Chapter 2: Revenge (Part 1)

Ezek was extremely anxious. His body was covered in wounds, and the skilled warriors of the Beast Tamer Clan kept launching relentless attacks. Since they were in a canyon, coupled with a trap formation, he would have had a way to break free if it weren’t for this vast canyon, leaving him helpless and forced to watch as attacks struck his massive body.

It was only then that Ezek realized the opponent wasn’t particularly strong. Yet, thanks to the canyon and the trap formation, they had suppressed him to the extreme. He could only rely on his formidable physique to defend himself. Even so, he refused to let Mei Li risk her life and instead protected her tightly beneath him.

Mei Li hadn’t lost her temper because of Ezek’s words. He said, “Attack when I can no longer hold on. This way… we can take turns… Maybe we can hold out until a turning point appears.”

Although the two of them had transformed into human-like warriors through aberrant talismanic beasts, they both possessed high intelligence. Having inherited the knowledge of professionals, they had suppressed their beast nature to the lowest level. In life-or-death situations, they remained rational, avoiding reckless impulses and staying calm. Their eyes burned with anger, but they strived to control themselves from exploding, sticking to a defensive stance, which prevented the Beast Tamer Clan from succeeding.

After enduring several attacks, Ezek trembled in pain. He glared hatefully at Hall, with layers of talismanic light appearing on his body only to be shattered by the formation. In truth, Hall couldn’t deliver a fatal blow to Ezek. Relying on the formation, he could only break through Ezek’s defenses and cause him to bleed, but he was still far from exhausting Ezek’s strength.

Hall thought that if he persisted long enough, the other party might yield. He had no idea that Ezek was pretending to be weak, so he maintained a low frequency in his attacks. He never imagined that Ezek had inherited professional knowledge from the world of talismans, possessing human-like intelligence and cunning.

Mei Li tried several times to take over, but Ezek firmly refused. He conveyed his words through soul vibrations: “Don’t worry. I can still hold on. If we can break free… that bastard… I’ll tear him apart with my own hands… eat him. From now on, I won’t spare a single one of his kind!”

Mei Li, who had previously been irritable, managed to endure as well. Her soul vibrated slightly, saying, “I know, I know… I don’t know which race this is. I, Mei Li, swear that I’ll fight to the death against this race. I’ll kill every one of them I see…”

Hall could hardly imagine that by annoying two ultimate threats, he would ultimately bring such great disaster upon the Beast Taming Clan. His eyes were fixed solely on the two spirit beasts; if not for keeping his mouth shut, saliva might have spilled out.
“Everyone, control the trapping array!”
As time passed, Hall grew increasingly anxious. After attacking for so long, although the spirit beasts in the canyon were severely wounded, he still felt it wasn’t enough. Moreover, one of the spirit beasts had taken human form and kept avoiding confrontation—making it impossible to even see it, let alone attack it. He feared that if both spirit beasts erupted at the same time, the array might not be able to contain them.
Hall was also worried—what kind of revenge those two top-tier spirit beasts might inflict if they escaped? He had used their carelessness to trap them with the array; in a direct fight, he didn’t have the courage. Even though his own spirit beast was powerful, it was nowhere near comparable to those top-tier ones.
…
Li Ran and Qi Wu Zhen immediately moved over. There was no time to hesitate—only by targeting the strongest opponent could they prevent them from resorting to extreme measures. If the trapping array contained any powerful techniques as well, it would turn into harming rather than saving people.
The other groups also rushed at their respective enemies.
The attack came so suddenly that Hall and the others had no time to react. Most of them retracted their spirit beasts and focused entirely on controlling the trapping array, so as soon as contact was made, the members of the Beast Taming Clan suffered heavy losses.
After all, Hall was an expert. When Li Ran and Qi Wu Zhen suddenly appeared, a sense of imminent danger made him teleport out without hesitation. The other members of the Beast Taming Clan, unaware of the threat, continued attacking Aizek in the canyon. After teleporting out, Hall shouted, “Be careful!”
Li Ran’s strike missed, leaving him slightly surprised. “Huh, not bad!” A massive virtual hand suddenly appeared in the air and slammed down.
Before the hand could land, countless tiny flames flew out from Qi Wu Zhen’s hand, instantly engulfing several members of the Beast Taming Clan. They couldn’t resist at all—it was as if their bodies were covered in gasoline. A single spark caused the flames to surge violently, forming human-shaped torches in midair.
Then the massive hand landed, hitting the remaining members of the Beast Taming Clan with tremendous force, as if rackets were hitting balls—sending them flying straight down. Even Hall couldn’t dodge. The speed of their attacks was too fast; they simply had no time to react.

