Chapter 51: The Late Viscount – Section 1
“Found it!!”
Baroka’s loud voice was like thunder, but what happened next was beyond Blood Pupil and Monkey’s expectations.
It was unclear what Baroka had been doing ahead, but suddenly the entire ground began to shake violently. Massive boulders gushed up from the ground like fountains, shooting into the sky. With Baroka at the center, the ground around him collapsed abruptly. Blood Pupil and Monkey, who were at the edge, managed to avoid being trapped only because they moved fast enough.
Even so, they were terrified. The sight of the ground splitting open was nothing short of astonishing. In this eerie place, there was no moment to relax. Once they stood firmly on solid ground, they both turned back simultaneously and saw that the spot where they had stood before had turned into an bottomless abyss, with edges as sharp as cut by a knife. They both paled instantly.
Blood Pupil, being direct, started cursing right away.
“Baroka, what the hell are you doing? Creating such a huge disturbance without warning—do you want to trap all our brothers here?”
“Do you think I wanted this?” Baroka retorted rudely from ahead, his tone full of resentment.
“I just moved a big rock. Who knew it would cause such a fuss?”
“What? Just a rock?” Hearing this, Blood Pupil was shocked. Ignoring the fact that he had just stabilized himself, he shouted desperately,
“Run!!! Hurry up and leave that place!!!”
“What?” Baroka was confused by Blood Pupil’s sudden panic and asked in confusion. Meanwhile, his subordinates weren’t idle. In that short time, they directed several mechs to lift another huge rock, several meters square.
But at that exact moment, something drastic happened.
“Boom!” With a loud explosion, the lifted rock burst apart mid-air. The entire platform started shaking. Visible to the naked eye, huge protrusions appeared beneath the area where the boulders had gushed out, as if something was trying to emerge from below. Baroka reacted quickly enough. In panic, he pulled out something resembling a rocket launcher from his mech’s backpack and aimed it at the protrusions ahead, ready to fire…
“Stop, Baroka! Are you planning to blow everyone away with that thing?” Realizing something was wrong, Blood Pupil hurriedly warned him again. Only then did Baroka snap out of it. He laughed sheepishly and quickly pulled the soldiers beside him back toward Blood Pupil.
In the blink of an eye, less than ten meters after Baroque had run away, another even more powerful explosion occurred. Xue Tong felt as though he was standing on the crater of a volcano, with his mech swaying uncontrollably. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t regain his balance. In panic, he looked ahead and saw small figures indeed crawling out from those protrusions.
Calling them small was only in comparison to the Blood Moon that Xue Tong was piloting. In reality, even the shortest of these humanoid figures stood at three meters tall. Since they didn’t have as many external devices as mechs, they appeared exceptionally normal. Under the lights at the excavation site, every detail of these figures was clearly visible.
“That’s…” After seeing those suddenly appearing figures clearly, Xue Tong gasped sharply.
They were clearly miniature mechs!! With standard human-like bodies covered in shiny armor layers—unknown in composition. Although they didn’t have the thickness typical of regular armor, Xue Tong had no doubt about their defensive capabilities. Three meters in height might not seem very tall, but it perfectly met the optimal standards of mechanics, giving off an impression of explosive power. At first glance, they resembled cheetahs ready to pounce. From Xue Tong’s angle, he couldn’t see if they were armed, but for some reason, he suddenly felt a sense of danger. All the hairs on his body stood on end in an instant.
As if in response to his feelings, the monkey beside him suddenly shouted, “It’s this! The one that defeated me and the leader! It’s this kind of mech!!!”
“What!!” Hearing this description, Xue Tong’s eyes widened in shock. He stared at those humanoid figures in disbelief, his heart trembling as if struck by thunder.
Could it be these guys who killed the leader in one strike? The Murder Emperor, torn in half, flashed before his eyes. Xue Tong suddenly felt sweat forming in his palms… And most importantly…
How could there be so many of them?!
After all, according to the monkey’s description, these were terrifying weapons powerful enough to instantly kill Blackhair. In Xue Tong’s understanding, having just one such being in the entire universe would already be remarkable, and only the greatest technicians would be qualified to pilot them. But right now, it was nothing like that.
There were hundreds of such mechs!!
