Chapter 34: Miss Veli’s Gift, Part 1
The heavy valve was like a wall of sighs that had existed since ancient times. When it opened, everyone stopped making noise.
They were surprised—extremely surprised. For they remembered the tricks Beth and Richard’s little guy had played just before they left. Over three thousand destruction arrays were enough to destroy everything near the dock. Without the dock, the Moore Star Station would surely fall into utter chaos. Under such circumstances, how could the station’s valve, which required 30% of the energy supply to operate, possibly open?
Yet, in fact, it did open—not only that, but a fleet also emerged from within.
A dilapidated fleet that seemed on the verge of disintegrating at any moment.
If Blackhair and the others had paid close attention, they would have realized that the main part of this fleet consisted of those very Moore giants that once terrified all humans!
But what kind of Moore giants were these? Once mighty, their armor was covered in dents, and their gun turrets were twisted and misaligned. Large bursts of flames erupted from their hulls from time to time. Even their strongest bow sections were cracked and deformed without exception. If only, Blackwolf and his crew could have believed it was an illusion.
Unfortunately, this was the 763 Star Station—no illusions for the pirates to enjoy, no movies to watch. Soon, these broken ships lined up in two rows, leaving Blackhair’s small ship in the middle, forming a wide corridor. At the end of the corridor was the station’s massive valve.
“This… Well, I admit I’m a bit drunk. But my eyes aren’t blurry. Who can tell me what this means?” Bloodpupil opened his mouth, swallowed hard, and spoke.
“Boss, it seems they’re asking us to go in…” A few pirates beside Bloodpupil replied, equally stunned.
But this only stirred up trouble. Bloodpupil, who had been somewhat calm before, jumped up at the word “go in.” His eyes widened in shock. “Go in!? What the hell are you talking about!?”
“I’ve gone through so much trouble setting up these tricks and finally made it out. I was about to be free at last. Now you want me to go back in!? No way. I’d rather die than do it! Once I go in, I’ll never get out!!”
This is complete nonsense. Everyone rolled their eyes. Who doesn’t know that? But the problem is—given that they’ve already deployed such a massive formation, and your controller has failed, how can you possibly break through with this little spaceship? Well, we know those Moth giant ships outside are in terrible condition, but still, they’re war weapons. Our little spaceship can’t just fight them off. It’s strange then why they didn’t allow the use of the Gale Wind from the start.
In their anxiety, the pirates never considered that if they had used the Gale Wind, they probably wouldn’t have even been able to enter the space station. Lord Baker’s name was well-known at the 76 Triple Star Station. And now that Miss Veli had left and the opposing faction controlled the station, if he were detected in advance, he would likely be torn to pieces right away.
“Enter,” the Black-Haired man suddenly said. Somehow, he had already returned to his chair. The glass of red wine in his hand swayed slightly—no trace of anxiety left in him at all.
Seeing him like this, all the pirates were extremely puzzled. Some even thought the Black-Haired man had been stunned by the sudden change in situation. Otherwise, how could he be so calm? But since their leader had given the order, they still adhered to the excellent traditions of the Blood Wolf Pirates and carried it out as quickly as possible. The little spaceship spun lightly in space before diving into the vast, dark maw of the space station like a bird.
As soon as they entered the space station, the first thing they saw was a scene of utter chaos. The once orderly airport was in complete disarray. All the docks were ruined, especially the one they had just left—entirely gone. All that remained was a smooth cut surface, with remnants of melting from high temperatures still visible. Everything around it seemed to have vanished as if by magic.
Everyone exchanged glances and smiled, glancing at the few kids beside them.
This was the power of the Destruction Array. A weapon developed specifically on death stars to compensate for individual combat strength—more of a destruction machine than a bomb. Though small and easy to carry, its power was astonishing. A single sphere could easily melt an ordinary mech into slag. What was even more remarkable was its unique feature, reflected in its name itself.
