Chapter 8: The Lifesoul Moon Blade (Part 1)

Guo Shieru fell downward and saw Ku Mu and the others standing there, staring at a strange bone. Seeing Guo Shieru land, Eagle Demon hurriedly said, “Shieru, come to me.”
Monier immediately noticed the Moon Blade floating around Guo Shieru and couldn’t help but exclaim, “Wow, it’s so beautiful!”
The Moon Blade was indeed stunning—slender and curved, with flickering red light and constant vibrations. A faint red glow radiated outward, and countless tiny golden runes flowed across its surface, their light shifting unpredictably, as if a mischievous spirit was joyfully dancing around Guo Shieru.
Ku Mu glanced over and nodded, “Not bad. It can be nurtured within the Lifesoul Talisman Sphere, and its power will increase further.”
Guo Shieru pointed at the Moon Blade. With a flash of red light and a few golden threads, it trembled slightly before rapidly shrinking until it was only as long as a finger, exquisitely delicate. Guo Shieru smiled, took a breath, and sucked the Moon Blade into his mouth. It instantly entered his soul, spinning rapidly around the Lifesoul Talisman Sphere. At the same time, his soul energy merged with the Moon Blade.
“Alright, it’s finally successful,” Guo Shieru said with a laugh. He then asked, “Master, what have you found?” As he spoke, he noticed a strange bone in the chest area—black in color, about as thick as a thigh, with spiral patterns like a screw. If stretched out, its length was unknown.
Ku Mu nodded, “It’s this bone. I can’t identify it. Let you take a look to see if the heritage records anything similar.”
Guo Shieru examined it carefully. Rising into the air, he reached out to touch the strange bone. A cold aura quickly invaded his body, scaring him into letting go immediately. “Damn, what is this?” he exclaimed.
Ku Mu replied, “I don’t know.”
Guo Shieru fell into deep thought. He quickly searched through his heritage memories and gradually found a clue. The heritage he received was roughly similar to what Eagle Demon had, but the materials and methods involved were beyond Eagle Demon’s knowledge, as spells and talisman martial arts belonged to different professions.
“I found it!”
Guo Shieru finally located the relevant records. “This is a Yin Bone! It can be used to craft cold-type talismans. It’s a very rare thing…”
Ku Mu promptly said, “Split it up! Each of us takes one part. By the way, is there any way to purify the Yin Bone?”
Guo Shieru replied, “It can’t be purified with spellfire. Special spells are needed, or perhaps the Thirty-Two Spell Purification Method. That shouldn’t be difficult.”

Kumu nodded and said, “Hmm, the purification method is quite simple.”
There are many ways to purify using spells, and the most common and longest-used method is to employ purification spells. There are the four-spell purification method, the eight-spell purification method, the sixteen-spell purification method, with the highest reaching the one hundred and eight-spell purification method. Guo Shier can currently use the seventy-two-spell purification method, and the thirty-two-spell purification method is even easier for him.
Guo Shier also had a purification spell given to him by Li Ran, along with a high-grade Ancient True Spell.
As long as Kumu knew which method to use for purification, there was no problem. He immediately began working on refining this bone fragment.
Eagle Demon handed Guo Shier a spell storage bag and said, “This is for you—seven hundred purification Blood Soul Stones, all of top quality.”
Guo Shier couldn’t help but smile; more of these was always better. He asked, “Did you guys get any too?”
Eagle Demon nodded and said, “We’ll need them when the time comes… who knows when that will be.”
Guo Shier said confidently, “It will be soon.”
Watching Guo Shier’s confident demeanor, Eagle Demon felt a strange sensation—as if his dream of advancing to the point where he could build his own soul altar might truly come true in the near future. He slapped his own head and smiled bitterly inwardly, “What delusions. Reaching the level of a Saint Master is already beyond expectations; a soul altar… that’s still too far off.”
Kumu was very skilled at using the thirty-two-spell purification method and refined the entire bone fragment in just half a day, producing 371 spell cores. Of course, these could also be considered materials—useful even if not used to create spells.
Guo Shier received 100 of them, while Eagle Demon and Luo Zhan didn’t take any. It would be useless anyway, as they couldn’t craft spells.
Kumu looked up at the skeleton and sighed, “Forget it. Let’s leave it here for now. We can come back for it later. There’s another skeleton over there—let’s go take a look.”
…
The five of them arrived above the last skeleton. Guo Shier said, “This one’s even worse! The entire head and upper body have been shattered… only the lower half remains. I wonder what could have caused such destruction!”
The ground was covered in broken bones—enormous bones, whose general shapes could still be seen from above. The lower half of the skeleton was still standing, just as massive as the rest.
Kumu shook his head and said, “I really admire the Ancient Spell users.” His tone was filled with envy. This guy had always been arrogant, looking down on all other professionals. The fact that he could utter words of admiration showed just how powerful these Ancient Spell users must be, capable of defeating those mutated spell beasts.

