Chapter 3: The Hundred-Massive Continent (Part 1)
Feng Xilong pondered for a moment before saying, “We’d better not provoke that Black Symbolist. I have a feeling he’s quite strong—capable of wiping out an entire camp of Black Symbolists with ease… If we run into him, it will be troublesome, as his Soul Flame is extremely hard to resist.”
Bao Chengyong replied bluntly, “I won’t provoke a troublesome Black Symbolist unless he attacks us first.”
Ling Zhenren said, “If that Black Symbolist has a tangible altar, we’d better avoid him. After all, Black Symbolists are the most famous experts at challenging those beyond their level, and none of us can counter their Soul Black Flame. It would be a headache if we encountered them. Let’s go—head to the entrance first and leave this place.”
Yan Ruodai suggested, “Let’s work together to activate a Great Teleportation Talisman.”
Feng Xilong said, “Hmm, two people are enough. There’s no need for all of us to act together. Ling Zhenren and I will activate it.” The two quickly chanted the spells, forming an invisible Great Teleportation Talisman array. In the blink of an eye, everyone present disappeared.
In the blink of an eye, the group arrived at the entrance of the Yàn Continent.
Guo Shier was conflicted. He really wanted to figure out whether the Black Symbolist roaming the Yàn Continent was Master Luo Jie or Grandpa Nanshan, but he couldn’t say or do anything—he could only follow these people. Fortunately, he already knew that once Black Symbolists grew stronger, even these top professionals would be wary of them.
There was no way to stay now. If he stayed, it might even bring trouble to Master Luo Jie and Grandpa Nanshan. What was worse, if that Black Symbolist wasn’t Master Luo Jie but another one, he might well be a rival to Master Luo Jie—after all, Black Symbolists always fought among themselves.
Glancing back at the Yàn Continent, Guo Shier thought, “Maybe… I’ll come back!”
After leaving the Yàn Continent and passing through several continents and secret realms, Feng Xilong and Shi Yanxilong left first, followed by Bao Chengyong and Yan Ruodai. As they left, each gave Guo Shier their own message talisman. In their eyes, Guo Shier would eventually become a top professional, so it was only natural for them to treat him with courtesy.
After everyone parted, Juehu Miluo said, “Shier, come with me back to the Ancient Miluo Continent.”
Guo Shier didn’t want to go. Smiling, he said, “Uncle, I haven’t completed my own trials yet and need to travel outside for a while.” In truth, he was eager to leave and find a secluded place to begin his inheritance and practice, as he was just one step away from establishing his own virtual altar.
Juehu Miluo pondered for a moment before saying, “How much time do you need? It’s not suitable to undergo trials outside now. You should return to the Ancient Miluo Continent as soon as possible to receive the next stage of inheritance.” He didn’t know that Guo Shier already had an inheritance—one from the true ancient lineage of the Miluo family.
Guo Shier nodded and replied vaguely, “There are a few things I need to take care of first. I’ll be back soon, in no time.”
Juehu Miluo said, “Alright, I’ll take you back to the area under the family’s control. Make sure to finish your matters quickly and return. Don’t take risks or cause trouble along the way.” He cared deeply for Guo Shier, knowing the young man had a bright future ahead.
Guo Shier nodded and said, “Yes, Uncle.”
Juehu Miluo led the four of them through various secret realms and continents until they reached the territory controlled by the Ancient Miluo family. Guo Shier found that most of the coordinates from his inheritance memories could still be used, which eased his worries a bit. He knew the road ahead would be difficult, and finding his way home wouldn’t be easy.
Juehu Miluo gave a few more instructions before opening a talisman gate to leave. Before departing, he also gave Guo Shier a message talisman.
By the time Juehu Miluo left, Guo Shier’s vest was already soaked with sweat. He was afraid that the old man might force him to return, which would cause big trouble. Without decades of practice, it would be impossible to leave the Miluo family.
Yingmo looked around and asked, “Shier, where is this place?”
Guo Shier shook his head. “I don’t know. But I have this coordinate. Let me check it.” He closed his eyes and examined the coordinates recorded in his inheritance. After a while, he said, “This is an important continent of the Ancient Miluo family—the Senruo Continent. There are conquered barbarian tribes and many cities here.”
Yingmo asked, “Should we stay here… or leave?”
Guo Shier thought for a moment before saying, “Let’s find a place here. Avoid the cities and look for a secluded valley. I need time to strengthen myself before leaving and heading to another secret realm.” He sensed that Gu Mo Lian was unstable in his soul, so there was no time to change locations now.
Yingmo said, “Okay, Old Luo, Dingding, you protect Shier. I’ll scout ahead. This is mountainous terrain, so there should be many mutated talisman beasts. Let’s be careful.”
The four of them took off, with Eagle Demon leading the way deep into the forest. A day later, they arrived at a valley with a stream flowing at its bottom. The forest here was dense, filled with giant trees so thick they could only be embraced, clearly indicating it was an untouched primeval forest. Eagle Demon cleared a large area right by the stream. Guo Shier released the Talisman House and set up a hidden talisman array at the same time. He said, “We’ll practice cultivation here. Uncle Luo and Uncle Eagle Demon, you’re in charge of hunting. Dingding, you’re in charge of cooking.” Only after everything was arranged did he enter the Talisman House and sit cross-legged on the platform.
