Chapter 6: The Sky Serpent and the Tortoise (Part 1)

Guo Shier smiled and said, “Whatever’s roaring, we have so many of us. Even if it’s a level-10 mutated rune beast, we can still take it down! Hehe, level 10… I hope it’s an advanced mutated rune beast.” He really wanted to encounter an advanced mutated rune beast—its materials were valuable.
Monier said, “Places inhabited by advanced mutated rune beasts often contain valuable things. I hope we can meet one this time… It’s not easy to encounter an advanced mutated rune beast in a secret realm.”
When the Giant Nesting Dragon roared in response, the other’s roar grew even louder, one after another, as if it wouldn’t stop until the Giant Nesting Dragon was fully enraged.
As the roars grew clearer, Guo Shier said, “Everyone, get ready for battle!”
The Giant Nesting Dragon crashed through several giant trees, and everyone was surprised to see a vast grove ahead, with a huge black rock—over 400 meters wide and 60-70 meters high, resembling a lying ox stone. The Giant Nesting Dragon suddenly stopped and let out a thunderous roar at the rock.
Guo Shier stared blankly at the huge rock and couldn’t help asking, “What is this thing?”
Suddenly, the Giant Nesting Dragon’s body enlarged on its own, growing to over 300 meters long. Guo Shier was even more astonished because he hadn’t cast any spells—it was entirely the Giant Nesting Dragon growing on its own, its size tripling from 100 meters to less than 100 meters shorter than the lying ox stone.
Monier remained silent, gazing thoughtfully at the rock.
Eagle Demon exclaimed in surprise, “Hey, the rock is moving!”
The huge lying ox stone suddenly shifted slightly, and a muffled roar seemed to come from beneath the ground. A giant head rose from beneath the trees, and then the entire rock began to move—it was truly earth-shattering.
Monier stamped her foot, soared into the air, and shouted, “Everyone, fly up!” Without hesitation, everyone took to the air. Monier’s knowledge wasn’t the greatest, but among these people, she was at the top.
Guo Shier flew up and looked down, stunned. He exclaimed, “A turtle? No… this shape… it’s so strange!”

In the air, it was clearly visible that the creature had three segments of shell, a spindle-shaped body with the middle segment being quite wide, and triangular-shaped shells at each end. On its pitch-black dorsal shell were dark green runes, which, if not noticed carefully, might be mistaken for moss or similar plants. To Guo Shier, the creature resembled a snake carrying three huge shells on its back—extremely strange, and it was unclear whether it was a land beast or a sea beast.

There were countless monsters in the secret realm, and no one could say exactly how many species there were, as their appearances were bizarre and ever-changing. However, mutated monsters could be classified into series such as the earth serpent series, giant dragon series, tiger series, bear series, etc. The creature before them, which didn’t resemble either a snake or a turtle, truly left everyone puzzled.

After observing it for a while, Monier said in an uncertain tone, “Heavenly Snake Calamity Turtle? It seems to be a Heavenly Snake Calamity Turtle, but… but where’s its terrifying tail?”

Guo Shier asked, “What is a Heavenly Snake Calamity Turtle?”

Monier shook her head. “I’m not sure yet, but it should belong to the turtle series… maybe even the dragon turtle series… If it really is a Heavenly Snake Calamity Turtle, today’s trouble won’t be minor. This thing is very difficult to fight.”

Qi Nanshan said gravely, “It’s at least level ten! It’s definitely troublesome!”

Guo Shier gasped in shock. In the Bloody Land, he had seen even more powerful Spirit Beasts, but Spirit Beasts were a different kind of existence. This was the first time he had seen a real level-ten mutated rune beast. No wonder the Giant Nesting Dragon refused to move forward at first and kept roaring, giving off an impression of being fierce on the outside but weak on the inside.

A giant tail, two hundred meters long, suddenly rose upright, like a huge flagpole, soaring high in the air. Monier exclaimed in horror, “It’s indeed a Heavenly Snake Calamity Turtle! Hide quickly!”

The thick tail swung down abruptly, causing everyone to scatter in fear. But the Giant Nesting Dragon opened its mouth wide, and a cluster of glowing light shot out, transforming into a brilliant beam that cut toward the swinging tail.

The Giant Nesting Dragon emitted three clusters of silver light in one breath, then quickly jumped to the left. With its massive size, such a jump created tremendous disturbance, as if a mountain had moved to the other side. The earth-shaking sensation was terrifying, and many of the short trees collapsed as if hit by a strong wind. Even these short trees were over ten meters tall and couldn’t withstand such intense vibrations.

At the same time, the first silver glow struck the swung tail. With a loud explosion, the tail paused for just a moment before swinging down again. Two more loud blasts followed, but they still couldn’t stop it. However, the silver glow did have some effect, preventing the Heavenly Snake Calamity Turtle from controlling its tail. The thick tail slammed into the ground, just over ten meters away from the Giant Nesting Dragon, narrowly missing it.

