Chapter 014: The Demon God’s Prophecy
Du Fan sighed. In such a situation, sighing was the only option. Even when he accepted the terms set by High Priest Gannon and Angel Lord Toronus, he had guessed that this kind of outcome was likely…
He seemed to have effortlessly dealt with one angel, only to soon be manipulated by another… It was as if two skilled chess players were playing a game, with him serving as a pawn to fight for them…
Thinking of this, Du Fan could only sigh again. Faced with overwhelming strength, he had no chance to refuse. Since Gannon dared to treat him this way, it meant he was certain to be destroyed. At such a time, it was better to obey rather than resist.
Realizing this, Du Fan forced a bitter smile and said, “Lord Gannon… go ahead… Do as you see fit… Anyway, no matter what, I have no chance to refuse or resist.”
Gannon replied indifferently, “You’re smart… I don’t like killing. After all this is done, I’ll let you go…”
Let us go?
Du Fan smiled bitterly. Not to mention anything else, he couldn’t even deal with a single abyssal monster outside—how could he possibly leave?
He sighed again and said, “Then, Lord Gannon, does our previous deal still hold?”
Gannon slowly released his hand from Du Fan’s throat and stepped forward, smiling. “What do you think, Young Master Du Fan?”
Du Fan forced a smile. “Judging by Lord Gannon’s attitude, it seems the deal doesn’t hold. But what exactly do you want me to do next? You should at least explain. Otherwise, I’m completely confused!”
Gannon snorted. “What do you think?”
With that, he raised his hand and pointed at Du Fan’s forehead.
Du Fan felt as if his body had been frozen, unable to move. Of course, it was only much later that Du Fan learned he hadn’t encountered any sacred rules—Gannon’s angelic power was simply causing chaos within his body.
Standing there, Du Fan felt a stream of warm energy surge from some part of his body and flow into him under Gannon’s touch. Though it actually lasted less than a minute, it felt like an eternity to him.
Only after Gan Nong retracted his hand did Du Fan feel his body go weak. Though he wanted to stand up, his body seemed to weigh a thousand pounds—his legs gave way, and he sat down involuntarily.
Gan Nong glanced at Du Fan. His expression instantly returned to its serene state, as if it had always been that way. He said calmly, “You needn’t worry. In that fight just now, you exhausted all your physical strength, combat energy, and magic power before you were able to use my Angelic Power. So it’s normal for you to be weak now… But although I can draw out all the Angelic Power from your body, I can’t erase the three great secrets of Kara engraved deep in your soul… From this perspective, Young Master Du Fan has actually gotten a great deal—of course, if you can get out alive…”
Du Fan sneered and said, “Lord Gan Nong is indeed precise in his calculations. In that case, even if I’m unwilling, I can only let you manipulate me under these circumstances, right?”
Gan Nong replied indifferently, “Even if you still had your full strength, you’d still be at my mercy. Though I don’t know why you broke through to level five, what does a level-five person mean in front of me? I’m sure Young Master Du Fan understands this better than I do. You’ve already experienced the power of the peak of level nine—so… you should understand how unattainable the Holy Rank is.”
Du Fan gave a bitter smile but said nothing more.
Gan Nong glanced at him and said, “Well, time is running out… Young Master Du Fan, you’d better pay close attention to what happens next. This might be the most beautiful sight you’ll ever see in your life!”
With that, Gan Nong suddenly reached out beside him. With a muffled groan, a delicate figure appeared in Du Fan’s sight. First were a pair of exquisite feet, then long thighs, followed by slightly raised buttocks. Before Du Fan could see half of her, he recognized that the suddenly appearing figure was none other than Lady Ringtone. Her neck was held by Gan Nong, her face flushed red from strain. Though she kept struggling, it was useless against Gan Nong.
Gannon let out a disdainful snort, then flicked his hand, sending the bell sound flying beside Du Fan. He glanced at the bell and said indifferently, “My dear Ringo… never forget that I am your teacher. Which of your meager skills wasn’t taught by me? Trying to hide around me with such a basic invisibility spell? Do you really think I can’t detect you? What did I tell you before… have you already forgotten?”
Ringo coughed violently several times, blood seeping from the corners of her mouth. Her face turned pale as she stared at Gannon. After a moment, she said, “You… you deceived me again!”
Gannon laughed heartily and said, “It can’t really be called deception. At that time, all my strength was focused on Du Fan. I was just an ordinary person. If I hadn’t calmed you down, that casual move of yours would have killed me. But now… Ringo, never forget that I… am after all a Saint-class being.”
Ringo moved, still wanting to say something.
But Du Fan suddenly pulled her back with effort and whispered, “It’s useless… There’s no point in saying anything now. If you have the strength, it’s better to rest properly.”
Gannon glanced at Du Fan and said indifferently, “Young Master Du Fan is quite sensible. I was planning to use some force if you refused to cooperate later, but it seems unnecessary now!”
With that, Gannon stepped back and vanished into thin air.
Ringo and Du Fan exchanged a glance, both too stunned to react, having no idea what High Priest Gannon was up to.
But soon, they found out.
A moment later, Gannon reappeared in front of Du Fan. One hand held the Desire Angel Battle Spear; with a flick, the spear vanished silently into a disappearing magic circle. In his other hand, he held a fist-sized orb of light.
The surface of the orb emitted a faint golden glow, accompanied by piercing screams. Inside the orb was a blurred figure, seemingly with wings behind them… and those screams seemed to come from that person’s mouth.
Du Fan was slightly stunned, already guessing what it was.
Seeing his expression, Gannon’s jade-like face took on a mocking tone as he said, “Young Master Du Fan… Look, this is the angel you dealt with—that esteemed Desire Angel, Lord Spalitis. It’s a pity he’s in this state now. He thought that by escaping with his soul, he would have a chance to rise again, but he never expected that you would shatter his soul as well… I originally thought I’d have to suffer some loss to break the last seal of the Demon God Temple, but who would have thought… Young Master Du Fan, I really must thank you for this!”
Du Fan snorted and asked, “What do you mean?”
Gannon replied calmly, “Spalitis was just a lowly Desire Angel after all. He always thought his existence was the greatest guarantee to seal the Demon God Temple, but he was wrong… How could a mere Desire Angel possibly guess the thoughts of the gods in the heavens? The Angel’s Gate is just the first seal, and the Endless Beasts represent the second, but these are all superficial. Luck and strength might suffice to break them. Yet the last seal is the most troublesome… So troublesome that even the gods in the heavens find it difficult to handle!”
Du Fan frowned and asked, “What do you mean?”
Gannon closed his eyes, then slowly opened them again, saying, “This is not something a mere mortal should know!”
Du Fan snorted and closed his eyes.
But Gannon seemed to smile faintly once more and continued, “Ten thousand years of imprisonment will soon end. Mortals from another world herald a brand new beginning. Roland’s winter will finally arrive, and the chaotic game of power will commence. The blood of outsiders, the souls of angels… everything will ultimately return to nothingness…”
His voice sounded like a lament. Spoken in this moment and place, it carried a strange undertone, yet it was impossible to pinpoint exactly what made it strange.
Before Du Fan could say anything, Ling音 beside him exclaimed loudly, “A prophecy! He’s talking about a prophecy!”
“What?” Du Fan couldn’t help but ask.
Gannon glanced at her with a half-smile. Staring at Ling音, he said calmly, “Yes… it’s a prophecy. But Ling音, this is different from before. It’s not a prophecy I foresaw—it’s a prophecy spoken at the moment the Demon God was sealed again, after ten thousand years!!!”
