Chapter 1: Deterrence (Part 2)
The Dark-Winged Demon Scorpion appeared very excited. It circled Guo Shier twice, and the bulge on its back suddenly split open, revealing hundreds of scorpions the size of basins, which was truly terrifying. Not only were the people of the Fuye Family terrified, but even Yan Long showed a look of surprise.
The small scorpions covered Guo Shier completely. The little firebird, which had just spread its wings, let out a cry that grew louder by the second, and in the blink of an eye, it grew into a two-meter-long bird that stared menacingly at Fuye Chen.
There was no way to fight now. With just the power of these two talismans, Fuye Chen was doomed to lose.
Yan Long said, “A Grade 5 mutated Ancient Talisman Worm, a Grade 6 mutated Firebird, and a group of Grade 3 mutated scorpions—even a mad master might not be able to defeat Shier. Heh, that’s a bit much.”
At that moment, the golden threads in the air suddenly turned into light blades the size of door panels, swirling above Guo Shier’s head, with the sound of cutting through the air filling the air.
The three Holy Masters on the other side cursed inwardly. This was too much. There were not only Ancient Worm Talismans and Firebird Talismans but also extremely rare Sword Talismans, along with a high-level Great Talisman Sorcerer. How could a Great Talisman Martial Artist deal with this? Approaching would mean certain death.
Fuye Chen’s face turned pale. He had originally planned to quickly subdue Guo Shier to have a chance. Now, not to mention approaching Guo Shier, even the Dark-Winged Demon Scorpion and the Firebird were beyond his control—he couldn’t even get a step closer.
The old man in white stepped forward and said, “Stop! You’ve won!”
Guo Shier retorted irritably, “Just because you say stop, I’ll stop? When I said stop before, he ignored me completely… If you want to get involved, my master will be with you…”
Kumu didn’t say a word but stepped forward, his invisible presence forcing the old man in white to retreat step by step.
Another middle-aged man in light green robes stepped forward and said, “Wait. Perhaps there’s a misunderstanding between us. I hope we can sit down and talk. If we’ve offended each other, we can communicate and resolve the misunderstanding… I am the senior patriarch of the Fuye Family, Fuye Mingzu.”
The old man in white stepped forward and said, “I am the senior patriarch of the Fuye Family, Fuye Anxing.”
The last old man, dressed in coarse cloth, said, “Fuye Han.”
Guo Shier shouted, “Hey! Fuye Chen! Are you going to fight or not? Weren’t you so arrogant before?”
Monier asked, “Why was he arrogant?”
Guo Shier recounted the bet he had made with Fuye Chen back then, explaining how Fuye Chen finally broke the deal and forced his way in to capture him. If not for being thrown out of the secret realm, he would have been finished. Monier listened in fury and said, “Bastard! How dare you bully our precious one like this!”
Everyone heard about this for the first time. Actually, it wasn’t that big of a deal—being weaker and getting bullied was normal. But now that Guo Shier’s strength had soared, he had the right to retaliate.
Fuye Anxing sighed, inwardly smiling bitterly. Fuye Chen had taken his father’s place as a clan elder, belonging to his faction, and wearing his disciple’s title. He was the most arrogant and domineering person in the clan. Who would have thought he’d run into such a troublesome kid?
“What do you want before you stop?”
Guo Shier sneered, “It’s simple—fight me!”
Fuye Anxing said, “Leave some room for the future; don’t be too extreme.”
Guo Shier laughed and said, “What you say makes perfect sense! Fuye Chen didn’t leave any room for me… that’s why we can’t meet peacefully. Whenever we meet, it ends in a fight… Heh, I’m here to fight now. How about that?”
Fuye Chen had already hidden in the crowd, refusing to come out at all. Coming out meant certain death. He wasn’t stupid—he knew that with a senior clan elder around, he would be protected.
Fuye Anxing was left speechless, wondering how this kid could be so eloquent.
Yan Long and the others let Guo Shier act recklessly. They didn’t want to talk to him at all. If it weren’t for concern about the altar, they would have already started fighting. All of them regretted not confronting him when the flying vehicle appeared. They hadn’t realized the altar couldn’t be damaged, which forced them to step on it. When Kuumu took action, they realized this problem, which is why Yan Long signaled Guo Shier to go and trouble him.
Guo Shier shouted, “Fuye Chen! Come out!” Bullying others felt great; he was excited.
Fuye Chen hid in the crowd, standing there with a pale face, not daring to make a sound.
Guo Shier kept shouting, “Fuye Chen! You’re a coward! A cowardly bastard who fears the strong! Come out!”
The people of the Fuye clan were in a miserable state, standing there like wooden chickens, too afraid to protest or unable to. No one stepped forward. Even if they were stronger than this kid, he had three holy masters behind him, one of them a terrifying high-level holy master. If they provoked his master, it would be far more terrifying than dealing with this kid.
The scene was somewhat eerie. A little boy with rosy lips and white teeth was shouting angrily, surrounded by hundreds of scorpions. Not far away, there was a huge ancient scorpion with bared fangs, and a two-meter-long firebird was flying above his head. A blade the size of a door panel hovered in the sky. A group of people from the Fuye family stood there foolishly.
