Chapter 4: Thunder Dragon (Part 1)
As everyone was talking, they didn’t notice any noises outside. Guo Shieru listened intently, his expression changing slightly as he heard faint roars. He said, “Mutated talisman beasts? Or human roars? I can’t tell.”
None of the four dared move. They didn’t understand the situation in the Minor Thunder Realm nor knew what dangers might lie here. Fortunately, they had good luck when they entered, meeting Yan Ruodai from the Gu Dai family, who led them to the Thunder Platform and gave them a place to stay.
Luo Zhan asked, “Should we go take a look?”
Guo Shieru shook his head and said, “Our strength is too weak. We can’t just wander around in the Minor Thunder Realm.”
At that moment, Yan Ruodai slowly appeared and said, “You kids, come with me to see the excitement.” Immediately, Guo Shieru and the others felt their bodies tighten as Yan Ruodai’s voice rang in their ears, “Don’t move. I’ll take you there.”
In an instant, everything went dark before lighting up again—this was the sensation of teleportation. Guo Shieru remained calm and waited. When his body appeared in midair, he saw a completely different place.
It was an endless expanse of water, with torrential rain pouring from the sky. The raindrops hit the surface, creating a loud splashing sound, and the water was turbulent, filled with countless currents and whirlpools. Guo Shieru saw a moving back—too blurry to identify as a specific mutated talisman beast. Judging from its long, slender shape, it resembled crocodiles from his past life, with thick scales and rows of bone spines stretching dozens of meters long.
An old man hovered in the air. Upon seeing Yan Ruodai appear, he flew into a rage and shouted, “Yan Ruodai! You’ve come to steal my prey again!”
Yan Ruodai giggled and said, “The Thunder Beast of the Minor Thunder Realm? Has it become your pet? Bao Chengyong, you’re already anxious before I even act. Can’t you show some grace?”
Bao Chengyong looked very thin. The most striking feature on his face was his long, thin mustaches, along with his shifty eyes and sleazy appearance. His inverted eyebrows gave him a sorrowful look. But when he sat down on his altar, Guo Shieru was shocked—this old man also had a three-layer solid altar.
“This Thunder Beast belongs to me!”
Yan Ruodai sneered and said, “Oh? It’s yours? Then let it get close to you!”
Bao Chengyong was furious, shouting repeatedly, “Mine! Mine! It’s definitely mine!”
Guo Shieru watched in stupor. Was this the master expert with a three-layer solid altar? Why was he acting like a child? It was obvious that Yan Ruodai was teasing him.
Yan Ruodai also remained silent. She led Guo Shier and the others back, then summoned her own altar and stepped onto it with the four of them. She sat cross-legged and said, “Kids, come sit behind me.”
Guo Shier realized that the altar was actually quite large. The four of them sat down obediently. Yan Ruodai gently tapped the altar with her hand, and an invisible force pinned them firmly in place.
Bao Chengyong’s face turned ashen with anger. He knew that if he tried to kill the mutated thunder dragon, Yan Ruodai would attack him from behind, and if he didn’t act, the hard-earned mutated thunder dragon would escape. He roared, “What exactly do you want?”
Yan Ruodai smiled and said, “I want the bones, flesh, blood, and essence of this thunder dragon. I can give you its beast soul.”
Only then did Guo Shier realize it was a mutated thunder dragon. He immediately searched through his inherited memories and quickly found records about dragon-type mutated beast beasts. To his surprise, mutated thunder dragons of the thunder element ranked very high and were extremely powerful mutated beast beasts.
“Elder, how many levels is this mutated thunder dragon?”
Yan Ruodai stared at Bao Chengyong and said calmly, “Fifteen levels. But unlike ordinary mutated beast beasts, it’s not only of the thunder element but also of the dragon element. It’s very rare. Even in the Minor Thunder Realm, it’s among the scarce types and hard to come by.”
Bao Chengyong indeed needed the essence of a thunder dragon. Gritting his teeth, he said, “Besides its essence, I also want that thunder pearl in its head!”
Yan Ruodai replied, “Fine! Everything else goes to me! Go kill it. I’ll wait.”
Bao Chengyong shouted, “This drives me mad!”
Zhou Xiaoling whispered, “He’s so pitiful…”
Yan Ruodai said indifferently, “He’s not pitiful at all. Last time, he stole someone else’s prey and even beat that person up. Do you think he’s pitiful?”
Zhou Xiaoling immediately fell silent.
Yan Ruodai said, “Stop talking. Watch him hunt the thunder beast.”
The four of them immediately focused their attention on Bao Chengyong. It was a privilege to be able to watch a master hunt from the height of the three-layer solid altar. Without Yan Ruodai’s altar protecting them, they might not even have had a chance to take a glance. In a fight of this level, even a slight involvement would be unbearable for them.
The thunder dragon beast still hadn’t realized disaster was approaching and continued to swim slowly in the water.
