Chapter 26: A Battle That Shatters Cities (9)
The best way to deal with such a mixed magic was to use the same tactics against the opponent. Rebrí was well aware of his old friend Lorenzo’s magical skills. It was clearly impossible to defeat him easily—this would be a tough and prolonged battle. It was still too early to predict who would win.
The bluish-gray mage robe fluttered slightly as Rebrí gently folded his hands together, staring straight ahead. His index and middle fingers kept changing positions, and his lips moved subtly, as if he were using some form of lip-reading technique.
Soon, under the bright sunlight, something strange happened. It was as if a cold wind blew in from the sky, darkening the sunlight instantly. A black shadow swept across the sky, quickly generating a fierce wind above the obelisk.
The violent wind disrupted the elemental energies in the air. The mages could feel the magical elements scattering everywhere, as if a large-scale spell had lost control. The surging elemental energies penetrated everywhere and seemed to be growing rapidly, filling the mages with fear. Was this a sign of the magic circle going out of control or the onset of a massive spell? And who would be its target?
Another mixed magic?! Lorenzo also felt the power of his opponent’s attack. His old friend had prepared some “surprises” for him—it seemed not only was he improving, but so was his opponent.
The violent elemental energies disrupted the effectiveness of “Bright Beauty” instantly. At the same time, that black shadow locked onto him. It seemed Rebrí not only wanted to destroy “Bright Beauty” but also target him directly, aiming to eradicate him completely!
That shadow expanded several times in an instant and struck Lorenzo like a thunderbolt.
Lorenzo’s expression turned solemn. From the moment he took that step, he knew this battle with his old friend would be a fight to the death. In this battle that determined the fate of both of them, no one would hold back.
His fingers moved lightly through the air, and a brilliant wave-shaped shield appeared above Lorenzo’s head. Although he was defending passively, the fierce dark shadows couldn’t penetrate this pale yellow shield. The shadows seemed to be absorbed by the shield, like endless dust absorbing the dark forces descending from above.
Rebrí’s expression changed slightly—this was the Shield of the Holy Angel!
Back when he first joined the Church of Light, his greatest wish was to possess the ability to unleash the Shield of the Holy Angel, which could absorb any opposing forces, especially those of darkness. Although he had successfully cast a mixed spell and achieved the desired effect with elemental magic, he hadn’t expected that the even more powerful force of dark absorption would be countered by the opponent.
Rebri slammed his staff into the ground, causing a sudden surge of dark energy! The entire ground trembled slightly. Before Lorenzo could even react, he felt an sucking force from the west trap his feet. In an instant, the ground dropped to his knees, and boiling mud surged upward, seemingly intent on engulfing his entire body.
“What an impressive earth magic!” Caesar couldn’t help raising his eyebrows. Though he knew that this single move alone couldn’t defeat one of the two giants of the Tribunal, he was still worried about the damage it might cause to Lorenzo. After all, launching such a fierce earth magic attack at close range showed that the traitor from the Church of Light had mastered elemental magic to a high degree.
Lorenzo also frowned slightly. Rebri’s skill in elemental magic was beyond his expectations. Using elemental magic to counter his own light magic—was this Rebri’s style? No, it definitely wasn’t. It was merely a decoy; Rebri wanted to use elemental magic to distract him, while his true scheme surely stemmed from dark magic!
With a light lift of his body, pure magic flowed into his veins. Lorenzo muttered a spell, and the power of light surged through his body, instantly blocking the sucking force. With a leap, he escaped the boiling mud.
“God of Light, grant the power of the saints! Lord of Restoration, strike back!” Lorenzo’s face paled for a moment as a faint glow seeped through his fingers into the mud. The boiling mud suddenly froze, turning into a lava-like mass.
The fierce power of light rushed through Rebri’s feet straight into his chest and abdomen. The intense pain nearly shattered the dark essence within him!
Rebri had successfully created two primordial forces within his body. The light primordial force was submerged deep within him, while the magic primordial force that controlled his body had become completely dark. That scorching light force burned so intensely that it nearly made him scream. If it weren’t for him promptly casting an enhancement spell on himself, Lorenzo’s cunning move would have utterly defeated him!
Two consecutive enhancement spells rapidly boosted the dark primordial force, neutralizing that scorching heat within him. Rebri realized how fierce Lorenzo’s counterattack was. Clearly, his opponent shared the same idea—that rather than proving oneself through magic, it was better to destroy the source of that magic itself, as that would be the truest and most complete victory. Of course, achieving such a victory also carried much greater risks!
If that was the case, then let there be a truly epic clash!
With Rebri’s interference disrupting the light enchantments, the three members of the Sorenborg group could finally slowly turn the tide. The intense struggle was truly terrifying—sword flashes, blade glints, swirling spear spells—making the knights on the battlefield unable to look away, even knowing it was a life-or-death battle.
“Qin Reina, it’s your turn!” Caesar took a deep breath. “End it quickly. No need to hold back!”
A white figure flashed down into the battlefield. The crystal-clear knight’s spear handle seemed awkward in the hands of this somewhat short knight, but no one dared underestimate him. He was also the deputy leader of the Wind Riders, a Holy Knight who had already taken half a step toward sainthood!