Ezek suddenly spotted Li Ran and Qi Wu Zhen below and let out a thunderous roar, his anger and joy pouring out through the cry—he had been holding back too long.
Mei Li flew out from beneath Ezek’s abdomen. She immediately saw Li Ran and Qi Wu Zhen in the air, then Guo Shier and Halechi, and exclaimed, “Ah… Ah… They’re our people! They’re our people!” At that moment, she was overjoyed to be part of Li Ran’s team—friends were the best in critical times.
Ezek shook his body and reverted to human form. Mei Li turned her gaze and saw the countless wounds on Ezek’s body. Heartbroken, she said, “Rest later; I’ll go up and fight!” The two watched the battle above eagerly, unable to leave for now and forced to wait trapped in the Beast Trap. Fortunately, no one was controlling the trap at the moment, so the attacks had stopped.
Hall crashed into the Beast Trap, his heart filled with dread. After just two moves from his opponent, he realized this was a top-tier caster. Among those who worshipped the stars and possessed the greatest combat skills, casters ranked among the top three—far surpassing the Beast Tamer race. In horror, he shouted, “Why are you attacking us?” He still didn’t understand why they were attacking him; he thought he hadn’t provoked such enemies.
Li Ran had no time to answer; he rushed at Hall right away.
Hall was terrified—his opponent’s aura was too frightening, leaving him no will to fight. His only thought was to escape. He felt that his opponent was at least several levels above him; not to mention fighting head-on, even resisting a few attacks would be difficult. So he immediately teleported away and released his spirit beast.
Hall’s spirit beast was famous among the Beast Tamer race—a level-9 beast, a black-backed, golden-winged giant eagle with a body length of a hundred meters. But instead of using it to fight, he tried to use it to escape.
Li Ran didn’t chase after him because his target had shifted to another expert from the Beast Tamer race. That guy had also released his spirit beast—a winged dragon-like beast, a level-7 Fire Rock Dragon. Li Ran didn’t know what kind of beast it was, but he could sense its strength, so he immediately turned his attacks toward the Rock Dragon.

Taking this opportunity, Hall managed to escape. Without hesitation, he rode the golden-winged eagle and flew away. It must be said that this guy had extensive combat experience—survival came first. He resolutely abandoned the spiritual beasts trapped in the formation as well as his fellow tribesmen still fighting, and fled desperately into the distance.

The Rock Dragon couldn’t even block Li Ran’s attack. It was thrown around in the air by Li Ran’s sacrificial treasure, severely injured, and fell with a mournful cry, crashing heavily onto the Beast Trapping Formation.

Guo Shier and Halechi also launched attacks at the same time. They faced quite a number of enemies—about fifteen or sixteen. Two of them released their own spiritual beasts, while the rest tried to control the Beast Trapping Formation.

Halechi was overjoyed. After reaching the Star of Sacrifice, his strength had increased dramatically; he was no longer the frustrated Halechi of before. His attack speed was extremely fast. He struck first, using his sacrificial treasure to slay a level-six spiritual beast, attacking its master at the same time and restraining another spiritual beast.

Guo Shier’s Moon Blade was unleashed. Since he couldn’t use a sacrificial altar, he had to strengthen his defense. He continued to use the Umbrella Tower sacrificial treasure for defense while launching attacks with his Moon Blade.

He killed three enemies instantly and severely injured five more. Even Guo Shier himself wasn’t expecting such an easy victory—he hadn’t thought the opponents would be so weak. Without entering the Star of Sacrifice, he wouldn’t have become so powerful. Since arriving here, his strength had improved rapidly, and the power of his Moon Blade had become even more lethal. He hadn’t even used his full strength yet, yet he had killed three enemies instantly.

Under this sudden attack, the other experts from the Beast Master clans were panicked. Their strength relied heavily on their spiritual beasts, and they had already suffered heavy losses before even releasing theirs. After Guo Shier killed three people instantly, the others fled frantically and released their own spiritual beasts. Most of them were frustrated because their beasts couldn’t fly.

Zhen Wuji also launched a surprise attack. Fighting alone against a group of Beast Master clansmen, he used his full strength from the start. This attack was crucial—if he could severely injure a few of them, the subsequent battle would be much easier.

He faced nearly twenty Beast Master clansmen. His surprise attack was successful—he killed two instantly and severely injured three. The two who were killed had their bodies cut in half. The other Beast Master clansmen seized this opportunity to quickly release their own spiritual beasts. They didn’t flee because only one person was attacking. With eyes blazing, they immediately engaged Zhen Wuji in a fierce battle.

Beauty suddenly transformed into a giant beast and charged wildly at the Trap Beast Formation. Since the beast controllers maintaining the formation were under attack at that moment, they had no time to control the large formation, presenting a perfect opportunity to break it. In fact, if Aizek had tried hard to break the formation from the start, he wouldn’t have been dealt such a harsh blow by this kind of formation—the Trap Beast Formation was far inferior to true spell formations.
