Chapter 2: The Appearance of a Gentleman, Section 10
A loud voice, combined with the intimidating presence of Bull’s massive build, was astonishing. Not only were the scavengers around in a state of panic, but even Hei Fa himself wondered if the guy was mentally unstable.
If he wanted to demand payment, fine—why make such a fuss? Did he really want others to ignore his strength?
Clearly, Bull’s loud voice was effective. His roar made the roof vibrate, scaring OldBuick, who was gripping Hei Fa’s thigh, to the point of fleeing in terror. He rolled behind Hei Fa, his legs trembling, refusing to show his head again.
The entire warehouse fell into a deadly silence. Everyone’s gaze focused on the three men in the center.
Satisfied with the effect of his voice, Bull first turned to grin at his two companions before facing back.
“Kid, it’s obvious that OldBuick has given up on paying you. But since you’re from out of town, I can’t hide it from you. You know about the Warriors Association, right? George is a pilot sent by the Warriors Association to the town of Kukare. OldBuick hired him but didn’t provide insurance. Now that something’s gone wrong, he owes us an explanation.” Bull’s sharp eyes stared intently at Hei Fa’s face, trying to read something from his expression.
It wasn’t surprising he was cautious. Though he didn’t know much about this young man, the reactions of the scavengers around him and the information from the association allowed him to assess the young man’s significance.
Killing a mutated vulture with his bare hands, displaying formidable combat skills on his first flight in a magic mecha—everything about him made Bull highly alert and observe him more closely. It seemed as though beneath his seemingly gentle appearance, something was hidden.
Unfortunately, no matter how closely he looked, all this ordinary-looking young man could convey was one impression: gentle… a harmless gentleness.
“Hei Fa, don’t listen to them. They’re all thugs, using the Warriors Association’s name to oppress us scavengers. Talking about insurance? That’s nonsense. It’s the duty of bodyguards to fight for their employers—why should our boss pay for their mistakes?”
“Yes, exactly! If not for Hei Fa, we’d all be left in trouble. So-called Warriors Association technicians who can’t even save their own lives—how can they protect us?”
“I’ve always disliked those arrogant guys. Now they’ve even started bullying our boss. If our boss falls, we won’t have a good life either. Since we can’t survive otherwise, let’s fight them together!!”
Someone must have started it—suddenly, the scavengers around them all became noisy. Their anger was uncontrollable, and unrest began to spread among them.
After all, OldBuick was their lifeline. If the Warrior Association took control of him, they wouldn’t be able to sell their hard-earned goods at fair prices, and the dismantling factory would surely fall under the control of the Warrior Association. For those living on the edge of poverty, this would be utter destruction.
Disputes exist everywhere… Black Hair sighed lightly, a satisfied smile appearing on his face. It was this sudden smile that silenced the crowd around him. Everyone wanted to see what this man, rescued by OldBuick from hardship, would do at this moment.
“An explanation? What kind of explanation do you want?” Black Hair tilted his head slightly to get a better view. Through his thick black hair covering his forehead, his bright eyes stared straight at the three burly men.
“Heh, it seems you understand, kid. In front of the Warrior Association, you scavengers have no future. Well, considering how hard you’ve worked for this town, I won’t say much. Starting today, dissolve OldBuick’s organization and hand over the dismantling factory to our association, and that’s it. Those scavengers who want to stay will still be treated as before. Those who want to leave won’t be forced to stay, but don’t expect to take anything with you.”
After a pause, Bullman laughed, pleased to see the scavengers stunned by his words.
“I’m being generous with you poor wretches. The association has invested heavily this time. We’re being lenient just to reorganize the market for mechanical mechs. Otherwise, do you think a warrior’s life is that worthless?”
Reorganize the mechanical mech market!?
The scavengers were confused, unable to guess the Warrior Association’s intentions. Did Planet Xieke still think their proud magic mechs weren’t strong enough? Were they even going to interfere in the basic mechanical mech market?
Of course, no matter how hard they tried, they wouldn’t figure it out. The Warrior Association’s move was caused by Black Hair’s actions in the mental network.
But obviously, the reason no longer matters here. Looking back at the trembling Mr.Buick behind him and at the silent scavengers around, Black Hair thought carefully for a moment, then sighed suddenly, raising his head with an expression as calm as still water. “I’m sorry, esteemed gentlemen. Although I understand the purpose of your visit, I still cannot fulfill your request.” Black Hair’s gentle voice echoed in the warehouse, unhurried and composed, as if he were merely recounting someone else’s story with no connection to himself. “I believe you’re aware that I’m a man in distress. It was Mr.Buick who saved me from death and hired me as his employee—I’m very grateful to him. As an employee, I must always be responsible to my employer. So, gentlemen, perhaps you should propose a price that satisfies Mr.Buick so that you can more legitimately take control of this place.” “So you really intend to stand in the way of our Warriors Association?” Bullface suddenly demanded angrily, his face twisted in fury. His two followers stepped forward as well. A fierce murderous aura spread instantly, so intense that even the scavengers nearby could sense it, causing the crowd to stir again. “You brat, how dare you be so insolent! Do you think our Warriors Association is just for show? I’m telling you—this factory is ours now. If you dare stand in our way, give it a try and see if your wretched lives are stronger or if our mechs are!” With Bullface’s shout, the ground suddenly shook violently. Under everyone’s eyes, a wall of the warehouse collapsed with a loud roar. Countless steel rebar shattered, revealing the gray sky outside. A giant figure stepped in from outside.
