Chapter 4: Purple Armored Men (Part 2)
The Moon Blade spun once, and six Purple Armored Men crashed to the ground. Guo Shieru let out a howl and charged into the crowd, the Moon Blade flashing. This time, he didn’t even use the Soul-Calming Cauldron—killing over a dozen Purple Armored Men in an instant. The speed of his slaughter surprised even Guo Shieru himself; it was as if he were sweeping through them effortlessly.
Bang!
A figure was flung aside. Guo Shieru was surprised to find that this time the Moon Blade hadn’t pierced through but instead knocked a Purple Armored Man flying. Narrowing his eyes slightly, he saw the purple patterns on the opponent’s body and immediately realized it was a particularly powerful one.
After being knocked away, the man didn’t hesitate and retreated into the purple mist at lightning speed. Guo Shieru chased after him for a few steps before stopping—the man had already disappeared.
The air was filled with the smell of blood, and the ground was littered with corpses. In just a short while, the attacking Purple Armored Men suffered heavy losses. Before anyone could gather, more of them emerged from the purple mist. Guo Shieru shook his head in confusion—how could there be so many of them?
As time passed, Guo Shieru noticed even more Purple Armored Men appearing. It was impossible to kill them all; it was like poking an ant nest and attracting countless ants. In less than an hour, he had killed thousands of them. The Purple Armored Men kept coming in waves, fearless to the death.
Among them, aside from those with sparse patterns who were slightly more troublesome, the rest were mere fodder, constantly draining the others’ strength.
Guo Shieru and his group still didn’t realize that all the Purple Armored Men in this world had become enraged. Countless of them rushed toward their direction, screaming and charging wildly. At first, they didn’t pay much attention—fighting with their sacred artifacts was thrilling and effective. But as the battle dragged on, the forces of this world began to invade their bodies, and then they realized something was wrong.
The only ones unaffected were Aizek and Meili. Without sacred artifacts or altars, they fought relying solely on their strong bodies, so the forces of this world couldn’t invade them. They fought fiercely, moving through the ranks of Purple Armored Men like an unstoppable force. More of them died at their hands than at everyone else’s combined.
Guo Shieru had put away the Soul-Calming Cauldron, and the Moon Blade no longer hung from his hand—it had transformed into a long sword. He fought directly with it. Fortunately, the Moon Blade was extremely sharp; the weapons and armor of the Purple Armored Men were as fragile as tofu, cutting in two with just one strike.
The battle grew increasingly fierce. No one expected there to be so many Purple Armored Men. The ground was covered in corpses and blood. For the first time, Guo Shier felt hesitation. Waves of Purple Armored Men kept coming—after one group was defeated, another would take their place, leaving Guo Shier utterly overwhelmed.
Guo Shier shouted, “Damn it! There are too many to kill…”
Zhen Wuji, Ge Ha, Yao Zebusong, and Halechi felt almost the same as Guo Shier, using similar tactics. Each held a sacrificial artifact, but they struggled even more than Guo Shier. Having put away their own sacrificial artifacts, they could only rely on ordinary ones to fight. They all sensed the power of this world invading their souls.
Ezek and Meili became firefighters, rushing to wherever there were the most Purple Armored Men. As long as they dispersed the crowd, the others could take action. Despite holding sacrificial artifacts, their strength was still far greater. The only problem was the sheer number of Purple Armored Men, leaving everyone exhausted from fighting.
Hearing Guo Shier’s cry, Zhen Wuji roared, “Damn it! We have to keep killing even if we can’t finish them all… These people are all mad!” He held an ordinary axe as his sacrificial artifact, its cold light flashing. With one swing, the Purple Armored Men couldn’t defend against it—almost every strike killed one of them.
Halechi used a spear as his sacrificial artifact, being careful not to get blood on it. Leveraging the spear’s length, he could kill one enemy per strike. He aimed at the biological masks of the Purple Armored Men, punching holes in them with precision—killing them in an elegant manner. It was unclear what fighting style he had learned, but it was fast and highly accurate.
Ge Ha and Yao Zebusong, like Guo Shier, used sacrificial long knives—not their own personal artifacts, but ordinary ones that weren’t often used and were of lower quality, roughly equivalent to fifth or sixth-grade sacrificial artifacts. Yet here, they were like divine weapons.
The seven of them had long abandoned any formation, pushing forward relentlessly, killing everywhere—above and below ground, with blood flowing like rivers.
After half a day, everyone felt utterly exhausted. It wasn’t physical fatigue; with their strength, they could fight for days and nights without issue. But resisting the invasion of this world’s power, coupled with the relentless killing, had left their souls drained. After fighting fiercely for a while, they gathered together.
Ezek and Mei Li also felt a bit tired. Though they had never feared battle, they had never fought with such ferocity before. Facing the waves of Purple Armored Men, a single swipe of their claws could tear apart at least one person, and a sweeping motion of their tails could easily kill several. But after killing thousands, even they began to falter.
