Chapter 8: The Lifespan Moon Blade (Part 2)
The Eagle Demon had exceptional eyesight. Pointing at the distance, he asked, “What’s that?”
Kumu said, “Let’s go take a look. I think it’s a tree…”
Guo Shier followed and flew over, saying, “I can’t see clearly… It looks a bit like a tree, but it’s too big!”
After flying for less than two minutes, the Eagle Demon said, “It’s not a tree…”
It was a tree-shaped stone monument, over a thousand meters tall, with its top resembling a cloud. The monument was cylindrical, colored emerald green—no wonder everyone mistook it for a tree.
Guo Shier exclaimed in delight, “A Soul Altar!”
Beneath the giant monument stood a Soul Altar.
Everyone’s faces showed extreme joy at discovering a Soul Altar here. Though it was still unclear what kind of Soul Altar it was, they were all overjoyed.
The five of them immediately sped up and soon arrived in front of the giant monument. Kumu shouted, “Stop! There’s a talisman array for protection!” Everyone panicked and stopped mid-air.
A layer of greenish talisman light appeared, and the five of them almost crashed into it.
Guo Shier said, still shaken, “My master’s vision is truly sharp. I didn’t even notice the protection!”
Luo Zhan asked curiously, “What kind of stone is this? It’s completely green! Hey, there are ancient runes on it!”
Enormous ancient runes kept flashing, immediately drawing everyone’s attention. Only Luo Zhan was less familiar with them; the others knew them well, with Guo Shier and the Eagle Demon understanding the most. Kumu and Monier knew slightly less, as both Guo Shier and the Eagle Demon had received authentic inheritance from ancient rune masters.
Luo Zhan asked, “Are these defensive ancient runes?”
Guo Shier shook his head. “No, they record an event. Let me take a look…” He focused intently. Aside from Luo Zhan scratching his head in confusion, the others also watched carefully.
After a while, Guo Shier let out a long sigh and said, “I see now!”
Luo Zhan asked, “What is it? What is it? Come on, tell us quickly… It’s so annoying!”
Guo Shier said, “It records that an ancient rune master once came to this secret realm. Unbeknownst to him, there were countless powerful mutated talisman beasts and aberrant talisman beasts here. While hunting one of the mutated talisman beasts, he was attacked by three extremely fierce aberrant talisman beasts…”
Luo Zhan asked, “What happened after that?”
Guo Shier said, “Later, he was severely injured and died here from his wounds.” He then added, “This Ancient Seal Man seems to be a very important figure, possessing a two-layer Soul Altar…” Pointing at the Soul Altar below, he said, “This is his Soul Altar, which has taken physical form and appeared on the ground.”
Eagle Demon said with a bitter smile, “A two-layer Soul Altar… That’s top-tier power!”
Luo Zhan asked, “What happened next?”
Guo Shier replied, “Then his father arrived… You saw those three giant skeletons.”
Ku Mu said, “These are the tombstones left by his father. We don’t know what kind of being he was—he managed to kill all the creatures in this secret realm and seal it off… What kind of power does that require? It’s terrifying.”
Guo Shier said, “The era in which the Ancient Seal Man lived was a hundred times more cruel than ours!”
Monier said, “We don’t know what rank his father was or how strong he was. Even the Abnormal Seal Beasts were almost instantly killed. You can imagine how angry he must have been!”
Ku Mu said, “The Ancient Seal Man… Actually, I know he probably still exists, just not in the area where we live. We are just minor Sealcraft practitioners.”
Guo Shier asked, “What do you mean?”
Ku Mu replied, “It’s just a legend. But after seeing the Tan Ya Secret Realm today, I think… it’s not a legend but something that truly exists!”
Guo Shier asked, “Then what is this place?”
Ku Mu said, “Our place might just be the fringe of the Sealcraft World. Whether it’s continents or secret realms, they’re all in the periphery. Think about it—have any of you heard of such terrifying Abnormal Seal Beasts? I can’t even estimate their rank. Here… if just one such Abnormal Seal Beast appeared, it could sweep through the higher-level continents! As for the lower-level continents, they’d have no chance of resisting.”
Guo Shier said with a bitter smile, “The Sealcraft World… What we’ve seen is just the tip of the iceberg.”
Luo Zhan stared at the Soul Altar and said, “I wonder if we have any chance of inheriting this Soul Altar! And… I don’t know how to enter this defensive seal array.” His voice trembled slightly.
Guo Shier said, “Entering the defensive seal array is simple. There are records on the stone tablet. The Ancient Seal Gate seal that our master obtained is the key to breaking through it.”
Ku Mu said, “If we get in and are lucky enough to inherit something, we can enter the world of the Ancient Seal Man.”
Luo Zhan asked, “Enter the world of the Ancient Seal Man? Where are they?”
Kumu shook his head and said, “I don’t know. But… I know that without strong strength, one won’t survive long once inside.”
Guo Shier said, “It’s better not to consider entering the world of the Ancient Seal People for now. Only after seeing the skeletons of those three mutated seal beasts did I realize how far behind we are in strength. Let’s first figure out… how to obtain the inheritance of this Soul Altar.”
