Chapter 019: A Clash of Titans
Gannon stared coldly at Spalitis. Without making any move, Spalitis suddenly vanished from his spot. In an instant, a flash of black light appeared, and he was right behind Spalitis. Swinging his Demon God Axe slightly, he swung it at Spalitis.
Spalitis sneered. With a wave of his hand, silver holy flames emerged from his body, forming a massive shield. This shield was enormous, creating a huge transparent wall between the two angelic lords.
Gannon swung his Demon God Axe at the shield, causing intense vibrations, but the shield remained unbroken.
Spalitis had initially shown some concern, but seeing this scene, he couldn’t help but laugh. “Lord Toronus, what do you say? Even with your Demon God Axe, you’re just an archangel!”
Gannon suddenly spat out a mouthful of pale golden blood. He had already stepped back several times. His face was pale, and his smile took on a sinister look. Staring at Spalitis, he said, “Very good… very good… Spalitis… I never expected that after all these years, you not only haven’t regressed but have even grown stronger. It seems you’ve reaped quite a few benefits from betraying the Demon God! But don’t underestimate me either… Do you really think I haven’t considered this? Even if you’re twice as strong, so what? Though I’m not your match now, if I’m three times, four times, or even ten times stronger, I doubt you can still defeat me!”
Spalitis’ expression changed. “Lord Toronus… if you truly could be ten times stronger, then I indeed wouldn’t be your match. But with your current physique, I doubt you can even summon the Wings of Holy Light. How could you possibly be my opponent?”
Gannon’s face grew even more grotesque. With a cold sneer, he said, “Spalitis, don’t look down on a human body… If you surrender now, you might still have a chance. But if you wait any longer, you won’t even get the chance to speak!”
Spalitis replied calmly, “Then go ahead… I’m looking forward to it, Lord Toronus…”
With that, Spalitis opened his mouth, and a stream of silver holy flames shot out. The shield before them seemed even brighter!
Gannon sneered and suddenly spat, spraying a mouthful of blood onto his Demon God Axe.
Sparitis sneered coldly and was about to say something, but at that moment, Gannon’s aura suddenly surged several times, as if his strength had increased by several folds. Ringo let out a startled cry and couldn’t help but say, “Blood sacrifice… it’s a blood sacrifice… This is the first time I’ve seen him use this move!” Du Fan also felt a shock in his heart. Having witnessed the Blood Sacrifice twice, he knew well that once this move was used, Gannon’s strength would surely soar. With such strength, even that angel guarding the gate would likely not be his match! Gannon sneered, raising his Demon God Axe high. This time, fierce demonic flames even ignited on the axe. With a flash, he swung the axe again. Sparitis’ expression changed, and he couldn’t help but take a few steps back. He opened his mouth and spat out another blast of holy flame, but Du Fan could clearly see that the protective barrier had dimmed significantly. Gannon stepped back a few more times, spitting out more blood from his mouth. Roaring as if cursing, he said, “Very good! Very good! You can actually block my strike… Then I’ll see… how long you can hold out!” With that, he raised his Demon God Axe high once more. This time, he didn’t charge straight at him but rotated it slightly in midair, swinging it diagonally. A stark white spatial rift appeared—this was one of the three great secret techniques of the barbarians: Spatial Rupture Slash! Sparitis’ expression changed. The calm look on his face finally vanished, his eyes widening sharply. His once-disappeared smooth wings reappeared, and countless flashing lights appeared all over his body, along with numerous tiny runes of unclear meaning. Facing the fierce attack, he suddenly waved his hand and said, “Summon!” A massive wave seemed to surge through the space. A small magic circle appeared near Sparitis’ left hand. He inserted his left hand into it and slowly pulled it back, now holding a war spear radiating holy light. He quickly raised his left hand, swaying the spear gently, and ordered softly, “Retreat!” The condensed protective barrier vanished abruptly, returning to Sparitis at an invisible speed. He rotated his war spear slightly, ready to meet Gannon’s Spatial Rupture Slash! Crack— The axe and the spear collided silently. The stark white Spatial Rupture Slash was tearing apart Sparitis’ holy light, while the holy light on Sparitis’ spear was purifying Gannon’s attack. But since their strengths were equal, neither could gain the upper hand.
