Chapter 010: Forbidden Magic
Ampere snorted and waved his hand casually, dispelling the rainbow-colored shield in front of him. He stared at Du Fan with a vicious grin and said, “Sassy brat, I’m curious to see how long you can keep talking tough. Don’t worry, after you die, I’ll make sure you understand why I’m called the Master of Forbidden Magic!”
Du Fan responded with a defiant snort, “Wait until you can actually do it before saying that! Master of Forbidden Magic? Nothing more than that!”
Ampere chuckled and said, “You have many magic scrolls—indeed impressive. I admit it. Though I don’t know where you got so many things that allow a kid around level five to act so arrogantly, these are just external aids… not your true strength. External aids may be useful, but they can’t compare to one’s own strength.” His eyes gleamed as he added in a low voice, “How about this, kid? Let’s not fight to the death. At most, I’ll let you go, but with one condition: tell me how you got so many magic scrolls! Otherwise… I’ll make sure you die here today!”
“Die?” Du Fan snorted again and drew out a few more magic scrolls. “Now I feel like death is such a distant possibility for me… Don’t act like you’ve already beaten me. If I’m not mistaken, you’re probably still recovering your magic power and trying to catch your breath. But that’s fine. Our fight just now must have alerted the entire capital. Not to mention Prince Fischer’s men—even the Magic Guild and the Holy Church will send people… By then, Lord Ampere, how many do you think will be on your side? Do you think it will be you or me who dies?”
Ampere gritted his teeth, his face twisted in rage. “Kid, it seems I really owe you thanks! But it doesn’t matter if you refuse. After I kill you and take your soul, I can easily find what I want in your memories!”
As he spoke, Ampere tapped his Sacred Radiance Staff, and several layers of dark clouds appeared in midair. In no time, countless lightning bolts and thunderclaps erupted.
Ampere laughed maniacally and shouted at Du Fan from afar, “Kid! Go die!”
A flash of lightning surged toward Du Fan. The magical shield on his body emitted a shrill noise under the impact, followed by a crisp “ding” sound, and almost simultaneously, both were reduced to powder!
But at that moment, Du Fan had already dodged, for aside from magic, he also possessed combat energy! He was a true master of both magic and combat—something that might seem useless most of the time, but its value was immeasurable in such a situation!
Amper snorted, his Holy Radiance Staff glowing again as another bolt of lightning was sent toward Du Fan. Du Fan dodged once more, and the lightning struck the ground, causing a cloud of dust to rise and leaving a large crater.
Glaring at Du Fan, who had managed to evade him, Amper sneered, “Let’s see how long you can keep dodging!”
Du Fan snorted in response, suddenly expanding his stance and retreating dozens of meters to stay far outside Amper’s attack range. Then he said calmly, “Even if I can dodge, do you have a way to stop me?”
Amper shouted, “Kid, do you want to run? Hmph, go ahead if you want to… I’m sure Prince Fischer won’t last long under Francis’s men. By then, when he’s dead and you’re still alive, you’ll realize just how troublesome your situation will be. That fool Francis is naive, thinking you’re utterly loyal to Prince Fischer, which is why he won’t let you run… I know you’re afraid of getting into trouble if you run. A cunning and scheming scoundrel like you would never just hand over yourself so easily!”
Du Fan’s expression darkened instantly. Staring at Amper, his eyes gleamed with an unusual light as he said, “Old monster, are you forcing me to keep fighting you? The situation is clear now—don’t you understand? You know yourself that you can’t deal with me in the short term. I may not be able to defeat you, but escaping isn’t a problem either… So all I need to do is wait for the Holy Church, the Mage Guild, and Prince Fischer’s men to arrive. How could I possibly fear you? I’m sure the Mage Guild’s enforcement team poses some threat to you, Master Amper, right?”
Each word struck a sore spot in Amper, like a knife scraping at his heart. Especially when he heard “enforcement team,” fear clearly showed on his face. Glaring at Du Fan, he roared, “I’ll kill you first! Then I’ll kill the others! Never forget that! I’m a mage of forbidden spells!”
With that, Ampere swung his Sacred Radiance Staff fiercely. This time, driven by anger, the staff seemed to sense his fury as it burst forth with a burst of multicolored light—far more intense than before, nearly turning half of the sky white as day.
Under this brilliance, Ampere’s hair and beard flew wildly as he laughed maniacally at Du Fan and roared, “Kid! See how you dodge this time!”
Then he looked up at the sky as if begging for something, the multicolored light intensifying in his hands. Purple lightning flashed around him as he stared at Du Fan with overwhelming pressure, shouting, “Turn into dust! Thunderous fury—”
With his cry, it seemed the entire world trembled, with dense thunderstorms in the sky as if ready to crush everything. Countless purple lightning bolts flashed across the sky, like purple dragons, all waiting for the final moment to strike!
Finally, Ampere gently pointed his Sacred Radiance Staff at Du Fan. With that single touch, the purple lightning, as if summoned, gathered together and transformed into a dragon wreathed in electric light, charging toward Du Fan with unstoppable force!
Du Fan gritted his teeth hard—there was no chance to outsmart this situation. His combat energy and magic surged simultaneously, forming a shield that spun around him.
But before he could finish, the purple dragon lunged at him!
Boom—
Du Fan felt a sharp pain throughout his body, numbness spreading everywhere. The electric light ignored his combat energy and magic, attacking straight at his core!
This was the legendary forbidden magic—even surpassing forbidden curse magic!
As Du Fan’s body seemed about to turn to dust under the electric light, suddenly a beam of holy light surged from deep within his consciousness, quickly spreading throughout his body. The purple lightning struck him but dispersed swiftly.
Yet despite this, the repeated strikes left Du Fan nearly unconscious from the pain.
After a long while, the electric light gradually faded. Though his body emitted wisps of smoke, the protection of the holy light kept him unharmed…
Du Fan secretly felt lucky. He guessed that it was likely the Life and Death Bald Head technique at work, with his divine essence and the remaining angelic power inside him playing a role; otherwise, he wouldn’t be able to stay here at all right now. Du Fan’s expression turned extremely grim. With his strong mental power, he had already realized the power of that move. If it weren’t for his divine essence and angelic power, not to mention being only at level five, even if he were at the peak of level nine, he would likely have died in a mysterious manner! Without hesitation, Du Fan quickly threw several wind shields behind him and dashed into the forest below! Seeing Du Fan run into the forest as if nothing had happened, Ampere roared, “Impossible! How could you possibly block that move!!!” After saying that, Ampere’s face turned extremely pale, as if his skin might vanish!! Once in the jungle, Du Fan knew that facing that move head-on would be fatal. But with no way to escape, he could only temporarily hide behind a large tree. As soon as he stabilized himself, Ampere calmed down. After using the Thunderous Fury technique, he seemed somewhat weakened, but he still pointed his Sacred Radiance Staff in Du Fan’s direction. Instantly, over a dozen bolts of lightning struck, creating several large black holes in the forest, and countless trees around were burned to ashes! Birds and animals flew out of the forest, seemingly sensing the arrival of doom! But as soon as they left the forest, they were turned to dust by the lightning, and the beasts that emerged outside the forest also instantly turned into charcoal! “Dear Du Fan, do you really think you can escape just by hiding in the forest?” Ampere sneered amid the thunderstorm. “Although I don’t know how you managed to dodge my last move, it’s useless. I can kill you anytime… You should know… it would take me only an instant to destroy this entire forest… But since this is a game, ending it like this is a bit too abrupt. So let me think of the best way to send you on your way!”
