Chapter 7: Complicity (Part 2)
Li Ran said, “Lead the way. Open your warehouse.”
Bu Ruobugong was speechless, not expecting these people to be here to rob them. With such strength yet still resorting to robbery—it was utterly ridiculous. He had been guarding here mainly to prevent defeated soldiers from looting, but instead of them, even more formidable foes had arrived—those very soldiers who had been defeated by them. He was straightforward and said, “Let go of me, and I’ll take you there!”
Li Ran wasn’t expecting this guy to be so sensible. He nodded and said, “Good!” He didn’t care if the other party was playing tricks; under absolute strength, any clever tactics would only end in disaster.
The seven of them followed Bu Ruobugong into the giant building. There were a few more people guarding the metal door—administrators of the place. Seeing Bu Ruobugong leading others in, they didn’t dare stop them, but each planned to report the incident later.
As they passed by those people, Bu Ruobugong suddenly attacked, delivering a punch to each of their heads. His speed seemed ordinary to Guo Shier, but to ordinary people, it was as fast as lightning. They had no time to react and were killed instantly. Bu Ruobugong sneered and said, “I knew what you were thinking!” Then he continued forward, ignoring Li Ran and the others.
Guo Shier said, “Killing them to silence them—this guy is ruthless.”
Bu Ruobugong turned around and nodded at Guo Shier, implying, “You’re right.” He didn’t care at all about killing.
Li Ran said, “Killing them won’t help. There must be surveillance devices here.”
Bu Ruobugong replied, “No one is guarding here anymore. After you leave, someone will empty this place. Even if no one comes to clean it up, I plan to… set it on fire!”
Qi Wuzhen asked curiously, “Do you like setting fires?”
Everyone was stunned, thinking, “It’s one thing if you like setting fires, but are you also planning to find a partner who likes it too?”
Bu Ruobugong said, “Setting fires… is the best way to destroy evidence. I’ve always liked it.”
Qi Wuzhen nodded and said, “Since you like setting fires too, then… when we leave, we’ll let you go.”
Bu Ruobugong nodded. He could tell Qi Wuzhen held a high status. When Qi Wuzhen had acted earlier, he had taken a quick glance, but before he could see clearly, he had already been beaten half to death. He said, “Down there is a metal door six meters thick… I can’t open it.”
It was a hemispherical metal door, extremely thick—so thick that even attacks with star weapons would find it hard to open. It was the largest and safest storage warehouse in the city.
Li Ran said calmly, “You don’t need to worry about how to open it. Just watch.”
Bu Ruobugong added, “Just a reminder—this door is connected to a self-destruct mechanism. If forced open, it will trigger a chain reaction. Unless you can completely shatter it within five breaths, it’s better not to try.”
Guo Shier smiled and said, “Let me take care of it.” Holding a refined Void Worm in his hand, he chuckled, “I’ve always liked causing chaos, hehe.” With a slap, he sent the Void Worm into the metal door and then cast a series of spells.
The space here was extremely stable, so the Void Worm’s effect was limited to at most six or seven meters around—just enough for Guo Shier to use. Of course, he wouldn’t risk disrupting the space stability further by using spells, as that would cause an area of a hundred meters to collapse into voidness instantly.
Bu Ruobugong found it amusing and thought to himself, “This is the latest synthetic metal. It’s almost impossible to break it in five breaths. Explosives… are completely useless.”
The moment this thought crossed his mind, the door vanished silently. Soon after, an eight-meter-diameter hole appeared—the entire door and the surrounding metal walls were gone, as if bitten off by an invisible monster. The broken metal glowed, showing fresh fractures, clearly just broken, and smooth as if cut by a machine.
Guo Shier said, “Done!”
Li Ran praised, “Very good. The idea is solid, but the cost is high. Hehe, it depends on whether the contents of this warehouse are worth it.”
They laughed as they entered.
It was a fully enclosed metal hall filled with metal boxes—clearly used to store blue crystals. There were also many boxes containing spirit jade, along with various other boxes of different kinds. The most numerous were those holding blue crystals, almost filling half of the hall.
Even Bu Ruobugong couldn’t resist wanting to grab some, even though he was a high-ranking priest. He had never been here before and sighed, “You’re going to get rich. Just these blue crystals alone are incredibly valuable.”