Guo Shier thought to himself, “A Level 15 mutated Thunder Dragon—I wonder how powerful it is… Level 15!” He didn’t know what to say. Back then, even a severely injured Earth Dragon, only at Level 7, had made them all feel as if facing a formidable enemy. Thinking back to what Li Ran had said, he had to admit that Li Ran wasn’t pretending to be weak; at their level, there was no need to show off at all. If Li Ran had said that a Level 7 Earth Dragon could be killed with just one slap, he would have thought Li Ran was crazy and wouldn’t have continued talking to him.
Bao Chengyong sat on the third-tier altar. He had only one sacrificial treasure—a black sword made up of countless small knives, planted vertically at the top of the altar. Bao Chengyong sat beside the black sword.
Guo Shier couldn’t help but ask, “Is there only one sacrificial treasure?”
Yan Ruodai said in surprise, “You know about sacrificial treasures? Impressive! Only those who have reached the Virtual Spirit Mirror level can know about them.” She continued, “Bao Chengyong has more than one sacrificial treasure, but the one he uses most often is that black sword on the altar—it’s a very powerful third-grade sacrificial treasure.”
Bao Chengyong gently tapped the black sword with his finger. The black sword slowly rose into the air. With a sharp command, “Activate!” it suddenly expanded into a huge black sword, over a hundred meters long. Its faint sword howl sounded like thunder, causing the rain to seem to pause for a moment. A massive pressure spread around the sword, sending raindrops flying in all directions. The flying raindrops made a faint whistling sound.
The mutated Thunder Dragon, still swimming in the water, finally sensed something was wrong. It abruptly raised its head out of the water, revealing its huge head. Its pair of green eyes stared intently at the giant black sword in the sky.
Guo Shier gasped and said, “What a terrifying Thunder Dragon! What a beautiful Thunder Dragon!”
Its originally dark body suddenly flashed with lightning, turning bright blue. Blue light shone on its large scales, while the gaps between them remained black, making the blue even more dazzling. The black spines on its back turned silver-white, with blue arcs flickering and flowing between them.
The Thunder Dragon’s head resembled that of a crocodile, except its mouth wasn’t as long, and it had two thick tentacles, each over ten meters long. Since it was submerged in water, it was impossible to see if it had legs. As soon as it raised its head, it roared at Bao Chengyong, sending a shockwave that made the altar tremble violently.
Bao Chengyong slowly cast a spell and shouted, “Slice!” The massive black sword came to life with a roar, spinning in the air before suddenly slashing at the mutated thunder dragon. An indescribable sense of danger made Guo Shier’s hair stand on end, his soul trembling violently, forcing him to silently recite scriptures. A weak but strangely fluctuating spiritual force spread out. Yan Ruodai let out a soft “Huh,” turning to glance at Guo Shier in surprise—this kid’s soul seemed different from others. The black sword descended from the sky, its overwhelming force pressing the water surface below down by three or four meters, creating a long, sunken area with white foam spraying up seven or eight meters high. The sound it made was like thunder, booming loudly. The thunder dragon roared, opened its mouth wide, and spat out a silver light ball. Yan Ruodai laughed, “So powerful! A thunder ball! It’s actually a thunder ball, hehe.” Then the dragon spat out two more thunder balls, each at least five or six meters in diameter, glowing with lightning. Arcs of electricity spread out as they shot straight toward the black sword. The dragon spat out three thunder balls, swished its huge tail, and abruptly turned its body—so agile it hardly seemed like a massive creature, giving an eerie impression. Boom! Boom! Boom! The speed of the falling black sword slowed slightly, just enough for the thunder dragon to turn and avoid the slash, with perfect timing. Yan Ruodai couldn’t help but cheer in delight at the dragon’s cleverness. The sword struck the water surface, causing waves to soar hundreds of meters high, as if the entire water was about to leap. Guo Shier couldn’t help but sigh bitterly—if that sword had hit a mutated talisman beast at level twelve or thirteen, it would have been instantly killed, with no chance of escape. Before Bao Chengyong could lift the black sword again, the mutated thunder dragon launched a counterattack. Whoosh! The dragon’s thick tail swung directly at the altar in the air, its sapphire-colored tail crackling with countless arcs of electricity. Bao Chengyong couldn’t help but exclaim, “What a cunning beast!” He lightly tapped the altar, and both he and the altar vanished instantly. The tail swung uselessly through the air, tracing an arc before crashing down onto the water surface, causing it to boil like boiling water, with countless bubbles rising.
The black sword returned to the air at some point, growing even larger—over 150 meters long and looking extremely terrifying. By now, Guo Shier could clearly see that the sword was composed of countless small knives, covered in runes; each knife had at least a hundred runes, meaning the entire sword was made up of around 100,000 small knives.
Yan Ruodai suddenly cried out, “Bao Chengyong, don’t use the Fragmented Knife Technique!”
Bao Chengyong flew into a rage and said, “Who are you to tell me what spell technique to use?”
Yan Ruodai smiled coquettishly, “I want the skin of the Thunder Beast! If you use your Fragmented Knife Technique, I certainly don’t want a tattered piece of Thunder Beast armor!”
