Chapter 417: Igniting the Divine Fire (1)
By the time Donald reached the core of the Godland of the Winter Wolf God, in front of a massive iceberg atop an icy plain, the Truth Book had already analyzed 78% of the Godland’s rules. Once it surpassed 80%, the rules of this weak Godland—established not long ago by a newly risen god and without any further development for tens of thousands of years—would have little impact on him!
“Come out! God of the Winter Wolf, your fate is already sealed—failure awaits. Give up now to avoid further suffering!” Donald shouted at the iceberg. Of course, he knew that given the God of the Winter Wolf’s cruel nature, the chances of it surrendering were slim. He did this merely to provoke its anger and affect its emotions. It also bought time for the Truth Book to continue analyzing. Sure enough, a fierce roar came from within the iceberg, and a giant wolf over a hundred feet tall emerged from it.
As soon as the giant wolf appeared, it immediately unleashed a powerful frost blast so cold it could freeze even pure gold, targeting its enemy—Donald, the intruder into its Godland. Donald dodged the fierce attacks while looking for an opportunity to counterattack, keeping an eye on the Truth Book’s progress.
Although analyzing the Godland’s rules became increasingly difficult and time-consuming as it progressed, the remaining 2% was completed shortly after the battle began. After successfully analyzing over 80% of the rules, Donald felt a surge of energy throughout his body. The pressure exerted on him and his soul had almost vanished.
So, Donald stopped focusing on the further analysis and let the Truth Book work on its own, concentrating fully on preparing to challenge and defeat a true god. Though it was merely a soul embodied by divine power, it was still a true god. This was Donald’s first direct confrontation with one. He valued this opportunity greatly!
However, the actual battle disappointed Donald, who had hoped to show off his skills. Before he could use his strongest moves, the giant wolf formed from the God of the Winter Wolf’s soul lost its strength. It could no longer emit those terrifying frost blasts, nor could it maintain its form. Without Donald even intervening, it collapsed, unable to resist effectively.
After calculating the time, Donald finally remembered that the spell targeting the true form of the God of Winter Wolves had begun to draw upon its divine power. If the God of Winter Wolves couldn’t stop it, it would soon be exhausted—maintaining its combat state already consumed a great deal of divine power, while the powerful spell outside continued to drain it greedily like a vampire. This time, it had used up all its hidden reserve divine power, and once the spell activated, all the advantages it had painstakingly built were not only reversed but even worsened.
“How boring. Falling so easily?”
Slightly disappointed, Donald waved his hand to absorb the God of Winter Wolves’ powerless soul, which then condensed into a brilliant dodecahedral crystal under the light of the Book of Truth.
“Is this the divine essence of a newly risen god? It’s truly beautiful!”
The divine essence seemed to contain a vortex of starlight, its surface covered in a layer of blue-white flames with golden hues—those were the flames of the God of Winter Wolves. After reaching the status of a demigod, these flames did not disappear but transformed into a fundamental force second only to the divine essence itself, used to purify impurities in divine power and faith, thereby aiding the divine essence in transforming power.
Compared to the hollow hexagonal divine essence of a demigod, which only had flames, this dodecahedral true god divine essence also included a divine domain, making it far more solid and stable—completely different from the illusory nature of demigod divine essences and fragmentary divine essences, which seemed on the verge of disappearing at any moment.
After admiring the divine essence for a while, Donald stored it away. He wasn’t foolish enough to touch it directly—not only because of the laws and powers it contained, but also because the flames alone were enough to destroy his entire existence! He wrapped it in the power of the Book of Truth before storing it within a high-tier artifact for preservation.
Next was the next step: dealing with the divine kingdom left behind by the God of Winter Wolves. Since his own power wasn’t yet sufficient to relocate and control a divine kingdom, Donald planned to follow the method he had used when creating a demi-plane—separating this small divine kingdom from the true form of the God of Winter Wolves and placing it outside the barriers of the Kingdom of Truth.
A divine kingdom without its master would gradually deteriorate and wither over time. While this period was long for mortals—usually spanning hundreds of years—Donald wasn’t going to let such a valuable entity decay on its own. Thus, it needed to be tied to the Kingdom of Truth, relying on the power of this massive divine kingdom to maintain stability.
Although the divine realm of the God of Winter Wolves was many times larger than Donald’s own demi-plane, it was still like the difference between basketball and dust compared to the Realm of Truth. With his divine power replenishing the gradually recovering Realm of Truth, it could easily cover the minimal consumption of the God of Winter Wolves’ realm.
Returning to the sealed space on the third level beneath the Sky City, Donald saw the true form of the God of Winter Wolves, now devoid of divine power to sustain its realm. Its fur seemed much dimmer. Yet, the giant wolf still retained a trace of life.
The wolf skin that had been taken earlier and the divine blood extracted had long since recovered completely—this was the power of immortality that true gods possessed. Even if split into thousands or tens of thousands of fragments, as long as one fragment remained intact and retained divine power, it could slowly recover and form a new god.
Having extracted enough value from the God of Winter Wolves, Donald decided not to further exploit the giant wolf’s body. After all, this was part of what was agreed to be handed over to the Holy Spirit of Celt I. Although the divine body could fully recover if left intact for a while, if it were in too pitiful condition, it would look unseemly and suggest Donald was too stingy.
So, Donald immediately sent a message to Celt I to arrange the handover of the divine body.
Within less than half an hour of receiving the message, Celt I hurriedly appeared before Donald. This showed just how desperate he was for a physical body as a Holy Spirit!
Inside the mage tower, upon seeing the giant wolf’s body appear out of thin air, even Celt I’s usual composure couldn’t hide his excitement.
“Great! Thank you, Donald, my friend! Now, once I merge with this divine body, I can ignite the divine flame!”