Guo Shier felt his scalp tingle as he watched the massive black tail swing down, its howling sound terrifying. Whoosh… Boom! The power of that tail was unimaginable—it sank five or six meters into the ground, crushing trees and rocks into powder and raising a cloud of dust. Then came the Heavenly Snake Calamity Turtle’s fierce roar, shaking everyone so much they almost fell from the air.

The Giant Nesting Dragon grew even more fearful and began to shrink rapidly. It seemed to have realized a truth: the larger its body, the greater the chance of being struck. Guo Shier was speechless—this creature was so cunning and quick-witted.

Fortunately, the Heavenly Snake Calamity Turtle moved slowly; it took over two minutes just to turn around.

Qi Nanshan shouted, “Let’s go! Shier, use the Giant Nesting Dragon to hold it off!”

Guo Shier originally wanted to step forward too, but after seeing the size of the Heavenly Snake Calamity Turtle and considering the talismans he had, he shook his head. If the Dark Winged Demon Scorpion were struck by its tail, it wouldn’t die, but it would surely be severely weakened. The Ancient Flame Sparrow probably couldn’t burn through such a huge creature either. As for his Life Sword Talisman, he wasn’t sure if it would work. Thinking it over, the best option was to use the Giant Nesting Dragon to distract the Heavenly Snake Calamity Turtle. He shouted, “Okay! But you need to hurry— the Giant Nesting Dragon can’t hold it off forever!”

Guo Shier began to give commands using spells. These were mandatory orders. Although the Giant Nesting Dragon already had a sense of consciousness, it wasn’t as quick-thinking as Guo Shier.

The Giant Nesting Dragon let out a defiant roar. Guo Shier knew in his heart that the dragon was actually terrified—a natural fear because the Heavenly Snake Calamity Turtle was of a higher rank, and its soul pressure filled the dragon with great fear. But under Guo Shier’s spell control, it had no choice but to continue provoking.

Guo Shier didn’t dare sit on the Giant Nesting Dragon’s back, as it was too vulnerable to attacks. To be safe, he released the Ancient Flame Sparrow as protection and then guided the Giant Nesting Dragon to move around.

The Heavenly Snake Calamity Turtle raised its tail again, its massive body turning slightly as if searching for the perfect angle to launch another attack.

Suddenly, the towering tail swung down, and its whistling sound through the air terrified Guo Shier. He frantically ordered the Giant Perching Dragon to dodge while also instructing the Ancient Flame Sparrow to shoot out talismanic flames in an attempt to disrupt the tail’s strikes. Even so, the Giant Perching Dragon couldn’t avoid it and was hit in its left front limb. That single strike turned the dragon back into a mere wisp of spirit. Guo Shier cursed in anger, but since it could reassemble, the Dragon could still challenge the Sky Snake Calamity Turtle.

Soon, Guo Shier discovered a trick. The Sky Snake Calamity Turtle’s tail strikes covered a fan-shaped area, so it couldn’t reach its own body or head. He immediately ordered the Giant Perching Dragon to position itself opposite the turtle. Only then could Guo Shier see the turtle’s head clearly. It was enormous and black, resembling a snake’s head at first glance, but so large it was unbelievable. Its huge eyes had sea-blue pupils that were vertical, giving off a sinister vibe. When it stared at the Giant Perching Dragon, even Guo Shier felt extremely uneasy.

The Giant Perching Dragon began to tremble. Gathering its courage, it let out a roar that left Guo Shier both amused and annoyed. It wasn’t a display of strength at all—it sounded more like a kitten’s mating cry, a terrifyingly shrill sound filled with fear. Guo Shier couldn’t help but laugh and scold, “Do you really have to do that?”

The Giant Perching Dragon shook its head. It wanted to flee, but under Guo Shier’s strict control, it couldn’t resist. It could only stand in front of the Sky Snake Calamity Turtle, trembling while letting out roars a hundred times worse than a kitten’s cry. The turtle showed contempt in its eyes.

Guo Shier kept a close eye on the turtle, briefly glancing at Qi Nanshan and the other two as well. Qi Nanshan, Monier, and Eagle Demon had already flown to the turtle’s back. Standing there, they seemed to be discussing something. Guo Shier couldn’t hear them and grew anxious—why weren’t they attacking yet?

In fact, it wasn’t that they didn’t want to attack; they just didn’t know how. Eagle Demon, being impatient, tried to attack first with his own life talisman blade, only to nearly shatter it. The Sky Snake Calamity Turtle’s shell was incredibly hard. With Eagle Demon’s blade, even a shell made of pure steel could be pierced in one strike, but this dark shell only showed a fist-sized dent—completely ineffective.

The Eagle Demon rarely blushed, but this time his face turned red as he cursed, “What the hell is this shell? It’s so hard—there’s no way to break through its defense!”
Qi Nanshan said solemnly, “Let me give it a try!”
Monier pouted and stepped aside to wait quietly.
Qi Nanshan took a deep breath; his entire body seemed to swell slightly. With a gesture of his hand, a golden spear appeared in it—two zhang long and as thick as a duck egg. He then summoned energy, swung his arm forcefully, and the golden spear plunged silently into the shell, disappearing up to its handle, leaving only a hole as thick as a duck egg.
