Chapter 131: A Kind Visit?

“A ding-dong” sound came as the doorbell of the apartment where Ye Feng and the others were located rang.
With a gloomy expression, Long Tian walked to the door and opened it.
“Long Tian, long time no see!” A young man at the door greeted him with a smile.
“You’re… Yuwen Zhuo…” Long Tian looked at the young man in surprise, clearly curious about his sudden visit. “Why did you return to the country so suddenly?”
“Hmm, I just got back a couple of days ago. I noticed H City has been quite lively lately. I’m not sure what’s going on, but I thought I’d check it out—maybe I’d find something interesting!” Yuwen Zhuo glanced around the house. “After returning, I had a ton of things to deal with. It took me a long time to find some time to rest today. I didn’t want to stay in a hotel, so I wasn’t sure where to go. After thinking it over, I decided to visit you guys. I’m sorry if it’s sudden. Why is the house so empty? Are you here alone today?”
“Ye Feng was injured this morning and is still unconscious,” Long Tian said worriedly. “I sent Qing Lang and the others to invite Master Wu Dao, but they called back just now saying Master Wu Dao has some matters to attend to and can only come tonight. So I told them to wait there.”
“What? Brother Ye Feng is injured and unconscious? How did that happen?” Yuwen Zhuo’s eyes showed concern.
“You must have heard about the massacre at the Ghost Market a few days ago. We found that the murderers were several men in black robes with masks,” Long Tian explained. “After days of investigation, we finally got some clues, so we’ve been using bait to lure them out these past few days. This morning, they finally gave in. Ye Feng and I ambushed them there, and after they appeared, we had a fierce battle. After all, Ye Feng is only at the Golden Core stage, so he was affected during our fight and collapsed. When I saw him fall, I relaxed for a moment, and that guy escaped.”
“Who exactly is the murderer? You must have seen his face!” Yuwen Zhuo asked eagerly.
“It’s Pei Hong!” Long Tian’s expression turned grave. “I never would have thought it would be him!”

“Is it really him?” Yuwen Zhuo also showed a surprised expression. “I’ve known him for so many years, and yet he would do such a thing! Those small vendors in the Ghost Market are all innocent people! No wonder lately, every time I invited him to play chess, he said he had no time—turns out he was afraid I’d figure something out.”
“Sigh, you can know a person’s face but not their heart!” Long Tian shook his head regretfully.
“Thank goodness you told me! Otherwise, I would have remained in the dark!” Yuwen Zhuo said with some fear. “Do Master Wudao and Taoist Kongxu already know about this? We must hold an assembly of cultivators to punish him severely.”
“Not yet, because Ye Feng still hasn’t woken up. I’m quite worried about him,” Long Tian said, his face full of concern. “Anyway, Wudao and Kongxu will come to treat Ye Feng’s injuries tonight. It’s not too late to tell them then. After all, what was said over the phone can’t be explained clearly in just a short time.”
“Oh, you’re right. Anyway, such people will eventually face retribution. A few extra hours don’t matter!” Yuwen Zhuo nodded in agreement.
“How serious is Ye Feng’s injury? Is it really that bad? Ordinary cultivators don’t usually faint so easily!” Yuwen Zhuo pressed on.
“I’ve checked too. There are no wounds on his body. He might have accidentally suffered brain damage from the shock, which is why he’s unconscious,” Long Tian said, still looking worried. “You know, the brain is a delicate organ. I don’t dare treat him rashly. I can only wait and see if Wudao and Kongxu have any solutions. After all, both Buddhism and Taoism surely have their own methods for healing.”
“Can I take a look?” Yuwen Zhuo’s face showed hope. He wanted to confirm as soon as possible whether Ye Feng was really that serious.
“You can take a look, but Wudao and the others said over the phone to avoid touching him as much as possible. I can only stand by helplessly and do little to assist,” Long Tian hesitated for a moment before nodding.
“It’s okay. I just want to take a look. After all, I haven’t dealt much with medicine either, and I wouldn’t dare diagnose someone rashly. Since Ye Feng and I are friends, it’s fine for me to check on him. I won’t cause you any trouble!” Yuwen Zhuo nodded with a smile. His words were quite reasonable.
“Hmm,” Long Tian nodded and led Yuwen Zhuo into the room.
At that moment, Ye Feng lay motionless on the bed, his face pale.

“He looks so pale—his injuries must be serious!” Yuwen Zhuo frowned slightly. “But his breathing and heartbeat are still regular, so he shouldn’t be in life-threatening danger.”
“You don’t need to worry too much. Wudao and Kongxu are experts in healing. As long as they cure Ye Feng, a few days of rest should be enough to get him back on his feet!” Yuwen Zhuo patted Long Tian on the shoulder. “Since Ye Feng isn’t available today, I’ll come back another time. I’m leaving now!”
“How about staying and having dinner together first? We can gather with Master Wudao and Taoist Kongxu in the evening!” Long Tian invited.
“No need. I need to prepare materials for tomorrow. It’s my own organization—I have to take care of it!” Yuwen Zhuo shook his head and headed toward the door. “I’m off!”
Long Tian saw Yuwen Zhuo to the door, a hint of confusion in his eyes.
Just then, a sound of shattered glass came from the window of Ye Feng’s room. Long Tian was delighted—he knew they had finally taken action…
He rushed to Ye Feng’s room immediately. Two men in black robes with masks were wrapping Ye Feng in a bedsheet, preparing to escape through the window.
The one covering their retreat saw him arrive and rushed forward to block his pursuit, while the other jumped out of the window with Ye Feng wrapped in the bedsheet.
Long Tian was engaged in a fierce fight with the man in black when suddenly he felt a severe pain at the back of his neck. His vision went black, and he collapsed to the ground.
“Go back to the base quickly! I’ll follow soon!” Yuwen Zhuo, with a cruel smile on his face, stood behind where Long Tian had been standing, looking down at the unconscious Long Tian.
“Mm!” The man in black nodded and also jumped out of the window.
“Thank you very much for trusting me so much. But only the dead can earn my trust! I’m sorry…” Yuwen Zhuo bent his fingers into a hook and reached for Long Tian’s throat…
