Chapter 010: Uncertain Fate
Du Fan smiled faintly and said, “Lord Sbalitis, you’ve misunderstood. How could this be considered seeking death? You are the great and sacred Angel of Desire, Lord Sbalitis, while I am but a mere mortal. I’m fully aware that if I confront you head-on, with my fake Holy Rank, I have no chance at all. If I don’t use some cunning tactics, wouldn’t that be seeking my own death?”
“Also,” Du Fan casually glanced at Sbalitis, “if I’m not mistaken, those few attacks just now must have used all your strength, right? If you had unleashed your Holy Rank domain, I might have died in a horrible way. But if you’re still at your current strength, then only heaven knows who’s stronger!”
Sbalitis ignored Du Fan’s sarcasm completely. He merely glanced at Gannon and said, “Lord Toronus, is this the heir you’ve chosen? Though he has inherited angelic power, he hasn’t learned anything about the Angelic Heart or combat instincts. Having someone like him as my opponent is an insult to me!”
Gannon’s voice came from afar, “Sbalitis, do you still need to insult others? Your heart is already in chaos. Am I wrong?”
Sbalitis snorted but said nothing more. The Angel of Desire battle spear in his hand trembled slightly, with purple lightning flashing across it once again.
Du Fan’s heart tightened. He had seen the power of that purple lightning before, and now he dared not be careless. He raised his Silver Moon Sword with his right hand, and several Holy Light Cross slashes spun into motion.
Sbalitis sneered and said, “Ignorant!”
As he spoke, his right hand paused slightly, and a flash of light appeared on his Angel of Desire battle spear. A massive bolt of lightning struck toward Du Fan.
Du Fan’s expression changed. He didn’t dare confront this attack head-on and could only retreat violently. Waving his left hand, he created a huge wind shield.
In the next instant, the thick purple lightning struck the wind shield. Du Fan grunted in pain as he retreated dozens of meters before landing again, his limbs tingling uncontrollably.
After all, angels were incredibly powerful. Even though Sbalitis was severely injured now, this near-full-power attack was beyond Du Fan’s ability to withstand… He sighed inwardly. If Sbalitis attacked again now, he might not even have the strength to retaliate!
Spalitis didn’t even glance at Du Fan; instead, he stepped forward and suddenly appeared in front of Gannon, his eyes narrowed to slits. He said in a low voice, “Lord Toronus, I suppose you’ve forgotten one thing—once your angelic essence dies, even if that mortal gains angelic power, they will never be able to use it. Do you truly not know this, or have you deliberately forgotten it?”
Gannon laughed heartily and said, “How could I not know? I just couldn’t imagine that the proud and arrogant Lord Spalitis would do such a thing. Hahaha…”
Spalitis frowned and said, “In the face of my goals, all dignity is meaningless. Even if that kid comprehends angelic power, he won’t be able to get here anytime soon. I can kill you first and deal with him later—it’s not too late. Well, I have no time to waste on you, Lord Toronus… Goodbye forever…”
As he spoke, the Spear of the Angel of Desire was raised high.
Suzune, who was by Gannon’s side, let out a cry. Suddenly, she gritted her teeth and stepped in front of Gannon.
Spalitis was slightly stunned and said, “Petite human… What do you mean by this?”
Suzune gritted her teeth and said, “I know I’m no match for you, but after all, he is my teacher. If you’re going to kill him, kill me first!”
“A teacher? An interesting term, Lord Toronus. You’ve really done countless things over the years!” Spalitis sighed. “Very well, petty human. Although killing you will dirty my hands, getting rid of both of you at once will save me a lot of trouble. So… goodbye!”
With that, the Spear of the Angel of Desire trembled slightly as it prepared to strike!
But at that moment, a clear whooshing sound was heard!
With a “whoosh,” a black light rushed toward Spalitis like lightning!
Spalitis’s expression changed instantly. He didn’t have time to dodge, so he could only freeze, swinging the Spear of the Angel of Desire backward to block it!
