Chapter 008: Desire
Sparitis slightly raised the Desire Angel Battle Spear in his hand. He stared at the Sphinx, a smirk playing on his lips. “Who ends up in hell? Is it decided just by words?”
The Desire Angel Battle Spear tapped lightly in the void. Sparitis glanced at the magical beasts around him, sighed, and murmured, “If the gods grieve, heaven will punish…”
As soon as he finished speaking, Sparitis took a slow step forward. Yet with that single step, he suddenly appeared behind the Sphinx. In that instant, the distance between them seemed to vanish entirely.
Sparitis sighed. “Look… Sphinx, you can’t even predict my next move. Do you really think you can defeat me? If it weren’t for fearing that Toronus might have some tricks up his sleeve, would I need to waste so much time talking to you to conserve my strength? Sphinx, you’re seeking your own death. Remember this—don’t blame anyone else!”
The Sphinx was shocked and turned sharply. “Sparitis… you…”
Before she could finish, Sparitis paused again. This time, he appeared above the Sphinx’s head. The Desire Angel Battle Spear in his hand was covered in purple lightning. As if playing around, he gently pointed the spear downward—so slowly, so casually, as if it were unintentional…
Yet beneath that mere gesture, the entire space trembled violently. Purple lightning lashed out like threads, falling like a dense rainstorm. With that light touch, the lightning shot out violently. Every awakened demon god except the Sphinx was reduced to ashes in an instant, not even having time to scream.
The Sphinx beneath Sparitis paled greatly, but before it could say anything else, Sparitis swung his Pitfall Angel Battle Spear. With a sharp sound, a bloodline appeared between the Sphinx’s eyebrows, followed by its neck, body, and limbs…
In less than a second, the Sphinx’s massive body was split in two, collapsing in a pool of blood—utterly devoid of its former might.
Sparitis slowly descended to the ground, holding the Desire Angel Battle Spear casually in his hand. He no longer looked at the corpse on the ground but let out a low sigh, more blood trickling from the corner of his mouth.
Obviously, that seemingly casual battle just now had far from a light burden on this Angel Lord.
Sparitis wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, then waved his hand lightly—immediately a gust of wind swept through, blowing the corpses on the platform away and dropping them into the bottomless abyss below.
He sighed and slowly turned his gaze away, once again focusing on the Demon God Temple before him.
The Demon God Temple in the center of the platform remained exactly as it had been millions of years ago. Entirely built of ivory-white marble, it featured ninety-nine steps at its entrance, flanked by twenty-four massive marble columns covered in various runes. Sparitis knew those represented the angels serving under the Demon God Lord.
At the top of the temple stood a statue—though now only half remaining, its graceful curves of the Demon God Lord could still be seen. The statue had been damaged during the ancient wars, but its scars were still evident. The soft light emanating from it still enveloped the entire Demon God Temple, like eternal sunlight.
Sparitis stared at everything before him, knowing his goal was within reach! The Demon God Lord! That once supreme woman! That deity who disregarded all living beings! She was lying inside the Demon God Temple right now!
He suddenly felt his whole body heat up, his lips becoming strangely dry. This feeling, as an Angel of Desire, he had experienced countless times before, but never with such intensity as now!
“You’re just a deity!” Sparitis murmured. “But you’re still a woman! As long as it’s a woman… she can never escape the grasp of Lord Sparitis! I am the Angel of Desire!”
A beautiful smile appeared on Sparitis’s lips as he took a step forward, his purpose clear.
As he approached the Demon God Temple, the surroundings grew increasingly familiar. Long ago, tens of thousands of years prior, Sparitis had already known every detail of this place. He closed his eyes for a moment, recalling that he should enter through the main door of the temple, with angelic gardens on both sides. Inside the main hall lay the Demon God Lord’s residence, bathroom, bedroom…
And of course, it was also her prison now!
Sparitis had witnessed how the Demon God Lord was sealed away—inside that stone coffin in the bedroom lay the source of his own desires!
His smile grew even more radiant!
He took a sudden step forward, realizing he couldn’t wait another minute. That damned place was already filled with desire… all those ten thousand years of longing!
“Knock—”
Sparitis collided with something, flying backward several steps. Fortunately, an Angel’s body was incredibly strong, so he wasn’t seriously injured this time.
Sparitis frowned and stared at what lay before him. After a moment, he let out a low laugh and said, “So that’s how it is. Even though you’re sealed away, Lord Demon God, you can still use your divine power to protect your Demon God Temple? But what’s the use of that? If your strength remained the same, I would indeed fear you. But now you’re as weak as a child. Do you really think those low-grade Crystal Walls can stop me?”
Sparitis raised the Desire Angel Battle Spear in his hand. The angelic power within him surged like a swirling vortex, and black flames erupted from the spear, which emitted holy light!
Sparitis sneered as he raised the spear, ready to swing it forward with force…
……
“Why have you aged so much?”
Du Fan stared at Gannon, his face filled with confusion.
At first, he hadn’t noticed anything strange about Gannon, but after testing his own abilities, he inadvertently saw Gannon’s aged face.
Although Gannon now appeared to have aged dozens of years overnight, his expression remained calm. He simply looked at Du Fan, sighed softly, and said, “After all, this body is human. Though I’ve managed to stay almost immortal through my strength over these thirty years, I’ve now lost my angelic power. Aside from my soul, nothing about me can be called angelic anymore! Naturally, the passage of time will take its toll again. What’s so strange about that? But don’t worry—I have a sense that I won’t die anytime soon. You don’t have to worry that I’ll die halfway through speaking.”
Du Fan wasn’t surprised that Gannon had read his thoughts. After all, their relationship had always been strange—once enemies, now collaborators. The saying that there are no absolute enemies or friends only absolute interests held true here as well.
His gaze shifted away from Gannon, and he said calmly, “Alright, what should I do now?”
Gannon replied indifferently, “Use your True Eye to scan everything in this space, then try slashing at places that seem strange. Since this is a spatial rift, it can’t possibly be stable. As long as we find an unstable spot and cut through it, we can return to the Roland Continent.”
Du Fan stopped wasting words. He closed his eyes and slowly opened them again, his gaze becoming utterly vacant. He glanced at Gannon tentatively, only to find countless chaotic images flooding his mind!
Gannon’s calm voice rang out, “Although the Eye of Truth can see through the past and future, your mental strength is quite weak. Though it’s much better than that of ordinary people, you’re unable to cope with the backlash from dealing with such things. Young Master Du Fan, I give you advice: until you reach the Saint level, it’s best not to use the Eye of Truth recklessly. Looking at other things is fine, but if you try to see through others’ pasts and futures, there will definitely be no good outcome.”
Du Fan’s heart tightened. He didn’t dare look at Gannon or Ringtone anymore. His eyes scanned around, and after a moment, he sighed and said, “I don’t see anything unusual… But… that’s not right. What’s that?”
Du Fan pointed at a crack that appeared in the distance, at a loss for words.
Gannon’s face lit up with joy. “Hurry! For some reason, Spalitis has used the power of the Fang of the Abyss again. This is a one-time chance. If we don’t go now, we might never get another opportunity!”
Without hesitation, Du Fan pressed his fingers together and thrust them sharply toward that spot. A fierce, moon-shaped bolt of lightning shot out, and with a loud “whoosh,” the crack widened dozens of times over.
Looking through the crack, they saw a majestic divine palace—none other than the Demon God Temple!
Du Fan waved his hand slightly. Holding Ringtone in one hand and Gannon in the other, the three of them leaped lightly into the spatial rift. The crack disappeared behind them, leaving only endless darkness in the Abyssal Sea…
