Chapter 33: The Best Hitman of This Century, Section 10

But it was too late to say anything now.
As a military stronghold, even Moor Station housed a large number of merchants, yet its defenses were by no means weakened. The weapons of the Moors were so powerful that even they might not be able to withstand them.
Take that blue light that just appeared—seemingly only a few hundred meters in diameter—but its power was astonishing. Moorian warships were already renowned for their robust defenses, yet under its attack, three of their engine nozzles were destroyed in an instant, which spoke volumes.
The problem was that the weapon emitting that blue light was merely a low-grade short-range self-defense weapon at Moor Station. There were many, many stronger weapons!
The executive was extremely frustrated. Seeing that about 20% of the numerous cannons on the station had begun rotating slowly, his heart turned to ice.
If he still didn’t understand what was happening under such circumstances, then he didn’t deserve to be an executive on routine patrols—he might as well just hit his head against a wall and die.
These suddenly appeared thugs had taken control of some of the station’s defense systems!!
What a joke!?
The executive spat violently, his eyes turning red.
Was Moor Station that easy to control? A massive stronghold equivalent to several planets combined, its defenses far exceeded anyone’s imagination. Trying to seize control by force was even more absurd than finding a pie falling from the sky. One needed sufficient insiders, and moreover, insiders with extremely high status. It was simply an impossible task!!
Yet these thugs had done it. Not only that—they could even use these weapons to attack them! What did that mean?
In just an instant, the executive realized that at least one of these sudden thugs must be a current or former high-ranking officer of the 763 Star Station!!
Rebellion!?
That term flashed through the executive’s mind first, his expression turning ferocious. As Hei Fa had learned, the Moor Empire was not only strong externally but also extremely sensitive to certain actions within its own territory—especially rebellion, to the point of extreme hostility. Anyone involved, no matter how minor, would be killed if not already dead.
“Abandon all evasion tactics. Full firepower. Concentrate attacks on that small spaceship. We must shoot them down at all costs!!” Gritting his teeth, the executive issued this order.

The Moors’ colossal ships slowly unfolded in silence—vast, enormous vessels revealing their ferocious claws to Blackhair. Almost as soon as the executive gave the order, thousands of thick beams of blue light shot forth like spears piercing the night sky, rushing at the small ship from all directions!!
The blue lights were so dense that even in this vast cosmic space, their appearance caused Bloodpupil and the others to widen their pupils in shock, their faces turning pale. Because there was no way to escape!!
The Moors’ blue lights were extremely powerful and precise. In the past, they might have been able to avoid them using the special energy shields of their lightning assault ships or the subspace jumps of their mechs. But now, they were utterly helpless. First, there were too many blue lights, blocking all escape routes. Second, to conceal their intentions, the small ships they were piloting actually served only as shuttles—lacking not only weapons but also minimal armor!!
In an instant, the ship’s screens were once again filled with blue light. That dazzling color now represented an invitation from death. The intense energy caused the ship’s alarms to blare, and everyone in the cabin turned deathly pale.
In fact, it wasn’t just them—Blackhair hadn’t expected this outcome either!
In his plans, using the privileges he had acquired in the past to launch a surprise attack on the space station’s control room was supposed to be his trump card. No matter how many defense fleets the enemy had, seeing anomalies at their own space station would surely throw them into chaos. This was the perfect opportunity for Blackhair. If he could seize it, escaping unscathed would be effortless.
But he never expected that the Moors’ hatred for traitors meant they ignored the anomalies at the space station and launched a fatal attack on Blackhair right away. Those countless blue lights filling the starry sky were nothing short of an invitation from death, declaring Blackhair’s doom.
There was nothing to do. At this point, even Blackhair was at a loss.
As a commander, he certainly shouldn’t rely on just one backup plan. But this sudden change left him with no time to prepare any alternatives. Damn it! If he had known this would happen, he wouldn’t have used this rickety small ship for the mission—he should have switched to the Stormblade!
But it was too late to say anything now. Blackhair could only watch helplessly as the blue lights filled his vision, waiting for the inevitable moment to arrive.

