Chapter 7: Saving People (Part 1)

Guo Shier still wasn’t fully awake. He said, “What big golden armor… uh, is it big… or small…” Before he could finish, another sharp cry was heard, accompanied by a roar. His expression changed, and he said, “It seems very close! Let’s go check it out!”
Eagle Demon turned and went downstairs, with Guo Shier following. As soon as they stepped outside, they heard another cry filled with extreme anger. Guo Shier couldn’t see any sign of the big golden armor; the sound came from the Fire Mountain area. Not daring to stay, he said, “Let’s go!” He immediately dismissed the field magic talismans and the concealment array tablets.
Before the three of them could take off, they saw a beam of magic light flying toward the Gobi Desert, followed closely by a golden glow. Guo Shier felt a chill run down his spine. With his keen eyes, he could clearly see that ahead was a great sage, while right behind him was that severely damaged big golden armor.
There were originally twelve great sages, but for some reason, only one appeared now.
The big golden armor still looked in terrible condition, but its formidable vitality allowed it to still pursue a high-level great sage. Guo Shier knew well that if the three of them faced this level-13 mutated big golden armor—even if it was severely injured—they wouldn’t stand a chance and would all be wiped out.
So, after just a glance, he without hesitation said, “Run!”
The three of them sped along the ground, not daring to fly high like that great sage. They flew in a different direction, trying to increase the distance between themselves and the great sage.
Guo Shier was a bit panicked. If they had stayed calm and hidden on the ground, neither the great sage nor the big golden armor might have noticed them. But Guo Shier didn’t dare rely on luck. He knew well how powerful the big golden armor was. Choosing to flee at this moment wasn’t a mistake—it just depended on their luck.
But luck seemed to be on the other side this time. That great sage actually turned and flew toward them.
Guo Shier turned to look and cursed, “Damn it! Speed up! Uncle Eagle Demon, take Uncle Luo and fly!” Luo Zhan’s flying speed couldn’t match theirs, so he had to be carried to fly fast. Luo Zhan sighed inwardly—he had truly become a burden.
Eagle Demon grabbed Luo Zhan’s arm and said, “Lao Luo, keep the flying talisman active. That way, I can save some energy.”

The three of them increased their speed once again, gradually widening the gap from the Great Sage. Fortunately, they had spent a day resting, giving them ample energy and strength to fly at high speeds.
Guo Shier knew that as long as they could outpace that Great Sage, they could save their lives. Eagle Demon glanced back casually and said, “That man… is already badly injured!”
Luo Zhan shouted, “He has evil intentions!”
Guo Shier understood that the Great Sage might not necessarily have evil intentions; perhaps he was acting out of instinct, trying to grasp at any hope, just like a drowning person reaching for a straw. If Guo Shier and Eagle Demon were the Great Sage, they might have the courage to turn around and fight against the Golden Armor, but since they were both junior sages with an even weaker master by their side, fighting back would be suicide—something they would never do.
As he flew, Guo Shier cast a spell on Eagle Demon, instantly increasing his speed further. He then cast another spell on himself. Unfortunately, the acceleration spell he knew wasn’t very effective. He now regretted it—if a virtual talisman were combined with a real one, its power could be increased by at least 10%.
Using virtual talismans to boost speed, the three of them finally stabilized their flight speed and managed to keep up with the Great Sage. They flew frantically, not even daring to look back. All three knew that if caught, death was certain—there was no escape possible.
Guo Shier shouted, “Uncle Eagle Demon, activate teleportation!” Teleportation had a limit on uses, and professionals wouldn’t use it casually unless absolutely necessary. Only advanced Great Sages could use it repeatedly.
Guo Shier and Eagle Demon used teleportation three times in a row, then continued to fly at full speed, further widening the gap. The Great Sage seemed severely injured and could no longer teleport repeatedly; otherwise, he could have easily outrun them.
The Mutated Golden Armor was also nearing exhaustion, but it was a vengeful creature—despite being on the verge of death, it refused to let go of its enemy. The Great Sage was already half-dead; he had been severely injured when controlling the talisman pillar and falling into magma. If he hadn’t been injured, he might have been able to fight the nearly dead Golden Armor, but now it was impossible—the Golden Armor’s attack power remained formidable.

The Great Sage constantly cast virtual talismans backward in an attempt to slow down the Great Golden Armor’s speed, but since his soul was already injured, the talismans he cast had less than half of their usual power, resulting in poor effects. The Great Golden Armor could easily dodge them with just a slight movement, and it was during these brief moments of evasion that the Great Sage managed to gain a chance to escape.

The Great Golden Armor let out another shrill cry and fired a red beam. Exhausted, the Great Sage couldn’t move far; he used all his strength to shift just over ten meters to the side. A red beam passed by him, and the scorching airflow inflicted further damage, causing him to spit out blood. He gathered his remaining strength and flew forward.