Monier was stunned for a while before finally bursting into laughter. Watching Guo Shier cursing wildly, she found it very amusing.
Guo Shier was also exhausted from cursing; foam appeared at the corners of his mouth, and he was parched. He took out a bottle of water, took a sip to moisten his throat, and continued shouting, “Fuye Chen…” For a moment, he couldn’t think of any more words, so he called out again, “Fuye Chen! You…” From calling him a coward to an idiot, from a jerk to a bastard, he didn’t know what else to call him.
Fuye Chen no longer had any face left. All he cared about now was saving his life. Let them curse him; it wouldn’t cost him any flesh.
Yan Long shouted, “Shier, come back. Why bother fighting with a coward?”
Guo Shier was glad Yan Long said that. He had run out of insults and didn’t want to curse anymore—his mouth was numb from it. Rubbing his cheek with one hand, he muttered and walked back. As he moved, all the small scorpions moved too, looking quite terrifying.
Seeing Guo Shier retreat, everyone from the Fuye family breathed a sigh of relief. The commotion alone had been astonishing.
Huh!
Guo Shier froze, stopped in his tracks, and turned around. The people from the Fuye family, including the three holy masters, couldn’t help but take a step back. Monier laughed so hard she almost fell. She hadn’t expected cursing to have such power.
Yan Long said, “Shier.”
Only then did Guo Shier walk back gracefully. He had successfully portrayed himself as a little demon.
Monier said, “Baby, quickly put away these scorpions.” She was a bit afraid of these smallreptiles; just looking at them made her feel uneasy. If it weren’t for Guo Shier’s insect talisman, she might have couldn’t resist killing them.
Guo Shier did as she asked, putting away the ancient scorpion, the firebird, and the blade hovering in the sky. Monier hugged him tightly and said with a smile, “Our baby is really amazing… Even cursing is so excellent!”
Guo Shier broke into a cold sweat. His wife was too powerful. She could even praise this, without worrying about spoiling a child.
Monier handed him a bottle of water and said, “Baby, drink some water. You’ve got a hoarse throat.”
Yan Long asked, “Do you have anything else to say?”
Guo Shier immediately realized Yan Long wasn’t a competent negotiator. His tone was definitely condescending, like a judge interrogating a criminal.
The old man in white, Fu Ye An Xing, said, “This place was discovered by us… it should belong to our Fu Ye family!”
Yan Long smiled and said, “Nonsense!”
Guo Shier felt his legs go weak upon hearing this and spat out the water he had just drunk. This senior master really didn’t care about logic at all.
Those words instantly made Fu Ye An Xing shut up. His face turned red with anger, even turning purple.
After holding back for a while, Fu Ye An Xing couldn’t resist anymore. He said angrily, “Why do you dare insult me? We are both professionals at the Saint Master level. What do you want?” He was almost driven mad. Since he had reached the Saint Master level, no one had ever dared to be so rude to him.
Guo Shier said, “My senior master isn’t a Saint Master; he’s a Great Saint Master.”
Fu Ye An Xing roared, “So what if he’s a Great Saint Master? Just because he’s a Great Saint Master, does that mean he can… uh? What Great Saint Master… who is the Great Saint Master?” He suddenly realized that the person speaking across from him was a Great Saint Master? That was terrifying. How could a Great Saint Master come here? Was he just idle?
Yan Long said calmly, “I am the Great Saint Master!”
Everyone from the Fu Ye family stepped back two steps, their faces filled with fear. Although no one had ever seen the power of a Great Saint Master, its strength was beyond doubt. Only the top sects could have a Great Saint Master leading them. Although the Fu Ye family was quite strong, it paled in comparison to a Great Saint Master.
A Great Saint Master hiding among several Saint Masters, pretending to be weak while actually being extremely powerful—how could anyone survive like this?
Just then, a bright light flashed, and a large talisman gate opened. Zhu Juan stepped out proudly, followed by a group of elders in purple robes, and then a large group of inner sect disciples in silver robes.
There were over a dozen Saint Masters, hundreds ofCrazy Masters Masters Masters, and master-level professionals approaching.
The poor people of the Fu Ye family were like withered grass in a storm, trembling in fear. The presence of so many high-level experts was terrifying. Just their aura alone was enough to keep them from moving, let alone fighting.
Yan Long smiled and said, “That so-and-so Xing? Ye Xing? No, why is this name so hard to remember? Come here. I’ll only say it once—listen carefully…”
Fu Ye An Xing lowered his head. Facing a Great Saint Master, he had no temper left and could only obediently listen.
Yan Long said, “Leave this secret realm immediately! No one from your Fuyue family… shall ever enter again! I won’t pursue this time, but if I find out… even if it’s just once, I will go to your continent and destroy your Fuyue family! Do you hear me?”
Fuyue Anxing actually breathed a sigh of relief. He thought they were surely doomed, but he didn’t expect Yan Long to spare them. He dared not be stubborn anymore and said, “Yes, we’ll leave this secret realm! We will never return!”
The people of the Fuyue family were completely terrified. They knew this was a powerful sect, and enemies with such a sect, even if not on the same continent, was extremely dangerous—one misstep could lead to complete annihilation.
Guo Shier suddenly shouted, “Wait! I have something to say!”