Kumu released his life-seal book, pointed with his hand, and summoned a seal from the Ancient Seal Gate. The seal flew swiftly into the defensive seal array, and moments later, a small seal gate appeared. Kumu shouted, “Hurry in!” He flew in first, followed closely by the others.
The defensive seal array covered a vast area. Through the seal gate, Kumu and the others arrived directly beneath the stone tablet.
Kumu retracted the seal from the Ancient Seal Gate and said, “This seal is truly amazing.”
Guo Shier said, “Let’s pay tribute to this ancient seal master.”
Kumu replied, “Mm, that’s right. We should pay our respects according to ancient customs.”
The five of them stood in a line, bowed, and simultaneously cast a series of virtual seals onto the stone tablet, leaving their names and expressions of respect. Luo Zhan expressed his sorrow and respect through soul vibrations, as he was still unable to use virtual seals.
In an instant, five green lights enveloped them. Kumu whispered, “Don’t move—there’s a benefit to it!”
A deep voice resonated in their souls, “Since you’ve paid tribute to my son, if you can obtain his inheritance, you will become named disciples of the Ancient Miluo family. Do you agree?”
The five of them showed shocked expressions. Without hesitation, they immediately cast a virtual seal. Luo Zhan could only smile bitterly—he could still only respond through soul vibrations.
The voice in their souls resonated again, “Very good. Now it depends on which of you my son will accept. Go to the altar yourselves.” The green lights vanished suddenly, and the group was overjoyed to find their souls had strengthened by at least ten percent. Soul growth was extremely difficult, but once it occurred, rapid advancement was possible.
The five of them bowed respectfully once more. They truly admired such a master. As for the Ancient Miluo family, they had no idea what kind of existence it was.
This journey to the secret realm opened a window for them, showing them a completely different—and equally breathtaking—landscape.
Guo Shier said, “Let’s go and take a look at the altar.”
The altar was 80 meters tall, had two floors, and had a peculiar shape, resembling two fish stacked on top of each other—a spindle-shaped altar.
There were seven pillars on the altar, about ten meters tall, thinner at the base and thicker at the top, giving off a strange impression. Guo Shier knew that if this altar were in a soul’s realm, there would surely be something on the pillars, but now it was empty, with nothing at all.
There were stairs at both ends of the spindle-shaped structure, with over a hundred semi-transparent steps. The altar was intact, without any damage, and had been reinforced with ancient runes.
Kumu sensed it slightly and said, “The martial runes are on the other end, and the spells are on this end. I’ll give it a try first.” He stepped onto the stairs. This method of inheritance worked for any soul altar. As soon as he took a step and landed on the first step, countless virtual runes surged forth, forcing him to retreat.
The soul altar clearly didn’t want Kumu to inherit anything and immediately pushed him back. After all, Kumu was already a junior Grand Sage, yet he couldn’t withstand the power of the virtual runes emitted by the altar and couldn’t take even one step forward.
Kumu shook his head with a bitter smile and said, “The method is wrong… Never mind, you guys give it a try.”
Monier said, “I’ll do it!” She stepped onto the stairs and reached the top of the altar in no time before being pushed back by a force. She was so angry she almost cursed, but knowing the place was rather evil, she didn’t dare speak out, as she gained nothing.
Luo Zhan looked somewhat desperate and said, “It’s even less possible for me…”
Kumu said, “How can you know unless you try? You need to go from the other end and give it a try.”
Luo Zhan flew to the other end, mustered his courage, and stepped forward. Immediately, countless virtual runes appeared and struck him. Kumu was stunned and said, “Huh, he actually made it!”
Guo Shier quickly realized that Luo Zhan had been to the altar’s secret realm before. His foundation was the same as Guo Shier and the others, which is why the altar recognized him.
Eagle Demon stepped onto it without hesitation and was indeed recognized by the altar.
Kumu smiled bitterly. Monier muttered, “What a stingy thing… Baby, you try.”
Guo Shier already knew in his heart that he would definitely be able to inherit it. He smiled and said, “Master, Masteress, I’m going.” He returned to the other end and stepped forward.
Kumu and Monier exchanged a speechless glance. Guo Shier was also recognized by the altar. Kumu couldn’t help but say, “Strange. We’re all professionals. Why can’t we inherit it?”
Monier was a bit annoyed, but she was glad to see Guo Shier recognized by the altar. She said, “At least we didn’t come for nothing.”
As Guo Shier stepped onto the steps, he knew he had succeeded. He felt a blur before his eyes, and everything around him disappeared, leaving only a vast path with runes floating everywhere on the ground and in the air. He was quite experienced in this and knew he had to move forward steadily, without retreating or giving up.
A large number of virtual runes flowed into his body and merged with his soul, with countless memories and runes spreading within it. He stepped forward one by one, and as he moved, more and more virtual runes floated up and merged with his soul, combining with the inheritance he had acquired earlier.
After about half a day of walking, the moon blade circling his life essence rune ball suddenly flew out.
Guo Shier was slightly startled. He saw the moon blade floating in front of him, emitting a faint tremor. Curiously, he watched, unsure of what the altar was intended for.