It sounded complicated, but it actually took just an instant. At that very moment, something no one expected happened. Suddenly, the massive space station behind the small spaceship burst into intense light, and a thick white halo appeared around it. The halo was so dense that nothing could penetrate it; from a distance, it resembled a huge white sphere!

It was like… the thick cocoon of a silkworm.

Then, this thick cocoon absorbed all the blue light. Countless powerful beams struck it like a storm, creating layers of light and shadow. The intensity was as if the cocoon were being torn apart layer by layer! Strands of pure white energy were ripped apart and lifted into the air, disappearing into the starry sky like angelic feathers. The beauty of that moment left everyone who witnessed it utterly enchanted!

The small spaceship inside the cocoon wasn’t spared either. Although the cocoon absorbed almost all the attacks, they still came from the Moth giant ships. Given the sheer power of those ships, their concentrated attacks were far beyond human imagination. So at that moment, the group led by Black Hair was trapped like in an airtight canister, suffering greatly. The violent shaking of the spaceship made it impossible for them to stand steadily—pure chaos. Many Blood Wolf pirates were knocked unconscious with bloody heads, in a pitiful state.

Yet they were filled with joy. Just a few seconds earlier, they had been on the verge of despair. How could ordinary people endure such extreme fluctuations? In the entire cabin, aside from Black Hair who managed to stay calm, almost everyone’s face was contorted in pain.

“Why…” As everyone was still in shock, Black Hair asked this question. “Why is the Moth space station protecting us? Don’t they know we’re their enemies? Or… do they not want us to die now?”

“I don’t know either…” Blood Eyes replied blankly. But then he casually glanced at the controller in his hand, his expression instantly changing. “Bad news, boss! I’ve lost control of the space station!!”

“Damn it! How is that possible!?” Not only Black Hair but everyone was stunned. At this critical moment, they all understood what losing control of the space station meant.

It can be said that much hinges on whether Black Hair can escape at this critical moment. Although they can’t control the entire space station, controlling just a part is enough for them to manipulate things. But if they even lose that control, the fate awaiting Black Hair and his group becomes unpredictable.

Another thing that puzzles everyone is why the space station still provides such strong protection even after losing control. The light cocoon that remains intact under the concentrated fire of five Moor giant ships is by no means a trivial detail.

In fact, this light cocoon is officially known as the Free Wave Layer Defense System. Though its name is simple, it is a vital lifeline for the Moor Empire, equipped in every space station. Once activated, it can create an absolute protective barrier anywhere within 5,000 kilometers around the space station. As long as energy supplies last, no attack can destroy this defense.

Of course, such exceptional effectiveness comes at a significant cost. To maintain this barrier, the space station must rely on its entire energy system. During its operation, all other military and civilian systems are shut down to free up energy for the barrier. Even so, a single space station cannot sustain this barrier for more than five minutes.

Five minutes may seem short, but in a rapidly changing battlefield, it can lead to tremendous changes. This is precisely what makes this barrier so astonishing. It is also because of this that, with a space station as a backing, the combat power of Moor giant ships can truly be called invincible. Without it, they are merely powerful warships.

Yet, surprises don’t stop there. While Black Hair and the others were still struggling with the loss of control over the space station, darkness suddenly enveloped them—the light cocoon that sustained the entire ship vanished without a trace. Soon after, a flood of blue light filled everyone’s vision once again.

But this time, no one was panicked. Even a fool could see that those blue lights did not come from them but from the Moorish ships blocking their path. Those blue lights were yet another attack launched by the space station!! And this attack was far less gentle than the last. The space station clearly used highly powerful fortress weapons, and just one salvo shattered the remaining Moorish ships, with three of the five giant ships being reduced to wrecks outright. The other two were also severely damaged, emitting bright flames everywhere—clearly beyond repair.
Then, under everyone’s watchful eyes, the one-kilometer-thick giant gates of the 763 Space Station suddenly opened slowly once again…
