Chapter 3: The Hundred Major Continents (Part 2)

Guo Shier felt a sense of relief inwardly—he hadn’t asked for the names of the two children. He knew that once they left this continent, they might never return, so there was no need to know too much. This world was strange; he couldn’t fathom its mysteries and didn’t want too many attachments.
Watching the two children eat heartily, everyone’s mood relaxed. With children around, the atmosphere of violence naturally diminished.
Guo Shier was satisfied with this meal, and the two children were happy too. As dusk approached, Zhou Xiaoling took the two children back to the village. Guo Shier said, “We can’t stay here for long. Once Juehu Miluo returns to the Ancient Miluo Continent, they might find out who we are. If they come looking for us, we won’t be able to escape.”
Eagle Demon nodded. “We have at least a few dozen days as a buffer. Once we leave here, it will be hard for them to track us down.”
Guo Shier said, “I’ll go pack up the talisman house. Everyone, get ready to leave.”
When Zhou Xiaoling returned, Guo Shier immediately activated the interdimensional talisman, and the four of them entered a secret realm.
One secret realm after another was left behind, and continent after continent was crossed. It was unclear how long they had traveled. When most of the talisman gate coordinates became unusable, they arrived at a continent.
Guo Shier said, “Uncle Eagle Demon, it seems we’re at a dead end. This is one of the Hundred Major Continents—it’s probably not under the control of the Ancient Miluo family.”
Luo Zhan looked around and said, “This seems like a rather ordinary continent with a good climate. I wonder if there are any talisman sects on this continent. We can try to find coordinates of nearby secret realms, preferably those leading to the Tongyou Secret Realm.”
Eagle Demon smiled bitterly. “It’s easier said than done. The Tongyou Secret Realm… is extremely rare. If we could get its coordinates, I think it would make it much easier to return home.”
Guo Shier nodded. He knew too that the Tongyou Secret Realm was hard to find. In fact, a place like the Star Continent would be great, with countless secret realms to choose from. He said, “There are no other continents nearby. This is the last recorded continent. All around are coordinates of secret realms. Because… if we enter a secret realm and don’t want to go back, we have to find an exit to another continent or secret realm.”
Zhou Xiaoling said bravely, “Shier, let’s go! How can we know if there’s a path if we don’t try?”
Guo Shier nodded. “At this point, we have no choice but to try. We’ve been out for a long time. We need to be prepared not to be able to return for now. We can’t waste time—we must improve our strength as soon as possible.”

Eagle Demon asked, “Are there any sects recorded in the Hundred Great Continents?”
Guo Shier said, “Even if there are, they must be sects from countless years ago. The inheritance we have received is the true inheritance of the ancient Miluo family. Back then, in the Hundred Great Continents… whatever was recorded might have disappeared by now.”
Eagle Demon said, “Then we’ll look for them ourselves!”
The four of them flew toward the distance.
…
The Hundred Great Continents had no sects, but there were several famous cities. One of them was called Shenghua City, named after a precious tree—the Shenghua tree.
Shenghua City, named after this tree, no longer produced Shenghua trees. Due to decades of logging, the tree had long gone extinct, leaving only the city’s name.
Shenghua City was not a first-class city in the Hundred Great Continents, but its people were fierce. Eight spellcrafting families competed with each other, and the city ruler rotated among these eight families every two years, governing the city with a population of over two million.
The city was divided into an inner city and an outer city. The inner city was inhabited by the eight families, as well as professionals and merchants. The outer city was where ordinary people, wandering professionals, and foreign merchants lived. Outside that was a fortress. Each fortress covered several acres, built with thick bluestone, and blessed by spellcasters. Each fortress represented a small family that made a living through hunting and farming.
Outside Shenghua City, there were countless such fortresses, home to numerous small families. If spellbeasts or mutated spellbeasts appeared, these ordinary people would retreat inside the fortresses for shelter; they also lived there most of the time.
It was because they discovered these fortresses that Guo Shier and his group learned of Shenghua City.
Following the guidance of the residents in the fortresses, Guo Shier and his group quickly arrived outside Shenghua City. This time, they didn’t fly inside but walked along the main road to the city gates.
At the city gates stood a few low-level professionals and a small group of soldiers. They only served as gatekeepers and wouldn’t interfere with those entering or leaving the city. Their main role was to defend against wild beasts, so Guo Shier and his group were not stopped as they entered.
Guo Shier said, “This place is strange. It doesn’t seem like a high-tier continent; it feels more like an intermediate continent. I haven’t seen a single professional above the level of sage… Could it be a low-tier continent? That can’t be right. The coordinates of this continent were obtained from the inheritance…” He shook his head in confusion.
Zhou Xiaoling said, “Maybe it was a high-tier continent in the past but has declined now.”
Eagle Demon also said, “It is indeed a bit strange. So far, the highest-ranked professional I’ve seen is at the master level, similar to those in our North Spellcraft Sect.”