Two skeletons were collected in succession, and everyone knew what to do next: first find the Blood Soul Stones, then seek the bones they wanted. The giant bones couldn’t be taken for now, so they had to settle for broken bones and special ones. Since the mutated talisman beast had its head and upper body shattered, it made it easier for them to gather many materials.

They also found Blood Soul Stones here, though this time their quality wasn’t very good. There were, however, many usable bones, especially the fragments of skulls, which were of extremely high quality.

It took another ten-odd days before they finished collecting everything. The lower half of the skeleton still couldn’t be processed and had to be left behind.

During this time, Guo Shier made a talisman spear and a talisman sword for Luo Zhan, and a giant axe for Eagle Demon, using teeth from the shattered skulls. During the crafting process, Kuumu also added some virtual talismans. For those in the talisman martial arts profession, having high-quality talisman weapons could greatly enhance their strength.

The treasures obtained from the Tan Ya Secret Realm left the five of them very satisfied. In just a few dozen days, they had gathered a large amount of high-grade materials, especially Blood Soul Stones, which are extremely hard to find. It was unexpected to discover so many here.

After recording the locations of the skeletons, they set off again.

Most of the trees in this forest had withered. As they went deeper, the dead trees gradually disappeared, revealing a cracked, dry ground. From such a high altitude, they could see a wide range of terrain. Soon, they hovered in the air, with thick lead-gray clouds not far above them. Cracks crisscrossed the ground, clearly signs of unnatural forces.

Guo Shier said, “This place… seems to have witnessed a terrible battle. It’s a palm print! Damn, it’s so big!”

A vague, giant palm print was visible on the ground. Kuumu calculated roughly and said, “A square kilometer in size! I wonder what talisman beast it crushed. Look… there are so many broken bones…”

Guo Shier was astonished and said, “The Ancient Talisman People are far stronger than us!”

Kuumu replied, “Not just stronger—completely incomparable! We’re so far behind… I really can’t figure out how much powerful heritage we’ve lost!”

Guo Shier said, “The Ancient Talisman heritage I and Uncle Eagle Demon obtained seems to be just some basic stuff. We haven’t gotten any unique skills or talismans. If we could find a high-level soul altar… that would be great, hehe.”

Monier laughed and said, “Little money-grubber, finding a high-level soul altar? That’s not that easy.”

Guo Shier smiled and said, “Explore more secret realms. If you’re lucky, you might run into them. I’ve always had good luck.”
Eagle Demon and Luo Zhan both showed expressions of shock. The traces left on the ground were astonishing, indicating just how powerful the ancient rune warriors must have been in that battle.
Kumu said, “Keep moving forward. I’m growing more and more eager… I wonder what else awaits us ahead.”
A huge ravine appeared ahead, as if carved by a single slash. It was nearly two kilometers long, about seven or eight meters wide, and stretched straight out, standing out sharply on the ground. Everyone could tell at a glance that it wasn’t naturally formed.
If walking on the ground, it would be hard to detect that these were traces of a battle, but from the air, it was clear they must have been left by combat.
The five of them didn’t fly very fast. From time to time, they slowed down to examine the traces on the ground.
The surroundings became even more desolate. There were hardly any plants, and occasionally, a few dead trees could be seen standing alone on the land. There were no signs of animals either, only a few black birds flying across the sky with eerie cries.
Guo Shier said, “Those birds make such a creepy noise. It’s really unpleasant.”
Monier replied, “Those are Wasteland Crows.”
Guo Shier asked, “Wasteland Crows?”
Monier said, “Wasteland Crows… represent disaster and desolation. They have extremely strong survival instincts.”
Guo Shier said, “It seems all the creatures here have perished, leaving only Wasteland Crows.” In truth, he knew there were still some creatures in the forest, but in very small numbers. This place had almost become a dead zone. Because it was completely isolated and unable to communicate with other secret realm continents, the secret realm would gradually wither away.
A vast desert appeared ahead. There was little wind here, and all the sand dunes were barely visible, rising and falling gently. Occasionally, white bones could be seen protruding from the sand—unknown what else was buried beneath.
A wide riverbed appeared, devoid of a single drop of water. It was covered with various bones, looking utterly white at a glance.
Guo Shier felt as if he had arrived in the legendary Land of Ghosts, filled with countless white bones. He said, “I wonder what calamity happened here to create such a terrifying scene.”
Kumu said, “Let’s go! Keep an eye on our surroundings!”
The five of them flew swiftly forward across the sky.
After flying all day and seeing countless bones, they never encountered another giant skeleton like the one they saw at first. The largest ones were only about a hundred meters long. Guo Shier and the others were no longer excited, nor did they descend to examine them closely.

The desert was left behind; the ground was covered with undulating hills, also devoid of any plants or animals, with only dead tree trunks and countless bones.