Destruction Arrays – what are arrays? A small ball certainly can’t qualify for such a name. To unleash its true power, it must be paired with an appropriate number and arrangement. Generally, odd numbers are used, followed by the arrangements specified in the instructions. Once completed, these balls form a bizarre energy-amplification array that boosts their own energy by a hundred times and absorbs a large number of free particles from the surrounding space until the array reaches saturation. The larger the array, the more free particles it can absorb, and the greater its destructive power once saturated.
When they left just now, Li Cha and Beth’s crew had thrown down over three thousand Destruction Arrays. Although the pirates didn’t know the exact destructive parameters, it was obvious to them that such a large number of arrays must possess terrifying destructive power. This could be seen from the devastation around them. The entire space station no longer had even a complete dock. In the vast navigation lanes, only a few isolated metal arms protruded from the remnants of the airport, likely serving as temporary docks. The landing spots for the small ships were among these metal arms.
“Tch…” The cabin door opened again. The scene that appeared before their eyes shocked all the pirates.
On the ruined temporary dock, dense clusters of dark figures resembled swarms of restless locusts. Their cold stone-like armor, blood-red electronic eyes, and massive, violently built bodies all revealed their identity: self-moving armor, the most ruthless killing weapons of the Moors.
“Are you already so eager?” A cold laugh came from the dark-haired man still in the cabin. He stood up, pushed aside his subordinates blocking his path, and stepped to the cabin door, being the first to descend the ladder of the small ship. Faced with nearly a thousand giant humanoid machines, he showed no sign of nervousness, instead wearing a mocking smile.
“Is this how you plan to welcome me?”
With those words, the red lights in the eyes of the self-moving armor on the other side flared up. Unexpectedly, they didn’t attack but instead stepped aside, revealing a wide corridor. A group of Moors approached tremblingly.
These were people the dark-haired man had never seen before. But judging from their demeanor and the ranks on their shoulders, they seemed to be high-ranking officials. Of course, unlike the Modos he had killed himself, these people were at most at the level of guard captains. In the peak of the dark-haired man’s strength, they probably wouldn’t even deserve the chance to speak to him.
But now, the highest governor of Station 76-3 has been taken out by Li Cha and Beth’s little guys. They can only act rashly. From such close range, Black Hair could even see the helplessness on their faces, and… anger.
“Lord Beck, do you know what you just did? And yet you blame us for our attitude toward you? Let me tell you, this is nothing. I wish I could throw you into a rock crusher right now and feed your remains to dogs!!” A Mordor captain finally couldn’t bear the oppressive atmosphere any longer and spoke up first. His tone was fierce, but for some reason, Black Hair sensed something unusual in it.
It sounded like fear. Yes, fear. Despite the captain’s aggressive demeanor, Black Hair noticed a hint of timidity in his eyes as he spoke, along with a slight tremor in his little fingers. Those were signs of someone with a guilty conscience. Black Hair trusted his judgment. He didn’t think the man was just angry.
So Black Hair smiled. A happy smile.
“Then why don’t you do it? There are thousands of self-propelled armor units here. I doubt you think I can still resist. And since you want me dead so much, why not come a little closer? Words alone won’t solve anything. A man should take action.”
“You!!” The guard captain grew furious. His little fingers trembled even more.
Nonsense. I want to kill you right away too. But I’m not stupid. How did Governor Mordor die? I may not have seen it with my own eyes, but the surveillance footage explains everything. Damn it, you want me to get closer so you can use that throat-squashing trick again? Despicable! Truly despicable!!
As for those self-propelled armor units you mentioned… Ah, Mother Tiya above. Why is this guy so blind!? If I really could control those mechs, would I need to come here and argue with you? I want to kill you right away!! But…
The guard captain glanced at the self-propelled armor around him, a hint of helplessness on his face. Then, under the gaze of all the Blood Wolf pirates, he suddenly did something astonishing.
He knelt on one knee…
“I, Tibido, captain of the guards at Station 76-3, surrender to Lord Beck…” Swallowing hard, the guard captain felt as if there was a blade in his throat.
“I surrender!”