Everyone began taking items, seven copies each, then one for themselves. As for the other items, no one touched them. But Bu Ruobugong understood that some things were extremely valuable. He asked, “Can I take some of these items?”
Guo Shier didn’t help but laugh. This guy was interesting—he didn’t wait for everyone to leave before taking things but asked directly. He said, “There’s no problem if you want some, but why should we give them to you?”
Bu Ruobugong replied, “I know of another small secret warehouse where there are also good things.”
Guo Shier waved his hand and said, “Then there’s no problem. The stuff here is yours.” It was the typical act of benefiting others at no cost to himself, while even getting the location of a secret warehouse.
Bu Ruobugong immediately rushed to the center of the hall. He didn’t take many things, just some documents. Guo Shier asked curiously, “What’s the use of these documents?”
Li Ran guessed, “They must be anonymous vouchers.”
Guo Shier was confused. “What anonymous vouchers?”
Li Ran smiled and said, “You don’t even know this? It’s just… once given to the right person, it becomes money.”
Guo Shier nodded. “It’s useless to me, so it’s worthless then…”
Bu Ruobugong finally couldn’t help but laugh. He had already given up hope, not expecting that he could use this opportunity to leave the consortium. But now he had to start fleeing. What he hadn’t considered yet was that once this place was completely destroyed, he wouldn’t need to flee at all—just keeping his life would be enough.
He packed a bunch of things into three large bundles, slung one on his back, and carried two more in each hand. He said, “I’ll take you to that secret warehouse.”
Guo Shier asked, “Don’t you have any storage items?”
Bu Ruobugong couldn’t help but sigh bitterly. “By storage items, do you mean spatial storage?”
Guo Shier replied, “Yes. Don’t you have any?”
Bu Ruobugong lifted one of the large bundles and said with a wry smile, “If I did, I wouldn’t have to go through this… I heard that only the high-ranking members of the Secret Clan and their top experts might have it… How could people like us possibly have such valuable things?”
Guo Shier tossed him a talisman bag. “Try this…”
Talisman bags were almost universal among the major sects in the world of talismans. For lower-level disciples, they were extremely precious, but for advanced professionals, they were quite common. Guo Shier had robbed many cities and sects, obtaining countless talisman bags, so they were nothing special to him.
Bu Ruobugong was stunned, holding the talisman bag in disbelief. He vaguely knew this might be some kind of space storage item, but he couldn’t believe that those who had been enemies just now would give him such an extremely precious object. Stammering, he said, “This… this is…”
Guo Shier was a bit impatient. “It’s the space storage item you mentioned. Try it yourself to see if it works. If not, there’s nothing we can do.”
Bu Ruobugong tried it briefly and found it functional—it could indeed store things. He was astonished and exclaimed in joy, “It… it works! It really works… It’s true!”
Guo Shier said, “Nonsense. If it weren’t true, would it be false? Do I need to lie to you?”
Bu Ruobugong hurriedly replied, “No, that’s not what I meant. It’s just… I didn’t expect it.” After a pause, he added, “Thank you… I really appreciate it…” Without hesitation, he put all the documents and valuable papers he couldn’t carry before into the talisman bag.
Guo Shier said, “I’ll give you one minute. Then we’ll leave.”
As Bu Ruobugong quickly packed everything into the bag, he said, “I won’t delay. I’ll be done in a moment.” He stuffed things in frantically. At first, he checked carefully, but later he stopped looking altogether and just used the talisman bag to scoop everything in. One minute was too short, but he didn’t dare delay. When the time was up, seeing Guo Shier and the others heading out, he immediately followed without looking back at the items on the ground.
As soon as they stepped out of the giant building, Qi Wu Zhen started setting fire, showing her prowess on land. The entire ground trembled as she activated the magma underground. In an instant, flames erupted from the giant building, leaving Bu Ruobugong in awe. This was true arson—flames strong enough to melt steel.
Bu Ruobugong said, “Follow me!” He was now certain that as long as he survived this time, he would surely make a fortune. So, from his initial reluctance, he had now become willing.
He led the seven of them to a relatively secluded area filled with numerous storage buildings. There were hardly any people around. Bu Ruobugong said, “With your abilities, you can easily break through the defenses here…” He kicked open a warehouse door and quickly dodged to the side. An ear-splitting noise came from inside—it was the weapon system activating and launching automatic attacks.
Guo Shier’s Moon Blade flew out and instantly turned into countless light blades, crashing inward.