Guo Shier said, “A low-level Spellcraft Continent… probably not. Maybe it’s because the controlling family of this city isn’t strong enough. I think this continent should at least have the strength of an intermediate-level Spellcraft Continent. But it’s strange… The Baijuzhong Continent is so close to the territory of the Gu Miluo family—why hasn’t it been annexed?”
Eagle Demon said, “I don’t know… Forget it, Shier. Thinking about these things is useless. Let’s just buy some food first.”
Guo Shier nodded. “Mm, there’s still plenty of meat, but not much grain. We need to purchase some.” Everyone was familiar with such purchases—first going to a larger shop to exchange materials from mutated spell beasts for local currency, then buying the food and supplies needed.
Guo Shier, along with Eagle Demon and the others, quickly found a shop—a family-owned business in Shenghua City. The four of them went inside.
A rune sign hanging above the shop read that it accepted various materials from spell beasts.
The front hall was quite large, with a long table. The table was crudely made, assembled by sawing logs together; its surface hadn’t been treated at all and was already smooth from use. A few clerks were busy, while several professionals were selling materials like animal skins and bones from their hunts.
With a glance, Guo Shier realized that these professionals were at most master level, selling materials from level two or three mutated spell beasts. Eagle Demon said, “Hey, someone! We want to sell some materials.”
A clerk came over, glanced at them, and smiled. “You’re not from this city, are you?”
Eagle Demon asked curiously, “We’re from outside. Are there any rules here that don’t accept materials from outsiders?”
The clerk quickly replied, “No, our shop accepts materials from both outsiders and locals—as long as they’re valuable.”
Guo Shier threw out a spell storage bag and said, “Here’s a level five mutated brown bear.” Eagle Demon took it immediately. Guo Shier had collected quite a few level five or six mutated spell beasts, all of which he had disassembled and stored in spell storage bags for exchanging items across continents.
Level five or six mutated spell beasts were of little use to him personally, but they were perfect for trading. After all, he couldn’t bring out piles of materials from level seven or eight beasts every time—it would be too intimidating.
Yet even this level five mutated bear scared everyone in the shop.
Eagle Demon took out a huge brown bear skin from the spell storage bag and threw it on the ground. That stack of mutated brown bear skins was like a small mountain; if thrown on the table, it would likely crush it.

A mutated brown bear, about seven or eight meters tall—one can imagine just how large its skin was. Eagle Demon untied the ropes holding the skin, and it unfolded immediately. Several local professionals stepped back in horror; this piece of skin from a mutated magical beast covered almost the entire front hall. One of the clerks rushed to the back room quickly, as such decisions were beyond their authority as clerks. Another clerk eagerly brought over a low stool and said with a smile, “Please… have a seat!” Guo Shieru waved his hand and said, “No need. You guys just give me an estimate.” The clerk replied with a smile, “Well… that’s not something we can decide. We’ve already gone to call the owner and the appraiser.” News spread quickly in the small town, and professionals arrived soon after. The shop’s owner also came out with a group of professionals. After a quick inspection, Guo Shieru realized that the strongest among them was a beginner-level SpellSpellSpellcrafter -> Spellcrafter, likely a skilled member of the family running the shop. The owner was a master of spells; upon seeing the mutated brown bear skin on the ground, he was stunned. He couldn’t believe anyone would sell such a precious material. Eagle Demon, impatient with so many onlookers, said, “Everyone who isn’t related should leave!” A fierce spiritual pressure was suddenly released. However, he had no intention of harming anyone; he only used it briefly before retracting that terrifying force. All the lower-level professionals present felt extreme fear at that moment. Both the owner and the appraiser, who was at the level of a SpellSpellSpellcrafter -> Spellcrafter, were sweating profusely, realizing immediately that these people were high-level professionals—though they had no idea just how high. The beginner-level SpellSpellSpellcrafter -> Spellcrafter said, “Everyone, please step back.” All the professionals left the shop as instructed. The spiritual pressure they had just experienced felt like their souls were about to leave their bodies—it was a sign of extreme danger. No one dared complain. After leaving, many professionals rushed back to their own families. The owner said, “Elders, please come inside to discuss this.” Guo Shieru nodded. He needed help with purchases and said, “Okay, let’s go in.” None of them paid any attention to the mutated brown bear skin on the ground. The owner instructed the clerks to carry the skin inside and then politely invited the four of them in. In just a short while, all eight families in Shenghua City heard this astonishing news: high-level outsiders had entered. The head of each family rushed there immediately. The once peaceful Shenghua City became chaotic, in a complete uproar.
