Chapter 6: Retribution (Part 2)
Qi Nanshan spat. “Tch! Revenge? I’ll wait! I’m just afraid you won’t show up!” He opened his mouth and sucked in the flame, integrating it back into the altar. Guo Shier turned just in time to see a faint shadow appear on Qi Nanshan’s altar before vanishing in an instant. That was the seventh layer of the altar, but clearly, the amount of soul energy wasn’t enough, so it disappeared after a brief flash.
Luo Jie’s flaming spear finally pierced Mitzi’s altar. This guy was much slimmer than Maitreya and didn’t dare resist at all; he just fled desperately, dragging countless subordinates with him. Along the way, he implicated at least five or six altar-level experts, but he still couldn’t escape in the end.
Mitzi roared in frustration, “Which continent are you people from… Ah…”
Luo Jie snorted coldly, “I won’t tell you!”
Mitzi cursed, “Damn it…”
Guo Shier set his sights on a professional with a solid-layer altar. He shouted, “This is mine… No one touches it!” Actually, it was the Handsome Old Man who had his eye on this person—he needed the soul of an altar-level professional. Since Luo Jie and Qi Nanshan moved too quickly, Guo Shier didn’t get a chance to act. Before he could do much, all the altar-level professionals were taken, leaving only this guy mixed in with the group of Grand Masters. It wasn’t until then that he activated his altar and tried to flee.
Luo Jie said, “Good, I’ll leave this one for you to play with. Nanshan, kill the others!” The two began chasing the fleeing Grand Masters. As for the altar-level professionals, there was only this one left. Since Guo Shier wanted him, they wouldn’t compete for him.
The professional with the solid-layer altar fled desperately, terrified. As he ran, he screamed, “I surrender! I surrender…”
Guo Shier transformed into a fiery red streak and charged straight at him.
Boom!
The man never expected Guo Shier to use such a brutal attack method. What was worse was that Guo Shier targeted his escape route and charged straight at him, leaving no chance to dodge. Just as he managed to activate his altar for defense, two altars collided, sending ripples of shock spreading outward.
Guo Shier couldn’t stabilize his altar either. Such collisions allowed no room for trickery—only the strength of the altar mattered. Both altars were thrown outward simultaneously.
After retreating about a hundred meters, the altar was brought under control by the Handsome Old Man. He cursed, “Are you an idiot? You could have used any sacrificial treasure to destroy him… Damn it, the shock is unbearable for an old man. Stop colliding already…”
Boom!
Another collision.
The man stared in horror at his altar, now covered in cracks.
Guo Shier tried to charge at him again amidst loud laughter.
Shuai Lao Tou was also helpless and cursed, “You little bastard, madman!” He certainly understood that given the hardness of Guo Shier’s altar, even a collision with a master of a fifth-tier altar wouldn’t cause much damage, as its core was the Ancient Ink Lotus, which was especially resistant to direct impacts. Even if cracks appeared, they could be repaired with sacrifices or soul beads. Yet this fighting style really didn’t suit Shuai Lao Tou’s taste—it had no technical skill at all, purely a barbaric attack method.
Boom!
The man was hit three times in a row and couldn’t help but curse loudly, “Damn it, you bastard…” Seeing the cracks on his altar spread like dried land, he frantically crushed sacrifices one after another. But for land that had dried out to the extreme, a light rain wouldn’t solve the problem, and he didn’t have any high-grade sacrifices. As the cracks grew larger, he desperately unleashed his life-saving sacrificial treasure.
A bolt of lightning flashed.
Guo Shier raised his hand and pointed at the Moon Blade. With a whooshing sound, the Moon Blade suddenly expanded to ten meters in size and instantly struck the lightning bolt. With a crackling sound, the lightning was sucked into the blade’s body. The blade’s momentum remained unchanged as it continued to strike downward. The two sacrificial treasures were incomparable—one was a first-tier treasure, while the Moon Blade was already a fifth-tier treasure. The gap in strength was too vast; no attribute could bridge such a difference.
Luo Jie and the others had already killed all the Gu Mi family professionals they could see. The group gathered around, and Luo Jie said with a smile, “Shier… What kind of fighting style is this? Just brute force?”