Suddenly, the two of them were pulled apart violently. Gannon sneered and said, “You even brought out your Desire Angel Battle Spear! Spalitis, you really looked down on me before!”
Spalitis replied calmly, “Lord Toronus hasn’t brought out his Archangel Battle Spear yet. Isn’t it obvious who is looking down on whom?”
Gannon snorted and said, “A shameless guy who only knows how to argue! Although you managed to block my attack, how many times can you really block it? I may not have the confidence to slay a god, but if I can’t even deal with you, the lowest-ranked Desire Angel, what right do I have to liberate the Lord of Demons?”
The air around them suddenly turned cold. Spalitis narrowed his eyes, the silver light in them flickering slightly. With a sigh, he said softly, “Lord Toronus… all these years, you’re still so proud, so confident. In your eyes, I’ll always be that lowest-ranked Desire Angel… It seems you still don’t take me seriously at all… Very well, then I’ll show you what happens when an angel gets angry…”
Spalitis raised his Desire Angel Battle Spear, letting out a crisp sneer. Ripples spread from his body, like an ever-turbulent surface.
Glaring at Gannon, Spalitis said softly, “Well then, Lord Toronus… let’s begin…”
As soon as he finished speaking, Spalitis rushed at Toronus like lightning, his figure stretching into a long illusion. Just before reaching Toronus, his figure suddenly split into eight, each holding a Desire Angel Battle Spear and swinging it at Gannon.
Gannon sneered, shifting his body mid-air. A dark expression flashed across his handsome face, but soon he let out a low growl, “Reveal yourself! True Eye!”
The moment he spoke, his eyes seemed to vanish, his gaze becoming utterly empty. He instantly saw through the past and future of the eight figures around him. Then he gently raised his Axe of the Lord of Demons and swung it to the left rear, blocking that deadly strike. The remaining seven figures disappeared instantly, leaving only the one in the left rear.
Spalitis asked in confusion, “What technique is this, Lord Toronus? It seems that though your strength has declined over the years, you’ve learned quite a few strange and bizarre things! That last move was called Blood Sacrifice, and this one is called True Eye?”
Gannon sneered and said, “There’s also Space Tear Slash… Spalithis, though you despise humans, never forget that the glory of the heavens also stems from the power of human faith. Without humans, you, Spalithis, would have long turned into a mere speck of sunlight. I’ve spent many years in the human world, and though I’ve only learned a little, it’s just enough to deal with you! Well… enough nonsense. I no longer have time to waste on you… So, Spalithis… return to the embrace of the Supreme Priest!”
Gannon glared at Spalithis. As he opened his mouth, another gush of blood sprayed out. His momentum surged several times over in an instant. Spalithis’ expression changed, and he said, “What trick is this? Have you already pledged allegiance to the abyssal demons?”
Gannon grinned ferociously and said, “You don’t need to know!”
As he spoke, his figure flashed and he was already beside Spalithis. The two came into brief contact before quickly separating, only to intertwine again. Gannon’s Demon God Axe, like a blazing flame, kept sweeping toward Spalithis.
Spalithis roared in fury. He realized his strength had been completely suppressed by Toronus. That damned blood sacrifice had caused Toronus’ power to soar endlessly, while he remained stuck at the same level. How could he possibly be a match for him under these circumstances?
Unless… the fated moment had arrived…
Suddenly, Spalithis sighed. His figure suddenly hovered in midair. Looking at the blazing flame on Gannon’s Demon God Axe, he smiled and said, “Lord Toronus… it seems I can’t stop you today.”
Upon hearing this, Gannon’s figure froze abruptly. He stared at Spalithis and said gravely, “Spalithis, what do you mean? Do you want to surrender? If so, get lost now!”
