Chapter 020: Conquest
“Puh—”
Amidst the earth-shaking turmoil, Isella’s body sank back underground once again. This time, it was wracked with pain and unable even to emit a cry.
The people present were stunned, their jaws almost dropping to the ground.
This woman fought against a dragon as if playing with a fragile kitten—easily, effortlessly, making one doubt whether that mountain-like dragon was even worth anything.
Yet, someone had already witnessed that dragon’s true strength.
Moreover, the magic swirling in the air and the traceless combat energy all demonstrated Chenchen’s power.
A heavy sense of helplessness overwhelmed them—what kind of realm was this?
Ferey was so astonished he couldn’t speak, while Tasia was also in shock. The way Chenchen used magic was the realm she had strived for her entire life, yet it seemed so far beyond her reach.
The only one excited here was probably Du Fan!
Although the magic in the air nearly cost him his life a few times, he was happy!
The stronger Chenchen became, the more benefits it brought him. Though Chenchen’s power had already dispelled his ambition to trick her into bed, Du Fan felt reassured.
With such a subordinate, not to mention committing evil deeds, even if he were reborn as Tian Boguang possessed by Yunzhonghe, he would be safe! Could his childhood dream of being a flower thief come true?
Chenchen slowly descended from the air. The sacred flame on her body had vanished, and aside from her bewitching smile, nothing indicated her strength.
Du Fan tentatively reached out with his mental energy, but immediately, Chenchen turned to look at him and smiled from afar.
Du Fan’s heart pounded wildly. He knew that if it weren’t him who had tried to probe earlier, his mental energy might have shattered, leaving him an idiot.
Chenchen landed on the back of the green dragon Isella. She kicked its back a few times and said lightly, “So, little dragon, do you still have any thoughts about my proposal?”
Isella grunted, trying to say something but unable to utter a sound.
Chenchen seemed to understand what it meant and said, “So… you’re determined to die rather than submit?”
Isella nodded weakly. Its expression was strange, but it remained resolute.
“Very good,” Chenchen nodded. “I like dragons with some backbone. If a dragon loses its backbone, it can no longer be called a dragon. But then again… backbone is useless in front of me…” As she spoke, Chenchen gently waved her right hand, and a silver thread appeared in her palm. This thread was made of the sacred flame from earlier, extremely powerful. Chenchen held the thread and waved it lightly, and it slipped into Isela’s body without any resistance. Moments later, the thread reappeared, now entwined with a cluster of black arrows—those very same arrows that Du Fan had shot into Isela’s body earlier. Watching Chenchen’s actions, Isela couldn’t recall when an arrow had ended up inside her. Such a tiny weapon could cause almost no harm to her; even if there was one, it wouldn’t matter much. Chenchen saw through Isela’s thoughts. With a slight shake, she caused the arrow to fall between Isela’s brows. Isela suddenly let out a scream and trembled violently. A burning smell emanated from between her brows, and in less than a moment, bare white bones appeared there. Only then did Chenchen shake her hand again, coiling the arrow back up, and said, “Little Longlong… now you know what this is, right?” Filled with fear, Isela wondered what this thing could be that could rot her flesh and scales without causing any pain. Hesitantly, she finally asked, “What exactly is this?” Chenchen replied casually, “It must be some kind of highly poisonous substance. But I forgot its purpose when I prepared it. That person over there probably knows more about its effects.” With that, Chenchen gestured gracefully toward Du Fan. Du Fan, who seemed to share Chenchen’s thoughts, immediately understood what she meant. With a smile, he said loudly, “That arrow is coated with corrosive poison. Just a little contact will rot any creature’s flesh, leading to death unnoticed. For example, that green dragon right here—although it doesn’t realize it, most of its body is probably already rotten.” To prove the poison’s effect, Du Fan casually took out his crossbow and shot at a bone bird still circling in the air. The bone bird struggled desperately but didn’t even get a chance to turn into death energy before melting into black water.
Isela felt her scalp tingle with fear. Though she was determined to die, thinking about the consequences of such poison lingering in her body for so long filled her with utter terror.
However, given the dragons’ formidable physiques, even if this poison were effective against them, its power would be limited. Isela was just unlucky today—she had been scared by Chenchen and thus overestimated the drug’s effectiveness.
Seeing Isela’s expression, Chenchen smiled again. She looked down at the green dragon, who was countless times larger than her, and said in a low voice, “Very well… little dragon… I’ll ask you one last time… Will you accept my terms, or do you prefer to rot away little by little here? My companion has enough potion, and I have enough skill. I believe I can lock you here for thousands of years, watching your body slowly rot until only a bare dragon head remains…”
Isela grunted in response, staying silent.
Chenchen glared at her for a long time before smiling seductively. “Do you really think I won’t do it?”
As soon as she finished speaking, Chenchen raised her hand and effortlessly lifted Isela up. With a gentle toss, the massive body of the green dragon flew through the air and crashed back to the ground. This time, Isela’s belly was facing upward.
Chenchen lightly jumped onto it, tapping her toes on Isela’s belly from time to time. After a while, she finally said, “Alright… I’ve chosen a spot… Let’s start right here… I’ve always thought it’s a shame that dragons don’t have navels—it ruins their beauty. How about I dig one for you that will get bigger and bigger? Little dragon…”
Chenchen spoke cheerfully, smiling seductively, but Isela was terrified. She finally realized that this woman could do anything. If she refused her terms, she wouldn’t even be able to commit suicide…
The poor green dragon let out a low roar, filled with pleading and fear. At this moment, it understood that in the face of Chenchen’s power, a dragon’s pride and dignity meant nothing.
“Have you finally agreed? Little dragon…” Chenchen stopped moving. She looked down at the green dragon beneath her. “Become my mount? For life?”
Isela’s voice trembled as she replied, “Yes! Great master!”
“Great?” Chenchen lowered her head and pondered for a moment before finally judging her mount. “What an arrogant and shameless worthless dragon!”
Isela felt extremely ashamed and hung her head in disappointment.
Chenchen walked up to Isela’s head. With a gentle lift of her right hand, the arrows on the ground flew back up, leaving a mark between Isela’s brows.
Two bone-white marks intertwined, forming a perfect cross.
Du Fan stared in astonishment at all this… This Chenchen… had actually turned a dragon into a mount just like that?
Then he started to worry again. A dragon must eat a lot, right? This dragon, which could barely be considered under his control,—who else could raise it besides him?
And the most troublesome part was, where should this dragon be raised? Could it be in his courtyard?
Good heavens! Was there enough space there for it to land?
But Du Fan soon realized that his worries were completely unfounded.
Chenchen’s right hand trembled slightly, and several invisible beams of holy flame were drawn back from Isela’s body. Isela felt a sense of relief and quickly stood up, looking dejected.
Although it had regained its mobility, it showed no sign of resistance. Though dragons were arrogant, they kept their promises. Even the worthless Isela had fulfilled this perfectly.
Of course, if it dared to break its promise, Chenchen likely had tens of thousands of ways to make it obey.
“What kind of dragon are you?” Chenchen asked.
Isela bowed deeply, like a poodle. “Great master, I am Isela, the Green Dragon, one of the five guardian dragon clans. Our Green Dragons rule the Emerald Dream, so I can be considered a Dragon of Dreams.”
“A Dragon of Dreams?”
Chenchen turned to look at Isela several times before suddenly smiling and saying, “If even you are a Dragon of Dreams, then wouldn’t I be the supreme god? With your meager abilities, where is any trace of the grace of a Dragon of Dreams?”