Qi Nan Shan said, “Interesting. It’s so exciting—I like this fighting style.”
Boom!
The man’s altar finally gave way and began to collapse piece by piece, with fragments falling down in a rush. His face turned pale, and he kept dodging, but due to the effect of the Fixed Outline Pearl, he couldn’t teleport and even moved very slowly. Fortunately, Shuai Lao Tou hadn’t used his full strength, otherwise he wouldn’t have been able to move his altar at all.
Guo Shier felt great—hitting the altar allowed him to vent his frustration and anger. He laughed loudly and once again drove the altar to charge at the man.
The man couldn’t dodge anymore and screamed in despair, “Stop hitting me… Damn you, bastard… Ah!”
Boom! Crackling!
Eagle Demon laughed, “Poor guy.”
Luo Zhan smiled happily. Only by seeing the Gu Mi family suffer did he feel his pent-up anger ease. Their feelings were similar—after returning to their hometown through great hardships, they found it in ruins with everyone gone. Such a blow was not only painful but also filled with rage. After all, they were all top-level professionals, and the only thing left to do was seek revenge.
The man’s altar began to collapse, with one corner already gone. He crushed all his offerings to try and repair the altar, but it still couldn’t withstand Guo Shier’s repeated attacks.
Guo Shier joyfully drove his altar to strike again. He hadn’t expected the opponent’s altar to be so sturdy; ordinary altars would break after a few hits. So this time he used all his strength, crashing through amidst the old man’s curses.
The man screamed in despair. He knew his altar could no longer hold.
Boom… Whoosh!
A cloud of dust rose as the entire altar disintegrated. The man was thrown into the air and immediately entangled by the Gu Xi Bi tentacles extending from Guo Shier’s altar. He screamed in agony as his soul was slowly drawn out.
Moments later, he had completely lost his soul. The old man exclaimed in delight, “Damn! Great!” Anyone who spent time with Guo Shier would pick up some of his slang, and the old man was no exception. He said in amazement, “As expected of a professional at the first-tier altar—his soul is incredibly strong…”
Once a person dies, their soul dissipates quickly. Even if the soul is drawn out right after death, only a portion can be obtained. If delayed any longer, very little of the soul remains. Drawing it out just before death allows for capturing over 90% of the soul—a rare opportunity.
However, this was still far inferior to what Luo Jie and Qi Nanshan could achieve. For professionals killed by the Soul Fire, they could obtain nearly half of their soul, especially if the Soul Fire was used on a large scale, allowing them to advance rapidly. This was a capability Guo Shier and the others didn’t possess.
The old man said excitedly, “Shier, you’re almost ready to advance to the fourth-tier altar. Haha, I’m an invincible genius old man!”
Guo Shier noticed tiny cracks on his own altar, but the old man quickly repaired them using a level-10 Spirit Beast. Still, the old man couldn’t help cursing a bit, as Spirit Beasts were not easy to come by.
After the fierce battle, not only were Luo Jie and Qi Nanshan unsatisfied, but Guo Shier and Yingmo Luo also felt it wasn’t intense enough. Only Nan You seemed indifferent, still wandering around with the two frightened girls at his side.
Luo Jie said, “There were still too few people this time. It wasn’t enough to hurt the Gu Mi family badly… Hmm, should we switch to another city?”
Guo Shier replied, “We gathered some materials this time, but it’s still far from enough. Switching cities is an option, but it needs to be a big city—preferably one where the Gu Mi family is directly based.”
Qi Nanshan added, “That’s right. Sigh, we killed them too quickly earlier. We should have captured a prisoner to find the Gu Mi family’s most important location.”
Suddenly, Guo Shier laughed and said, “An opportunity! Hehe! Look!”
The pillars of the teleportation array glowed again. During the battle, everyone had consciously avoided the array, so it remained intact, with no damage at all.
Luo Jie laughed, “Haha, more people are coming to die!”
Qi Nanshan reminded them, “Don’t go crazy later. Leave one altar-level professional alive!”
The group lined up in the air again, as if to welcome important guests, all staring at the teleportation array with expressions full of anticipation and excitement. Nan You looked at these madmen helplessly, thinking, “Whoever gets involved with them is doomed.”
