Chapter 008: The Flaming Demon
When all the rock creatures clung to Fernand, they actually merged into his body. Soon, a giant rock creature twelve or thirteen meters tall appeared.
This enormous rock giant was entirely made of blue rock, with raging flames burning on its surface!
“I am a Flaming Demon! Haha, what do you think, kid? Isn’t this look cool?” Fernand said with a smile.
Flaming Demon! Du Fan suddenly remembered—this extremely powerful creature could only be born under extremely harsh conditions: in a place where earth and fire elements were highly concentrated.
Judging from the high concentration of earth elements here, one of the conditions for creating a Flaming Demon was indeed met. But Du Fan couldn’t sense any fire elements at all.
“Fernand, there are no fire elements here. How did you come into existence?” Du Fan asked in confusion.
“Haha, so you know about Flaming Demons too. Let me tell you—there are no fire elements here because I’ve absorbed them all. I should’ve mentioned that this place was originally filled with magma. It was I who drained all the fire elements here, turning the ground into stone,” Fernand explained.
Hearing Fernand’s explanation, Du Fan understood. They were deep underground, where there should have been magma—places with high concentrations of fire elements. It made perfect sense for a Flaming Demon to be born here.
“Kid, jump down quickly! Our game starts now!” the Flaming Demon shouted.
Hearing this, Du Fan replied affirmatively and jumped from where he stood.
As soon as Du Fan jumped, the Flaming Demon struck at him with a fierce punch mid-air!
Taking advantage of Du Fan’s inability to dodge while in the air, the Flaming Demon delivered a sure-hit punch.
Seeing the punch coming, Du Fan quickly drew Frostfall and activated True Sight. With its help, he could see the Flaming Demon’s movements clearly. As the punch approached, he felt a scorching heat. Raising Frostfall, he immediately felt a cool sensation.
The icy aura within Frostfall Snow managed to resist the scorching heat of the Flame Demon. Holding Frostfall Snow and activating the Eye of Truth, Du Fan gave a light tap on the Flame Demon’s massive fist. Then, harnessing the Flame Demon’s fierce power, Du Fan shot it far away.
“Kid, that sword in your hand is really annoying. Can you put it away?” The Flame Demon, sensing the coldness from Frostfall Snow, steadied himself and spoke to Du Fan.
“Is there any rule in your game that allows you to decide what weapon I can use?” Du Fan asked with a smile when the Flame Demon made such a request.
“No, but I just don’t like the aura of that sword of yours,” the Flame Demon replied.
“Lord Fernand, see, this is the only weapon I have. And it’s the only one I can use to counter your fiery elements. If I can’t use this sword, I’ll be at a serious disadvantage,” Du Fan said reluctantly.
At this moment, Du Fan wished the Flame Demon would keep talking nonsense, so that his one-hour deadline could be extended a bit.
After a pause, the Flame Demon suddenly took out a long sword and threw it at Du Fan. “Kid, put away your sword. I’ll give you this one instead. Hmph, aside from not emitting that annoying cold aura, the quality of this sword isn’t any worse than yours!” the Flame Demon said.
Taking the sword, Du Fan examined it carefully. Its sharpness was comparable to Frostfall Snow! Moreover, the entire sword was surrounded by green light, as if harboring some extraordinary, dominant power.
He channeled his combat energy into the sword and waved his hand lightly. With a boom! A lightning bolt as thick as a finger erupted from the sword, shattering a rock on the spot!
“What a great sword!” Du Fan exclaimed quickly. With a twist of his wrist, he stored Frostfall Snow in his storage ring, now holding the green long sword in place of it.
“Haha, isn’t this sword great? Over a thousand years ago, some idiot came here to challenge me and got killed by me. I saw that his sword was pretty good, so I kept it,” the Flame Demon laughed loudly.
Hearing this, Du Fan thought to himself it was a shame—his own sword must also be a divine-grade weapon. And since that person dared to challenge the Flame Demon, he must have been a legendary figure on the continent back then!
