Chapter 272: Fighting with Swords Across the Lands
“Let’s unite and wield our swords to purge the monsters from all corners!” Rod raised the Dark Dragon high and pointed forward, shouting solemnly.
“Purge the monsters! Eradicate the vampires, the werewolves! Powerful… truly powerful!” After those words, everyone’s morale seemed to soar; their faces turned red with excitement as they waved their weapons and shouted loudly.
Though there were only three hundred of them, and despite being in the midst of a chaotic battlefield, their shouts spread throughout the entire city walls and across the sky, piercing the night and reaching the heavens—their intensity was astonishing.
“Kill!” Seeing their fighting spirit, Rod nodded in satisfaction before shouting again. This was the morale he needed. On the battlefield, strength wasn’t always decisive; morale played a crucial role—sometimes even turning the tide.
“Skora, you take charge of the center. Brother Krod, you handle the east. Nightingale, we’ll handle the west. It’s time to put our skills to the test. We’ve trained for a thousand days for this moment. Though the three-day training was short, it’s now time to prove ourselves. Let’s fight together with our swords to clear the horde! Kill!” After making the assignments, Rod led his team toward the western city walls. The west had always been the weakest point, and this wave of monsters seemed targeted there as well. Every time, the west faced the greatest challenges—and today was no exception.
When they reached the western city walls, the battle there was already fierce. The arrival of Rod’s group immediately caught everyone’s attention, and smiles appeared on their faces upon seeing them.
“The Death Squad has arrived!” Someone shouted first upon seeing Rod and his team.
“The Death Squad! They’re here! Let’s counterattack! Kill them, brothers! We can’t let them take all the credit. Fight together!” Their presence acted like a catalyst, boosting everyone’s fighting spirit to its limit. Everyone was inspired, shouting loudly as they fought back with all their might.
In an instant, the battle became even more intense and brutal. Blood sprayed everywhere, mixed with screams and roars, filling the air above Iron Bar Town and audible to everyone.
Vampires constantly moved through the crowd, leaving behind chaos and destruction wherever they went. Their ability to fly allowed them to appear and disappear without a trace, making them extremely difficult to track. The wolves’ powerful attacks managed to break through dense defensive lines, creating huge opportunities for the magical beasts.
In this battle, the vampires and wolves seemed to have become supporting forces, their role seemingly limited to creating opportunities for the army of magical beasts! Though troubled by this situation, Rod had no choice but to accept it—he couldn’t sacrifice the overall strategy just to chase after a few individuals. He left it to the other troops. Leading his own squad, Rod charged into battle. After all, it was a newly trained unit with a less organized structure than the older teams, so their coordination wasn’t perfect, and their teamwork still felt a bit awkward. Yet even so, they performed remarkably well, killing countless magical beasts in a short time through their flanking tactics! The Dark Dragon, drenched in blood, became even more excited, emitting a deep humming sound as if declaring its triumph. The other members also experienced a significant boost in morale from such an easy and satisfying battle. As the fight continued, their coordination improved steadily, and gradually, they transformed into the main force in this battle, operating like guerrillas.
Despite their good performance, Rod remained frowning. Those damned vampires and wolves were still a menace. Moreover, Rod had one lingering doubt: if vampires and wolves were here, where were the demons? Logically, they should be nearby. And where were the main forces of the vampires and wolves? These clearly were just minions, testing the enemy forces—was a larger army waiting in the background, ready to deliver a fatal blow? All of this made Rod more cautious. If what he feared were true, it would be a huge threat, with unimaginable consequences if it erupted.
The battle raged on. Rod no longer knew how many magical beasts his team had killed. His entire body was covered in their blood, as well as that of his comrades. So far, his side had suffered heavy losses—out of 87 members, only 80 remained capable of fighting, with 5 dead and 2 injured. After less than half a day of fighting, casualties would only increase as their combat energy depleted. At the very least, 15 more would die. This figure made Rod frown deeply.
