Chapter 7: Complicity (Part 1)

Li Ran activated the map of Liewen Star, and a three-dimensional image of a planet rose from the cube. He gently moved his fingers over the cube, and the image began to zoom in. Smiling, he said, “We can locate it…” He seemed very familiar with this device. Soon, a red dot appeared on the slowly rotating planet.

The area around the red dot zoomed in rapidly, and in the blink of an eye, the city where Li Ran’s team was located appeared before everyone’s eyes. Li Ran said, “This is virtual mode…” Then he added, “Search for storage locations…” Dozens of blue dots appeared immediately.

This was a search function that could locate any desired building, even the residents they were looking for. Since this was a government-exclusive map, it contained vast amounts of information, many of which were classified as confidential.

Li Ran said, “Remove the unimportant ones. I need the largest storage locations.” With that, he eliminated most of the blue dots, leaving only three. He zoomed in on each one one by one. Smiling, he said, “This one is the most valuable—it belongs to the government… It has the highest credibility. There might be many valuable items inside. And its location is… haha, right under our feet!”

Upon hearing this, Guo Shieru drew out his Moonblade and plunged it into the ground, instantly creating a crack. He said, “It’s quite thick… Haha, I never expected there to be secrets underground. I’ll go down and take a look.” He leaped into the crack.

This was pure forceful destruction—no one was trying to find an entrance. For them, the so-called defenses here were utterly insignificant. With a single slash, anything could be broken, whether it was rock or synthetic metal—nothing could withstand the violent force of their sacrificial weapons.

The weapons of the spellcasters were extremely powerful, especially after Guo Shieru and the others gained inspiration from the void, which further amplified the power of their sacrificial weapons to terrifying levels.

Soon, they found the government’s storage area for valuables. Most of it consisted of various documents, with only a small portion being the blue crystals that Guo Shieru and the others needed—around a hundred thousand pieces, stored in small metal boxes, with each box containing a thousand crystals. They quickly divided them up.

They also found two boxes of spiritual jade, but in small quantities—only over four hundred pieces, and of average quality. This showed just how valuable spiritual jade was in this world.

As for the other items, everyone wasn’t very interested. Guo Shieru asked, “Where’s the next location?”

Li Ran said, “It’s a large entertainment company that includes three joint casinos. Hehe, places like that… must have tons of treasures. Well, it’s quite close from here. Let me show you the way.”

The seven of them arrived at a giant building. This time, they encountered resistance—hundreds of warriors equipped with ground combat armor. Such armor was only available to large conglomerates and each one was dozens of meters tall.

Guo Shier couldn’t help but whistle. They had killed countless warriors in starlight armor in space and had originally felt nothing special about it. But since battles in space were always fought from a distance, enemies were killed before they could get close, so few warriors managed to approach them. Thus, it wasn’t as shocking as seeing these armors up close. Now, every armor they saw was enormous, and its thunderous footsteps were terrifying once it moved.

However, the seven ignored these armors and were only interested in one person in front of the group of armored warriors.

It was a bald man wearing a black leather jacket, with a wide belt around his waist adorned with some strange items. He held a metal stick in his hand and floated five or six meters above the ground, barefoot. Even in the world of spells or other small worlds, those who could fly would attract attention, as such people were likely to be great masters.

Li Ran and the others lined up, all floating in the air. The man was clearly stunned; he hadn’t expected seven masters to arrive.

“I am Bu Ruobugong, a servant of the Jilong Conglomerate. Who are you? If you’re not here for trouble… please leave!”

Li Ran smiled and said, “Bu Ruobugong? Are you from the Secret Clan?”

Bu Ruobugong’s expression changed instantly. He lowered his voice slightly and said, “I… am not from the Secret Clan. Are you… from the Secret Clan?” Only those with a certain level of strength would know about the Secret Clan or realize how formidable they were. Even countries wouldn’t dare to provoke their members easily.

Although Bu Ruobugong wasn’t from the Secret Clan, he had some connection to them. He had once received guidance from a Secret Clan master, which greatly improved his strength. If Li Ran and the others claimed to be from the Secret Clan, he would turn and leave without hesitation, as no one like him could withstand a Secret Clan master.

Li Ran said calmly, “We’re not from the Secret Clan at all.”

Bu Ruobugong secretly breathed a sigh of relief, but he dared not be careless at all. He said, “Since that’s the case… please leave! I appreciate your kindness… Bu Ruobugong accepts it. If there’s anything in the future, you can come to me!” He appeared to want to be friends, with not a trace of arrogance on his face.