The Purple Armored Men, especially the lower-ranked ones, seemed utterly fearless of death. In contrast, those with patterns on their biological armor would retreat and avoid confrontation. Everyone looked grim, unsure of what to do.
Even killing chickens—killing tens of thousands in just half a day—would be a terrifying task.
Halechi cursed, “Using people… using dead bodies to stack them up. The people here are truly terrifying… If nothing else works, let’s just leave!”
Zhen Wuji smiled bitterly. “Where can we go?” he asked, swinging his giant axe in rapid cuts.
Halechi was stunned—there was indeed no way to retreat. Even if they wanted to leave, they didn’t know where to go. Should they return to the Talisman House? Qi Wu Zhen and Li Ran were still refining their techniques to break through barriers; interfering with them would be a real problem.
Guo Shier smiled bitterly inwardly. What was originally a distant attack had now turned into close combat. It had been a long time since he had used a knife to fight. This time, wielding the long blade formed from his Moon Blade, he didn’t know how many Purple Armored Men he had killed.
The Purple Armored Men sent more and more distress signals. They couldn’t understand how these seven people could be so powerful—over ten thousand of them had been killed or injured in just half a day. Piles of corpses lay on the ground, with more arriving continuously. The task of the Purple Armored Men present was to hold their opponents at bay, at any cost, summoning all those who could be brought to the scene.
Skilled Purple Armored Men gradually appeared, sneaking attacks among the crowd. After a few attempts, even Guo Shier nearly fell victim. The seven had to stay alert and continue fighting.
Zhen Wuji warned, “Be careful! Skilled Purple Armored Men are launching sneak attacks!”
As he spoke, Halechi roared, “Damnards!” His arm was stabbed—he was the first of the seven to be injured. Soon after, Ezek was also shot, but his thick skin made the bullet unable to penetrate it, though it did anger him. He immediately spotted the attacker, grabbed them, and bit off their head in one bite.
At the same time, seven or eight metal spears pierced his body with loud clangs, but none could penetrate his defenses. With a fierce shout, blood mist filled the air as Ezek charged into the crowd, tearing apart more than a dozen people in an instant.
Guo Shier also came under a surprise attack, but he was clever enough. He quickly drew out his Moon Blade, which transformed into a circle of talismanic light surrounding his body, killing the Purple Armored men who surrounded him in the blink of an eye.
Gradually, everyone noticed that the Purple Armored men around them were becoming stronger. The ones with patterns on their armor, which were once rare, started to appear more frequently, and everyone felt the pressure increasing. The Purple Armored men also had more weapons. At first, they fought with their bare hands, then some started using long spears. When the ones with patterns appeared, their weapons changed as well—most were still long spears, but of better quality than those of ordinary Purple Armored men. A few of the ones with patterns carried weapons that were not long spears but rather oddly shaped weapons.
By this point, everyone was covered in blood and flesh. Even though they were top-tier professionals, they couldn’t avoid the flying debris. Since they kept their defensive treasures inside their bodies, they could only protect part of their bodies. Each of them looked like they had emerged from a pool of blood, their clothes soaked in blood.
Not daring to use their ultimate moves, the seven of them felt overwhelmed facing thousands of Purple Armored men.
As the battle progressed, everyone became more and more restricted. There seemed to be no end to the number of Purple Armored men, and they kept coming. A few tried to fly to avoid them, but the opponents could also fly. Once in the air, they lost one layer of protection since there were no attacks from below on the ground. The seven were forced back to the ground. There was nothing more frustrating than this. In terms of strength, even hundreds of Purple Armored men couldn’t compare to just one of them, but thanks to their sheer numbers and the oppressive power of this world, they managed to overwhelm these seven top experts, leaving them anxious and dizzy.
This was the Purple Armored men’s strategy—let them fight to their heart’s content.
Zhen Wuji was extremely helpless. He shouted, “Who has a solution! Who can get us out of this?”
Apart from Aizek and Meili, who could ignore the attacks thanks to their strong physiques, the others were all slightly injured. Though the injuries were minor, they still annoyed them greatly.
Zhen Wuji suddenly remembered something. He turned to Guo Shier and called out, “Shier, don’t you have Spirit Beasts? Release them!” A large number of Spirit Beasts would be perfect for a group attack.
Guo Shier didn’t know what to do and said, “We can’t release the Soul Beasts. If those creatures are attacked by the forces of this world, they can’t be brought back.” Soul Beasts were extremely precious, especially since Li Ran’s breakthrough required a large number of Soul Bead cores for refinement. Li Ran had already warned him to keep the Soul Beasts as much as possible, as once his own Soul Bead cores were exhausted, he would have to use those from the Soul Suppressing Cauldron.
Zhen Wuji was also aware of this situation, but he was extremely frustrated from fighting non-stop and said, “Then find a solution quickly!”
Suddenly, Guo Shier came up with an idea and shouted, “I have a solution!”
Yao Zebusong yelled, “Then use it quickly! I’m going crazy!” With that, he killed two Purple Armored men who were charging at them.