“Kill those two werewolves and the vampire!” Rod shouted angrily at those behind him, staring at the two werewolves and one vampire who were acting tyrannically back and forth ahead. One of the werewolves was at the Saint level, the other at the Emperor level, while the vampire was a Count of the vampire race at the Saint level, with a Marquis-level vampire appearing from time to time by his side. In total, there were four of them! Rod knew he couldn’t let these guys continue to act arrogantly—otherwise, he would eventually be destroyed by them. Their presence had already caused heavy casualties, and their breaches in the defense lines had given the magical beasts an opportunity to invade! To fight and repel the magical beast army peacefully, he had to deal with these guys first.
He had originally planned to have scattered troops deal with them, but whenever someone tried, they either fled immediately or joined forces to fight back. Many troops went, but either died or returned empty-handed, forcing Rod to urgently decide to take action himself!
Everyone had seen those guys’ behavior and had long wanted to beat them up, but they hadn’t had the chance or time due to Rod’s focus on dealing with the magical beast attacks. Now that Rod had given the order, they were happy to take action.
“Kill them! Brothers, we’ll eat wolf meat and bat soup tomorrow!” Curlie, who could no longer hold back, became excited at this moment. With a loud shout, he rushed forward first.
The primary targets were the two werewolves. The vampire’s ability to fly posed a problem, but since there were many werewolves, it was still possible to deal with them. Rod set his main focus on those two werewolves!
Under his leadership, eighty men moved swiftly toward the werewolves using their agility. At that moment, the two werewolves were attacking back and forth along the defense line on the western right wing, disrupting their defenses!
Seemingly sensing the arrival of Rod and his men, the lead werewolf’s eyes turned cold, showing a hint of excitement, as if he wanted to charge forward and fight. However, he ultimately didn’t do so. A long howl from the vampires in the air seemed to convey something, causing him to shake his hand violently and turn to leave!
“Old wolf! Don’t think you can escape! Today, I’ll split you in two!” Seeing the werewolves trying to retreat, Rod wasn’t willing to give up. With a loud howl, he entrusted his troops to Nightingale and rushed forward at full speed, aiming straight at the werewolf with the Roar of the Dark Dragon.
“Hmph, that damned dog! Stop right there, you wretch! Today, I’ll skin you, drain your blood, pull out your tendons, and eat your flesh—turning you into a dead dog!” curled hair, who had been motivating the werewolves, roared loudly as well.
The two werewolves, who had already started to retreat, suddenly halted upon hearing this and turned to glare coldly in their direction—their eyes seeming ready to devour them. They could ignore Rod’s words, but curled hair’s words ignited their fury! “Dog”? That was the worst insult a werewolf could hear. They always believed that descendants of werewolves should never be compared to dogs; such words were undoubtedly the greatest insult and provocation they could endure. This was something they absolutely could not tolerate.
At this point, the two werewolves, disregarding everything, rushed toward them with bloodshot eyes.
“Damnous werewolves, truly rude and ignorant brutes!” Seeing what was happening below, the two vampires couldn’t help but complain. The werewolves’ sudden turn had ruined their entire plan and brought immense trouble and danger. In an instant, they found themselves surrounded by people, in a very dire situation that made them hesitate.
After all, they were comrades. They should have rushed to save them in danger, but with so many enemies around, they felt they didn’t have the strength to turn the tide. Besides, they had orders from their prince above that they couldn’t disobey. With a frustrated wave of their hands, they could only stand indecisive.
“Humans, I’ll kill you!” Soon, Rod arrived in front of the two werewolves. Seeing him, the two werewolves roared and charged at him, simultaneously launching a frenzied attack on everyone around them!
How could they not recognize Rod? On the first day, their entire offensive had been ruined by this damned human, and countless of their men had died or been injured during his led counterattack. Now, he was the target of pursuit by fifteen clans—there was no way they wouldn’t know about this wanted criminal.
“Let’s see how long you can act tough! You’ll soon find out who will win!” With a cold gaze, Rod snapped. Amidst the excited buzzing of the Dark Dragon, he channeled his combat energy into his arms and the Dark Dragon. His figure began to float, moving swiftly like a white streak. With a sword strike that could shatter the heavens, he charged forward with unstoppable force, stirring up a fierce wind. At this moment, Rod was invincible, giving off an aura of unbreakable strength.