The people around him looked surprised. After all, Bu Ruobugong was known for his bad temper and volatility. It was unbelievable that he would speak to these seven people in such a manner. They had no idea that Bu Ruobugong didn’t want to be their enemy at all. Just by seeing that the seven of them could hover in the air just like him, he knew their strength was no less than his own.

Guo Shieru couldn’t help but laugh. This guy was smart—trying to build a relationship with them. But they were here to rob, so how could they be moved by Bu Ruobugong’s words? He said with sincerity, without any hint of joking, “If you leave, heh, we might spare your life.” But how could Bu Ruobugong accept such words?

Sure enough, Bu Ruobugong’s expression darkened. He said, “Don’t make things difficult for me. You’re only seven people, while we have a large number of guards here!” Although he wanted to attack right away, he had many concerns and suppressed his anger, trying to avoid this fight.

Li Ran couldn’t help but smile and say, “What my brother said is indeed for your own good.”

Kumu, however, seemed impatient. He stepped forward slightly and said coldly, “Get lost!”

Bu Ruobugong was finally enraged. He quickly retreated backward while shouting, “Attack!” The guards around him immediately fired. The firepower of the ground-based weapons was strong, but it wasn’t a threat to the seven of them.

The seven didn’t resist at all and let the attacks come at them. Any attack that came within a foot of them disappeared instantly—whether it was a physical attack or any other type. Kumu sneered and then teleported away.

Bu Ruobugong kept retreating. His flying speed was fast, but it still couldn’t compare to Kumu’s teleportation. In the blink of an eye, he saw Kumu appear in front of him. Frightened, he swung the metal rod in his hand and smashed it down loudly, shouting, “Attack!”

Kumu said coldly, “Go to hell!” and actually used his arm to block the metal rod.

Bang!

Bu Ruobugong’s eyeballs almost popped out of their sockets. The metal rod in his hand was specially made, possessing exceptional hardness and flexibility. He felt as though he wasn’t hitting the other man’s arm but rather a huge piece of metal, and the rebound force nearly made him drop the rod. From that single strike, his palms were split open, and blood flowed down along the rod. Even worse, the metal rod bent into the shape of a ruler.

Immediately afterward, Ku Mu closed in. Before Bu Ruobugong could react, he delivered two consecutive punches to his chest. With two loud thuds, Bu Ruobugong was flung aside.

That wasn’t all. Ku Mu moved slightly and followed like a shadow, launching continuous attacks. He didn’t use excessive force, fearing he might kill Bu Ruobugong in one strike, instead persisting in punching and kicking him—yes, he simply wanted to beat him.

Bu Ruobugong was stunned by the relentless attacks. It had to be said that this guy was quite strong, able to withstand Ku Mu’s blows without dying. Though he kept spitting blood mid-air, he was still alive.

With his final punch, Ku Mu finally knocked Bu Ruobugong unconscious. He released the purple chains and dragged Bu Ruobugong back like a dog.

When the armed guards attacked, Qi Wu Zhen stepped in. With a wave of her hand, hundreds of sparks were sent out, each hitting one of the guards.

The guards had no idea how dangerous those sparks were. None of them dodged; they kept firing frantically. Soon, they were horrified to see that the armored guards were burning. Their thick metal armor began to melt rapidly, just like cream exposed to an open flame.

In panic, the guards started running around chaotically. There were many onlookers nearby, who were immediately caught in the crossfire. After all, those ground-based combat machines were dozens of meters tall. If they ran around recklessly, even metal buildings would be destroyed, let alone fragile ordinary people.

The remaining unburned armored guards, realizing the situation was dire, rushed outward, trampling countless people along the way. In moments, the crowd in front of the giant building was gone—some had run away, some were dead, and the ground was in chaos.

Ku Mu threw Bu Ruobugong to the ground and said, “This guy has some strength, but he’s still far behind Xing Yunzi and the others.”

Bu Ruobugong hit the ground, and the shock woke him up. He struggled to lift his head and realized he had been captured, filling him with despair.

The attack by the withered tree just now made him fully realize that these people, even if not experts of the Secret Clan, were no less skilled than them and might even be more powerful. He wondered silently: Why are such terrifying experts here?
The moment this thought crossed his mind, he suddenly understood and couldn’t help but wail inwardly, “Good heavens, how could these evil forces appear here?”
He had already received intelligence indicating that this disaster was caused by several super experts who not only destroyed the interstellar fleet but also the largest space defense fortress on Line Star. Their strength was so great that even the army was helpless. He hadn’t anticipated this and had foolishly fought against them—truly foolish of him.