The harvest this time was beyond Guo Shier’s expectations. The Ancient Ink Lotus was extremely rare, almost equivalent to an altar. The materials he had collected before to build an altar could be saved by more than half, sparing him a lot of trouble as well.
The Ancient Ink Lotus rotated slowly within his soul. Guo Shier had already gotten used to the things in his soul. At first, it was hard for him to understand, but later he became accustomed to it. He could clearly see his own soul, see the things within it, and easily control everything in his soul.
When his mind sank into his soul, he saw his Life Talisman Ball gradually merging into the Ancient Ink Lotus. However, the various talismans inside the Life Talisman Ball were in disarray and needed to be organized.
Sorting and organizing was Guo Shier’s strength. In his past life, he had done similar work, organizing scriptures by category. Guo Shier found that he had collected a large number of Spirit-Hiding Talismans and Cultivation Talismans, with few others. He rearranged them all inside the Ancient Ink Lotus. Soon, the entire Life Talisman Ball was emptied, and the seven-layer talisman array outside it gradually disintegrated and entered the Ancient Ink Lotus. Once all the talismans were inside, the Life Talisman Ball began to disintegrate. After two days, it was completely merged into the Ancient Ink Lotus.
Guo Shier discovered that this Life Talisman Ball had excellent malleability. Even after merging into the Ancient Ink Lotus, it retained many of its original features and advantages, which could be manifested within it. Moreover, the Life Talisman Ball didn’t disappear completely; it still retained a basic structure, though he couldn’t think of how to utilize it for now.
It was only then that Guo Shier was sure he had truly obtained the Ancient Ink Lotus.
Three days later, Guo Shier let out a sigh of relief and said to himself, “It wasn’t easy. I finally succeeded. Hehe, the Ancient Ink Lotus is amazing—it’s like a natural altar. What could be better than this?” As he was feeling proud, suddenly his stomach cramped, making gurgling sounds, and he felt weak all over.
Guo Shier ran down from upstairs, shouting, “Ding ding, is there anything to eat? I’m starving!”
“Shier, we’re outside!”
Guo Shier rushed out of the room and saw Eagle Demon and the others sitting by the stream, roasting meat from an unknown wild animal over a fire.
Eagle Demon said with a smile, “This is a wild pig we just caught. According to the locals here, the meat of this kind of wild pig is excellent. Lao Luo specifically went out to hunt two—one big and one small. We’ll roast the big one whole and make soup with the small one. By the way, didn’t you collect quite a few vegetables? Get some and add them to the soup.”
Now they all knew that plain meat soup wasn’t as tasty as one with vegetables, especially since Guo Shier liked to add various cultivated mushrooms and such.
Guo Shier took out plenty of dried mushrooms and vegetables, threw them all into the large copper pot, and added a lot of spices. Smiling, he said, “It’s better to arrive at just the right time. I’m almost dying of hunger…”
Zhou Xiaoling laughed and said, “It’s your fault for hiding in the room for days without coming out.”
Eagle Demon was very skilled at roasting meat. He kept brushing fat on the meat and sprinkling fine salt and spices, and soon a rich meaty aroma filled the air.
Unable to wait, Guo Shier scooped up a big bowl of soup and grabbed a piece of flatbread to eat.
Zhou Xiaoling asked, “Did it work?”
Guo Shier nodded, mumbling, “Mm, it worked… It’s finally stable.” He quickly finished the soup and said, “Uncle Eagle Demon, is it ready? I want that back leg!”
Eagle Demon smiled slightly, a knife appearing in his hand. With just a light cut, the roasted wild pig’s back leg was separated. He said, “Here!” and threw it over.
Guo Shier caught it quickly and laughed, “Uncle, you actually used your life talisman knife to cut meat?”
Eagle Demon shrugged indifferently, “For killing people or hunting beasts, cutting meat or breaking bones—this knife does it all. It’s just convenient.”
Guo Shier held the golden-brown roasted wild pig leg, drooling at the sight. He took out a small knife and started cutting the meat. Suddenly, he stopped and said, “Shh!” He listened carefully and said, “It seems someone is approaching.”
Zhou Xiaoling laughed and said, “Shier, don’t worry. It’s local indigenous children.” She stood up and flew outside.
Soon, Zhou Xiaoling brought in two children.
Guo Shier looked up curiously and was stunned. The two children resembled the white people from his past life—golden hair, fair skin, and beautiful light blue eyes. One was a boy, the other a girl, both looking very cute. They were dressed in animal skins and carried short knives.
The two children politely said, “Hello, Grandpa…” Then they saw Guo Shier and, without any shyness, stepped forward and said, “Hello, Uncle!”
Guo Shier touched his face, wondering, “Am I already so old?”
Zhou Xiaoling giggled and said, “You should call him big brother. Come here—sister will give you some meat.”
The two children cheered and rushed to the Eagle Demon’s side. The boy stretched out his small hand and said, “I want the meat on your back!” The girl said with a smile, “Grandpa, I want this piece of meat!”
Guo Shier laughed and said, “Ding ding, so these are the natives here?”
Zhou Xiaoling nodded and said, “I went to their village and saw that they indeed are the local natives, living by hunting.”
