Chapter 013: I Will Definitely Return
Du Fan gave Spalitis another gentle smile. Slowly, he reached out and grabbed another lightsaber from thin air, then said in a low voice, “Lord Spalitis, I’m sure you understand that a Saint-level powerhouse who cannot control the rules of the Saint realm is ultimately just at the peak of Level 9… If I had less than 10% chance of winning against you just now, what about now? Lord Spalitis, what percentage do you think your chances are?”
“Huh—”
Spalitis’s expression gradually returned to normal. He raised his Desire Angel Battle Spear forward, accompanied by a howling sound. Staring at Du Fan, he said coldly, “I originally thought you had some merit, but it seems you truly don’t know your place! Wretched human, do you really think what you’ve glimpsed is the essence of Saint-level power? You… don’t even have that strength yet!”
“Well… who knows?”
As soon as he finished speaking, Du Fan struck first. With a slight swing of his lightsaber, he rushed at Spalitis like a phantom.
Seeing Du Fan vanish from sight without a word, Spalitis was shocked—after all, he was a true Saint-level angel. Though his strength had diminished greatly, his vision remained sharp. Under such circumstances, it would be nearly impossible to escape his sight using ordinary invisibility spells or ultra-fast movement. The only possibility of evading his gaze was that this insignificant human had mastered Saint-level power in such a short time, allowing him to manipulate the spatial rules around him to disrupt Spalitis’s vision!
But breaking through to the Saint realm in less than a moment? How could that be possible?
Witnessing this, Spalitis didn’t dare hesitate any longer. A radiant glow of holiness surged around his Desire Angel Battle Spear. With a strong push from both hands, he swung the spear forward!
But in the next instant, a low sigh seemed to ring in his ears.
“Respected Lord Spalitis… could you put down what you’re holding?”
“Could you put down what you’re holding?”
“Put it down?”
“Put it down…?”
Spalitis’s movements froze abruptly. A strange feeling surged in his mind—as if he couldn’t do anything unless he followed the voice’s commands.
But after just that brief pause, Spalitis suddenly felt a chill in his chest. He sensed a coldness spreading through his body. This mighty Angel Lord realized what had happened almost instantly.
He slowly lowered his head and saw a small tip of a spear protruding from his chest, covered in pale golden blood. His heart, which should have been beating, had been pierced through…
A indifferent voice came through…
“Respected Lord Spalitis, see? Isn’t this move quite amusing?”
Du Fan turned around from behind Spalitis, smiling. His hands were covered in pale golden blood, which he was carefully wiping away with a white cloth. When he saw Spalitis’s shocked expression, he couldn’t help but smirk and say, “Sure enough, you’re not human. Even your blood is so disgusting.”
Spalitis let out a heart-wrenching scream. His cry was agonizing, like that of someone in tears. The Angel Lord trembled violently, seemingly unable to stand firm. Stumbling, he roared at Du Fan, “Impossible! How could you bypass my vision? How could you obtain the Desire Angel Battle Spear? How… how could you do this to me…?”
At that moment, Spalitis opened his mouth and spat out a mouthful of blood. The holy light around him began to fade slowly, and even the holy wings on his back dimmed bit by bit!
Du Fan finally cleaned the blood from his hands. He looked down at Spalitis and said softly, “Angel Lord, what’s impossible about this? You see, what I used just now is called Word Spirit. With your wisdom, I’m sure you’ve heard of such a technique before. If you were still at the Saint level, it would be useless to you. But you’ve already lost the power of the Saint level… So, it’s not difficult for me to make you hesitate even for a second, take away your Desire Angel Battle Spear from you, and pierce your chest.”
“No… impossible… You’re just a human… How is this possible…?”
Spalitis suddenly raised his head. Ignoring the blood flowing from his chest, he stared intently at Du Fan and shouted, “Could it be… could it be… you’re not just at the Saint level… Human… How did you do this!”