“Crack—”
With a loud noise, the black lightning was repelled by his spear, causing countless fragments of space to appear around him. But moments later, they slowly disappeared. Spalitis’s hand, holding the spear, trembled slightly, with a few streaks of pale golden blood seeping from his knuckles!
In mid-air, Du Fan slowly descended. His expression was one of a smirk, as his Silver Moon Sword pointed at Spartitus’s head. With that strike, Spartitus was pushed back, and Du Fan slowly descended to stand in front of Ringtone and Gannon. His eyes narrowed as he stared at Spartitus, a cold smile forming on his lips. In a low voice, he said, “Lord Spartitus… you really underestimate people! Do you really think that little lightning strike can do anything to me, Du Fan? Although these two behind me can die if they must… ignoring me like this really embarrasses me! Also, it seems you said something interesting just now—if I kill Gannon, will my angelic power become useless? Lord Spartitus, tell me, now that I know this, will I still let you succeed?”
“Oh… you’re not dead yet?” Spartitus looked at Du Fan with an expression of mild annoyance. “Ah, I thought that move might not kill you, but at least knock you out for half a day. It seems your body has some special qualities—ordinary people can’t withstand angelic power. I underestimated you; that was my mistake. But please be assured, young Master Du Fan, this mistake will only happen once… next time, you won’t have a chance!”
As he spoke, his eyes showed a hint of helplessness. “Why do I keep running into people who don’t know their place today? If I don’t teach them a lesson, do they all think Lord Spartitus can be freely insulted?”
Du Fan grinned and said, “Lord Spartitus is really confident… It seems I’ve hit a wall today… But don’t worry, Lord. Even if I die, it’s not impossible for me to cause you some trouble!”
Spartitus smiled faintly. “Is that so?”
Du Fan snorted. “Of course… Alright, Lord Spartitus, watch carefully… I’m about to strike!”
Although Du Fan was known for his despicable tactics, he had already used that method earlier. Using it again would only show him to be a fool. His gaze changed, becoming empty, as the Power of Truth activated. Though Du Fan didn’t dare use it to predict Spartitus’s past and future, it wasn’t hard to anticipate his movements. He vaguely saw through Spartitus’s actions, and his Silver Moon Sword suddenly swung in a strange direction.
Upon hearing Du Fan’s declaration of war, Spalitis sneered inwardly. But when he saw Du Fan’s actions more clearly, he grew even more puzzled—what on earth was this guy up to? Could such reckless slashing really do anything to him?
Yet despite thinking this, he had already seen through Du Fan’s despicable nature and feared further schemes, so he instinctively stepped back. But before he could retreat even a meter, Spalitis’ expression changed—he realized that Du Fan’s seemingly casual strike was aimed precisely at the path he had chosen to retreat along. By retreating that way, it was as if he were drawing himself closer to Du Fan.
His expression shifted again. Could Du Fan really have reached the Saintly realm, to the point of being able to predict his movements? But no matter what he thought, Spalitis dared not retreat any further. He halted, and his Desire Angel Battle Spear shot toward Du Fan with lightning speed.
A strange glint appeared in Du Fan’s eyes, but he quickly tilted his head back. His Silver Moon Long Sword was thrust out in a peculiar manner, while his left hand waved, summoning several wind blades that began to take shape in the air.
Spalitis was now 90% certain that this strike would pierce through this insignificant human. But halfway through delivering the spear strike, Du Fan’s sword appeared from some unknown angle and struck right at Spalitis’ Desire Angel Battle Spear. That spot was the only weakness in this move. With that strike, Spalitis’ attack lost its accuracy, and since this move was already outdated, it was now impossible for him to withdraw.
A cruel smile appeared on Du Fan’s face. He sped up his incantations, waved his left hand again, and dozens of enormous wind blade spells rushed toward Spalitis.
Although Spalitis was at the Saintly realm, their strengths were now equal, and his moves were outdated. With no time to dodge, those dozens of wind blades slammed down on him in dense waves…