What kind of power was this? No wonder the monkey had gathered so many subordinates. It seemed that the three thousand Blood Moons he had summoned earlier…
It’s not enough. If these miniature mechs truly have only half of the capabilities described by the monkey, then all three thousand warriors I gathered would have to be left here!!
Even if Snake Fang were to be deployed… Blood Pupil closed his eyes and shook his head in pain. Such tiny mechs—even with Snake Fang’s help—couldn’t possibly harm them, right? It’s like an elephant trying to swat mosquitoes; the power is there, but the precision…
At this thought, a cold glint flashed in Blood Pupil’s eyes. Without hesitation, the enhanced Blood Moon he was on suddenly stood firmly, bending slightly before… *clank, clank…* A series of sounds followed as massive heavy machine guns appeared in his hands, at his waist, and on his shoulders. Accompanied by mechanical humming, golden bullet belts were swiftly fed into the magazines!
All in!
As a warrior, he would rather die in battle than be intimidated by the enemy. Clearly, many others shared the same mindset as Blood Pupil. Almost as soon as the enhanced Blood Moon was ready for battle, Baroka’s huge rocket launcher was also prepared. All the Blood Wolf warriors around also drew their weapons. In an instant, the bright lights of their massive swords and the blue-colored gun muzzles stood like a forest, with everyone looking ready to face a formidable enemy. The atmosphere became extremely tense. Once Blood Pupil fired, the enemy would surely suffer maximum firepower right away.
Yet, in the end, no one took action.
Because just as everyone was about to attack, a lazy voice suddenly came through their common channel.
“You little brats. Is this all you have to welcome me with? Do you think you’ll be freed once I’m dead? When I go back, I want all of you to undergo intensive training for a month.”
“Yes… boss!!” Blood Pupil was stunned, hardly believing his ears. He exclaimed in shock. At the same time, the enhanced Blood Moon stepped forward to get a better look. Even so, he didn’t lower his six massive heavy machine guns, remaining vigilant as he aimed at those mysterious mechs. A cold murderous intent was ready to erupt at any moment.
This showed the combat discipline of Blood Pupil and the others. If it were ordinary warriors, they might have abandoned their vigilance out of excitement by now. But among the Blood Wolves, such a thing was absolutely impossible. Not just because of the voice of the black-haired man, but even if he appeared before them in person, verification would be required before believing it. Otherwise, it could only be taken as reference.
But this time, there was clearly no need for them to worry anymore. Soon, an even smaller figure rose from the ground. It was about three meters tall, with a shiny exoskeleton—almost identical to those mysterious figures that had appeared earlier. Yet the identification system sent a confirmation signal.
“It’s really a leader!!” Upon receiving this signal, Blood Pupil became excited and announced loudly. The blood wolf warriors around him cheered loudly and rushed over happily.
Monkey was the fastest. No one knew where he had hidden during the earlier confrontation, but now he suddenly appeared and rushed ahead of the black-haired man. Without saying a word, he bombarded him with a series of questions.
“Leader, how are you? Are you hurt? What exactly happened? What’s with this exoskeleton of yours? And what’s your relationship with those mechs around you?”
“Hehe, well…” The black-haired man smiled, unfazed by Monkey’s impulsiveness. He glanced back at the native power mechs around him, his expression filled with pride. But his face was covered by a mask, so Monkey couldn’t see it.
“It’s a long story. I’ll tell you later. You brats, why make such a fuss for no reason? It forced me to come out before I finished my task. Wait for me.”
With that, the black-haired man turned and disappeared back into the ground. Half an hour passed, and just as everyone was losing patience, a loud thunderous noise suddenly came from beneath the ground. The platform trembled violently, as if there were an earthquake. Before anyone could react, the ground in front of them exploded, and the black-haired man flew out abruptly.
“Let’s go. There’s no need to dig anymore here.”
“What? No digging?” Blood Pupil’s eyes widened instantly. “Did we come all this way for nothing?”
Hearing Blood Pupil’s question, the black-haired man, who had taken a few steps, stopped again. Without turning around, he suddenly let out a hearty laugh.
“Come for nothing? No, not at all. Look back.”
“What?” Blood Pupil and the others were stunned. Following the black-haired man’s instructions, they looked back and found that those miniature mechs from earlier were now neatly lined up in front of them, all kneeling on one knee. As they turned back, a series of clicking sounds arose. Their chests had actually opened…
