Chapter 625: Disasters in the Abyss

While Donald’s influence in the main world was thriving, on the 422nd and 421st layers of the Infinite Abyss, a major upheaval was brewing—one capable of affecting the entire abyssal world and even impacting various realms of the multiverse.

In the White Kingdom of the 421st layer, hidden within a castle of necromancers amidst desolation, cold, and decay, stood a terrifyingly grotesque altar. If Donald had seen this scene, he would have recognized that this altar resembled greatly the two altars he had obtained from the Ash Forest and brought back from the demi-plane of Morth. Clearly, they all belonged to the same master: King of the Undead, Oscar.

“My lord Oscar, you are the creator of the undead, the king of the abyss. Your most devoted servant, Dorison, offers you fresh sacrifices in prayer for your descent!”

Dorison, the king of necromancers, who was much taller and straighter than ordinary necromancers, knelt before the altar, praying devoutly.

On the altar were tied two living werewolves, struggling desperately, their eyes filled with fear and resentment.

“Struggle on! The more you struggle, the more pleased my lord will be! As sacrifices to the great King of the Undead, you two beasts should feel honored!”

Hearing this, the werewolves struggled even harder, desperately praying to their deity, King Yenogu of the Werewolves.

Logically, since the 421st and 422nd layers were so close to each other, and Yenogu was nominally the ruler of the necromancers, he should have had great control over the White Kingdom. However, because Dorison’s castle blocked Yenogu’s senses, the prayers of these two werewolf believers never reached their deity.

Over the past thousand years of pretending to serve King Yenogu, Dorison had repeated such sacrifices countless times. Since both realms were interconnected, it was easy for him to send his subordinates to capture werewolves as sacrifices from time to time. These sacrifices would then transform into energy, transmitted to Oscar’s true form, hidden somewhere unknown, to restore the King of the Undead’s power.

Due to the utter chaos in the world of demons, countless battles take place in every realm almost daily. Thus, a decrease of just a few werewolves every few months is already hundreds of times lower than the average in the Abyss. As a result, the King of Werewolves, Yenogu, believed he was doing a great job protecting his people and was unaware of the hidden truths.

Using the souls and bodies of intelligent beings from the main world, such as werewolves, as sacrifices was a way to win over the powerful entities of the Abyss more easily than sacrificing demons. With such an advantage, Dorison naturally wouldn’t fail to take advantage of it.

Ignoring the struggles and resentment of the sacrifices, the skeletal face of the King of Ghouls, Dorison, remained cold and expressionless as he drew a sharp, narrow bone scimitar and lightly sliced across the necks of the two werewolves. Scorching blood flowed out like ruptured wine bags, spilling onto the altar. Instantly, the monsters carved on the altar seemed to come to life, drinking greedily from the blood of their sacrifices.

After a short while, once satisfied with the blood, the entire altar began to glow and tremble. Normally, after absorbing power, the sacrifice would be complete. Over the years, the master had hardly responded to Dorison’s requests. Most other beings might have given up by now. But as Oscar’s first ghoul, Dorison’s faith was unwavering and devout.

Yet today, the altar underwent a change unlike anything before. An invisible dark figure appeared above it. Soon, that figure transformed into the form of a sheep-headed demon—exactly the appearance of Oscar’s incarnation that Donald had seen before.

Dorison was naturally very familiar with the appearance and presence of his master. Seeing the will of the King of Undead descend, the soul fire of this King of Ghouls surged violently, clearly filled with excitement. He immediately bowed in devout reverence, praising Oscar’s holy name!

“Great Master, I have always believed you did not perish and that you would return to the Abyss one day. I never imagined this day would finally arrive!”

“Rise, my most devout child!”

The phantom formed by Oscar’s will said, “I have come this time with a task for you! After falling once, I need to regain my strength quickly to reclaim Thanatos and reestablish my position in the Abyss. But one of my incarnations has encountered problems, and a sacred artifact has been lost!”

Upon hearing this, Dorison immediately roared in fury, “Who? Who did this? Your servants will tear that scumbag’s throat out for you!”
“Although I don’t know the true identity of that person, it’s definitely related to those self-proclaimed righteous demi-gods. As long as they use the divine powers obtained from me, I can sense it. This accident cost me a valuable ally, and it has delayed my recovery even further! Worst of all, the news of my resurrection might have leaked!”
“That’s why this time I plan to devour a demon lord directly to restore my strength. At the very least, I need to return to the level of a mid-tier god so that Grant and the others can’t figure out my true strength and dare not act rashly!”
“As you command, great master!”
“Tell me about Thanatos!”
Having not returned to the Abyss for many years, Oscar was eager to know the current situation in the Infinite Abyss to plan its next move.
It seemed that the fall of its avatar and the loss of the Book of Doomsday had indeed filled this king of the undead with urgency and concern.
Dorison began to explain without hesitation.
“You mean that although Oustachius and Grant didn’t conquer Thanatos personally, they secretly sent their subordinates to infiltrate it. Now, although Thanatos appears to be divided among various undead realms and powerful demons, at least 60% of it is under the control of Oustachius and Grant’s subordinates!”
“Yes, great master!”
“Those damned fools!”
It is said that besides Thanatos in the Death Wasteland, Oscar also rules over other layers of the Abyss.
But neither the most learned demonologists in the main world nor the gods can be certain of this, as the environment of the Abyss is too chaotic, and changes in who rules each layer happen frequently.
In fact, only Oscar knows that aside from Thanatos, the other layers it rules over are basically small semi-realms hidden in the corners of the Abyss, and even combined, they are not as powerful as Thanatos.
It is by ruling Thanatos in the Death Wasteland that it can gain abyssal powers comparable to those of higher gods.
Thus, Oscar’s willful avatar roared in anger, “Thanatos must be reclaimed! I will make those insects who attempt to steal the power of my great king of the undead understand what pain and regret mean…”