Du Fan clapped his hands and said, “Honorable Angel Lord… please don’t overthink things. You will lose to me simply because of your arrogance and ambition. If only you had been a little more careful, I might have died a thousand times by now. See… I’ve never been your match, not now, not in the past… As for the future… I don’t know.”
“Well, Lord Spalitis, I’m different from you. I’m more cautious in my actions. I certainly don’t want my head torn off by you later. To avoid that, I have no choice but to send you back to the Lord’s embrace, right?”
As he spoke, Du Fan slowly grasped one end of the Angel of Desire Battle Spear and pulled hard. The spear pierced through Spalitis’s chest. Spalitis spat out more blood with a cry, but he no longer had the strength to stand.
Du Fan gently rotated the Angel of Desire Battle Spear in his hand. Under the burning combat energy, the spear’s tip transformed into a giant holy cross. Du Fan smiled lightly and said, “Lord Spalitis, dying under the judgment of your own spear—your life wasn’t entirely in vain! Don’t you think?”
With that, he nudged the spear slightly, aiming it straight at Spalitis’s forehead.
Spalitis’s face turned deathly pale. He let out a fierce roar, “This is impossible! Humans… I, Spalitis, will not perish like this! I will return… I will come back…”
As soon as he finished speaking, there was a “pop” sound. Spalitis’s perfectly formed body suddenly exploded into powder. At the center of the powder, a fist-sized golden light, accompanied by a mournful cry, shot upward into space.
Du Fan frowned at that light and suddenly smiled bitterly. “If I’m not mistaken, that’s an angel’s soul, right? How ridiculous… But since I’ve already started, Lord Spalitis, do you really think I’ll hold back? To prevent you from causing me trouble in the future, I have no choice but to do this.”
As he spoke, Du Fan weighed the Desire Angel Battle Spear in his hand. His combat energy burned fiercely, enveloping the spear in a massive glow. Holding that glow in his hand, Du Fan gently threw it—the spear streaked through the sky like a meteor and effortlessly caught up with the mass of light and shadow that was Spalitis. Strangely, despite clearly seeing that mass of light and shadow, Spalitis still crashed into it, as if Du Fan had already predicted his escape route!
This was the power of the Eye of Truth—premonition!
Soon after, a shrill scream was heard, a piercing wail that came from afar, followed by a burning mass of light and shadow falling from the sky.
Watching this scene, Du Fan suddenly let out a low sigh. An angel… Hmph… an angel…
He had actually defeated an angel… Six months ago, such a thing was beyond even imagining…
Du Fan took a deep breath, about to say something, but suddenly frowned and sighed again.
A bone-chilling sensation touched his skin. He instinctively shuddered, then said calmly, “Lord Gannon, Lord Toronus, what does this mean? If my guess is right… you still held back against me?”
Gannon’s emotionless voice came from behind Du Fan, “Young Master Du Fan is truly extraordinary. I originally thought that even if you obtained my Angel Power and managed to inflict equal damage on Spalitis, that would already be good enough… But I never expected you to be able to defeat Spalitis… It seems that over the years, Spalitis has also degenerated…”
Du Fan sneered and said, “Even if he hadn’t degenerated, this Lord Spalitis probably wouldn’t be a match for you, Lord Toronus, right? But Lord Toronus, you’ve pushed me to the brink, forcing me to defeat Spalitis. So what do you plan to force me to do now?”
Gannon replied indifferently, “We’ll discuss that later… For now, I need Young Master Du Fan to return my Angel Power… Otherwise, I still wouldn’t be a match for you!”
Du Fan frowned slightly but remained silent.
Gannon laughed and said, “Young Master Du Fan, you must absolutely not act rashly. All the combat energy in your body, aside from that little bit that belongs to you, what’s left isn’t mine? Do you think I’d get hurt by my own Angelic Power? That’s utterly ridiculous! So it’s best if you just stand still and don’t move! I still have many things to do, and of course, I need your help with them… Young Master Du Fan, you should know that I’m not someone who likes to kill, but… I can’t guarantee that I won’t kill!”
