Total Combat Value: 1
Strength: 0
Speed: 0
Mental Energy: 1
Innate Internal Energy: 0
When such a semi-transparent dialog box suddenly appeared, Long Yue was stunned for a moment. She turned to Ye Feng, asking him to explain what was going on. Then another dialog box appeared:
Total Combat Value: 889
Strength: 212
Speed: 218
Mental Energy: 223
Innate Internal Energy: 236
She then looked at Zhuge Ling’er and Lu Zhan, who could also clearly see their combat values. “This thing…”
“It’s an energy detector that can measure the energy levels of all living beings. If it’s a dead person, it won’t show anything,” Ye Feng said with a confident smile. “We must find a way to wake him up. He’s slept long enough…”
At this point, Long Yue didn’t care where Ye Feng got the device from. She handed the glasses back to him and stared at the crystal coffin in the attic. Then she turned to Ye Feng. “Let’s talk to Father about this. Only with his permission can we move Brother out of the attic. How confident are you that you can bring him back to life?”
“I can’t give you a definite answer. I only know he’s still alive. As for whether we can wake him up, I can only try my best. And from what I know, even if we don’t stimulate him, he might wake up on his own. Of course, there’s also a possibility he might truly die.” Ye Feng couldn’t guarantee anything either.
Long Yue fell silent for a moment. “No matter what the chances are, let’s give it a try! I’ll go find Father and get him to agree to move Brother out of here. Ye Feng, come with me!”
“Mm.” Ye Feng followed Long Yue away.
“What exactly happened? Brother Long Tian isn’t dead?” Zhuge Ling’er was confused. “What exactly is that glasses thing?”
“Anyway, this is still good news, right?” Lu Zhan clearly only cared about the outcome. He wasn’t very curious about the whole process, as he thought Ye Feng was never an ordinary person from the start—ever since they were captured the first time they met him. As for those glasses, though he was somewhat curious about what they were, his relationship with Ye Feng wasn’t close enough to discuss everything, so he wisely chose to stay out of it.
“Ye Feng, are you sure you can save Tian?” Long Chen was so happy upon hearing this news that he could hardly speak.
“Uncle, I only know Brother Long isn’t dead. I can only try my best to wake him up. As for the chances of success, I can’t say for sure.” Ye Feng was worried that the greater the hope he gave, the greater the disappointment it would bring to Long Tian’s family. He could only say he would try his best and couldn’t give a definite answer.
Long Chen took a deep breath to calm his excitement slightly. “No matter what the chances are, as long as there’s a possibility, I can’t give up on my son. Go ahead and do it! If you need anything, just come to me. I’ll do my best to meet your demands.”
“First, I need a machine that can deliver an electric shock to make his heart beat again!” Ye Feng put forward his first request…