The red beam shot straight toward Guo Shier and the others. Luo Zhan had been flying with the Eagle Demon’s help, so his gaze was always fixed behind him. He shouted, “Shier! Be careful of the attack!”

Hearing this, Guo Shier moved aside without even turning around. Experienced professionals knew that when danger approached, the first thing to do was to dodge; waiting to see it before dodging would likely make it impossible to avoid.

The red beam crashed down with all its remaining force, and a flame rose from the ground, carving a fire trench hundreds of meters long before shooting up into the air over ten meters high. Guo Shier was terrified—just one strike could be so terrifying, and this was even after the Great Golden Armor had been severely injured.

The Great Sage’s speed grew slower and slower; he could no longer hold on. He roared, “Save me!”

Guo Shier didn’t dare stay. With just the three of them, how could they possibly save him?

The Great Sage shouted again, “Help me send a message!”

Guo Shier said, “Uncle Eagle Demon, ask him… where we should send the message?”

The Eagle Demon roared, “Where do you want to send the message? Sorry, we’re too weak to help much!”

The Great Sage cast a spell and sent a message talisman, which instantly reached the Eagle Demon and was grabbed by Luo Zhan. The Eagle Demon shouted, “Great! We’ll help you send the message!”

Realizing that Guo Shier and the others couldn’t save him, the man resorted to this method to convey his message. He roared, “I’ll hold them off… you… run!” Then he turned and charged at the Great Golden Armor.

Hearing this, Guo Shier’s heart skipped a beat. He hesitated. In his past life, he wasn’t the kind to ignore others in danger, but in this world, many of his beliefs were different. He turned and asked, “Uncle Eagle Demon, should we save him?”

The Eagle Demon replied bluntly, “There’s no way to save him!”

Guo Shier was deeply conflicted. If that man had evil intentions, he wouldn’t have cared about his life, but the man’s last words moved him.
The man’s roar echoed: “Little crawler, I’ll fight you to the death!”
Boom!
Whether it was the Great Golden Armor or the Great Sage, both were on the verge of death, clinging to life just to kill the other, refusing to back down even at the cost of their own lives.
Guo Shier suddenly cursed, “Damn it! Let’s go back! I can’t take this anymore!”
Eagle Demon smiled bitterly. “Shier, decide. I’ll follow! Lao Luo, don’t stop—keep flying!”
Luo Zhan laughed. “I’m a follower, not a burden! Heh, how could I leave?”
Guo Shier turned and flew away, shouting, “Hold off the Great Golden Armor!”
The Great Sage hadn’t expected Guo Shier and the others to return to save him and was overjoyed. He was barely holding on and roared, “Great! This crawler is also dying! I’m confident I can kill it—just hold it off for me!”
Guo Shier said nothing more. He released the Giant Perch Dragon, the Dark-Winged Demon Scorpion, and the Ancient Flame Sparrow.
As soon as the Giant Perch Dragon appeared, it sensed the Great Golden Armor. It let out a roar that made Guo Shier laugh and cry at the same time—it was a roar of fear. The Dark-Winged Demon Scorpion was also struggling, emitting squeaking sounds as it retreated step by step. The Ancient Flame Sparrow circled around Guo Shier, refusing to move forward. The level-13 mutated Great Golden Armor possessed an extremely powerful spiritual pressure. Even as it was dying, its aura terrified these spirit beasts and insects.
Guo Shier was shocked inwardly. Spirit beasts and insects were his greatest trump cards, but now even those weren’t effective. It seemed he would have to go in himself. He activated all his defenses, including the Green Lotus Talisman, and even used his Life Sword Talisman for protection. His only hope now was the Giant Axe Talisman—perhaps it could do something.
When the Great Sage saw Guo Shier release the Giant Perch Dragon and the Dark-Winged Demon Scorpion, he was initially delighted but soon disappointed. With just one glance, he realized they weren’t powerful spirit beasts or insects. Such creatures could be easily dealt with before he was injured. He understood he still had to rely on himself and could only use them to hold off the Great Golden Armor for a while.
Guo Shier ignored the Giant Perch Dragon and the Dark-Winged Demon Scorpion, knowing they weren’t very useful. His only hope was the Giant Axe Talisman, as even his Life Sword Talisman wasn’t very effective. Since the Giant Axe Talisman was of a cold nature, it should have a suppressive effect on the fire-type talisman insects like the Great Golden Armor.

The giant armor fell to the ground, and the Great Sage also landed. The two sides faced each other like fighting chickens, both desperately gathering strength.
Guo Shier and the Eagle Demon also dared not act, but remained highly alert, with their giant axe talismans ready to be used.