Such a person was simply killed by the Flaming Demon without a trace. It’s easy to imagine that if someone were killed by the Flaming Demon here, no one would even know how they died—how pitiful. Just as Du Fan was thinking about this, the Flaming Demon shouted, “Kid, you’ve changed your sword too. Let’s continue!” With that, it raised its huge head and swung a fist at Du Fan from above. Having just obtained such a sword, Du Fan acted quickly, swinging his hand repeatedly and firing bolts of lightning at the Flaming Demon. However, those lightning bolts had no effect on the Flaming Demon at all; they all turned into strands of green light that circled around the Flaming Demon before disappearing quickly, as if they had struck the ocean with no reaction at all. Since the lightning was ineffective, the Flaming Demon’s massive fist struck again, forcing Du Fan to dodge hastily. The fist hit the ground, causing the earth to shake. After hitting the ground with its fist, the Flaming Demon remained in a crouched position. Once it stood up, it laughed loudly, “Haha, kid! Since you know about the existence of a Flaming Demon like me, don’t you know that I’m completely immune to magic?” The Flaming Demon is a naturally powerful being—far stronger than dragons. It can be said that this being, born from the essence of heaven and earth, is like a god without a divine essence but possessing the power of a god! Such a being, once it develops a divine essence and enters the realm of gods, will at least become a mid-tier god! The Flaming Demon, born from the earth element, has maximized the defensive capabilities of that element, making it completely immune to magic! “I was just testing it out. Don’t get nervous,” Du Fan replied casually. “What a joke! Do I need to be nervous facing you?” the Flaming Demon said. With that, it suddenly stretched out its huge foot and stepped toward Du Fan. Then, the Flaming Demon moved its massive body, chasing after Du Fan to step on him. But as a wind-based mage, Du Fan’s speed was far beyond what the Flaming Demon could keep up with. After stepping on him for a while, Du Fan simply flew up to the mountain cliff. At that moment, the Flaming Demon started cursing. “You kid, come down quickly! Don’t you know I can’t fly? How can I hit you if you’re up there?” the Flaming Demon said angrily.
“If you don’t come down now, we’ll have to start over in an hour,” the Fiery Demon shouted. Hearing this, Du Fan quickly flew down. “Haha, you’re quite obedient,” the Fiery Demon said, and his first words made Du Fan angry. “It seems my huge size isn’t ideal for fighting you. Wait, I’ll shrink down first,” the Fiery Demon added. As soon as he said this, his body began to shrink. Soon, the once-tall Fiery Demon, standing over ten meters tall, had shrunk to about Du Fan’s height. With this shrinkage, the blue stones on his body appeared even more delicate! Those small blue stones resembled patches of blue scales, and the red flames burning on them made those scales shine brightly. “Haha, kid, we’re the same size now. Come on, let’s fight again! And stop running around all the time, haha,” the shrunk Fiery Demon said with a laugh. As soon as he finished speaking, he attacked Du Fan. Once again, the Fiery Demon fought Du Fan with bare hands. Now that he was smaller, his speed had become incredible—he could even keep up with Du Fan’s speed! At this point, Du Fan still chose to flee, only engaging in a fight when the Fiery Demon caught up, using a single strike that would send him flying far away. But strangely, although he was sent flying, Du Fan neither used any protection nor got injured. It was all thanks to the Help of the True Eye—he kept positioning his sword in the right place and used the Fiery Demon’s power and wind magic to propel himself far away. “Kid, you’re really strange!” After this happened several times, the Fiery Demon stopped and said. “Boss, what’s so strange?” Du Fan asked. “Why can’t I hurt you? Even if you’re blocking my punches with your sword, my strength should still be able to injure you through it,” the Fiery Demon said seriously. “But I really haven’t gotten hurt,” Du Fan replied. “I know you haven’t gotten hurt, that’s why I’m asking—why is it so strange that you’re unharmed?” the Fiery Demon asked. “You can’t hurt me because I have special abilities,” Du Fan said seriously. “What kind of abilities?” the Fiery Demon asked.
“I am the son of the Supreme God, so no one can hurt me.” With that thought, Du Fan also started imitating the Flame Demon by claiming to be the son of the Earth God. “You’re the son of the Supreme God! Go ahead and hit me—I’m still the father of the Supreme God. Call me grandfather!” Little did he know, Du Fan’s words made the Flame Demon completely distrust him and instead say such things. “I’m not lying to you. How about we make a bet? I’ll stand still and let you hit me three times. If nothing happens to me, it proves I’m the son of the Supreme God, and I win the bet—you’ll give me the Ring of the Elven King. If I get killed or injured by you, it means I deserve it,” said Du Fan. After thinking for a while, the Flame Demon calculated in his mind that even if he chased after Du Fan and fought him for an hour, he might not be able to land three hits on him. If he failed, even if Du Fan won the previous “game,” he still would have to give him the Ring of the Elven King. And if Du Fan stood still and let him hit him three times, the worst that could happen was that he’d give him the Ring of the Elven King. Besides, the Flame Demon had absolute confidence in his own strength! “Alright, I agree!” the Flame Demon said, nodding sharply.
