Chapter 001: Sacred Realm
Sbalitis snorted and said, “Compared to Lord Toronus, what does it matter if I, Sbalitis, already possess a Sacred Realm? In your eyes, I’m probably nothing but that, right?”
Gannon seemed to frown briefly before suddenly smiling lightly and saying, “Interesting, very interesting. When we angels first descended, our ranks were already determined. You are an Angel of Desire, so it’s already remarkable that you’ve reached the Sacred level. But I never expected that after coming to the human world, you’d still be able to make further progress. Truly fascinating! If I’m not mistaken, this move of yours must also be something you’ve figured out on your own. With this move, you can seemingly alter the laws of space and time. No matter what I do, I’ll never be able to get even a fraction closer to you—whether I take a step forward or back, the distance between us remains unchanged… This move is indeed interesting!”
Sbalitis sneered, “But this move is probably not even worthy of Lord Toronus’s attention, is it?”
Gannon chuckled lightly and said, “You do have some self-awareness. I mastered the Sacred Realm thousands of years ago. Even though my body is human now, can’t I still control a Sacred Realm?”
Sbalitis nodded slightly and said, “Lord Toronus is right about that. But do you really think I’ll give you that time? I’m sorry, Lord Toronus… For the Supreme Priest, I can only send you to hell!”
At that moment, he paused, a hint of coldness in his eyes, before suddenly saying coldly, “May the gods grieve! May heaven’s wrath descend!”
As soon as he finished speaking, the light around them vanished instantly. Thick clouds seemed to gather over the vast mountains and snow-covered lands, accompanied by thunderous booms. Countless purple lightning bolts, like giant dragons, rushed toward Gannon from all directions.
Seeing this, Gannon’s expression changed slightly, and he couldn’t help but say, “So you can already control everything within your Sacred Realm? No, after all, a Sacred Realm isn’t a true realm—it’s merely a pseudo-realm. At most, you can use only a part of it…”
At that point, Gannon seemed to suddenly remember something and burst into laughter. “Ah! Right! Sbalitis, I almost forgot. You practiced lightning magic back in heaven. Now, using your own magical essence, you can naturally summon lightning within your Sacred Realm. It seems you really haven’t disappointed me! But…”
As he spoke, Gannon paused for a moment. “You truly haven’t disappointed me. The only one who’s worthy of blocking my path to Toronus is you… But since you haven’t disappointed me, how could I disappoint you?”
Seeing the massive, intertwined lightning approaching in an instant, Gannon smiled faintly and said, “Sparitis… Then let you also witness properly the sacred realm belonging to me, Sparitis!”
As soon as he finished speaking, Gannon turned his Demon God Axe slightly. Facing those countless purple lightning bolts, his face showed a faint smile, devoid of any fierce expression, as if he had now become an utterly holy angel.
He raised his Demon God Axe high, murmured a word, and shouted, “Break!”
“Break!”
“Break!!”
“Break!!!”
A blinding light burst forth from his axe. That light was sharp, as if capable of cutting through heaven and earth. The pair of light wings behind him flickered continuously, growing larger and larger with each swing, until eventually, even the fine patterns on the wings could be seen with the naked eye.
That gentle swing met the incoming purple lightning. Those lightning bolts, which seemed to cover the entire sky, were cut apart like cheese sliced by a red-hot knife. There was no earth-shaking impact, no thunderous noise, no grand display, no overwhelming power…
Yet those countless purple lightning bolts, along with the space they occupied, slowly disappeared with that swing. Although lightning and space still existed elsewhere, the area where the swing landed had returned to normal.
Sparitis’ face turned pale. He opened his mouth and spat out a mouthful of pale golden blood, his expression becoming extremely ugly. Seeing that swing about to break through his sacred realm, his wings flapped violently. His Desire Angel Spear in his left hand weakened, and a ball of light rushed toward Gannon. At the same time, his right hand continued to manipulate the surrounding space—Sparitis tried to summon a temporal storm to devour Gannon on the spot!
But it was useless. Everything was useless…
Gannon’s slash had fully landed. With that slash, he took a light step forward, as if leaving behind the sacred realm created by Spalitis. Instantly, all the light around them vanished, and everything returned to its original state. Spalitis stood frozen in midair, holding his Angel of Desire spear in shock.
Looking outside again, everything had disappeared—the sky was still the sky, the earth was still the earth…
Yet Gannon’s left hand was already pressed against Spalitis’s neck, his thumb’s nail gently sliding along Spalitis’s Adam’s apple. He smiled slightly and said, “Look… Lord Spalitis… are you disappointed?”
Du Fan sat by the stone door, watching the two angelic lords fight. Aside from feeling terrified, he had also reached a realization.
It was different from their previous battles. Back then, they relied solely on strength—whether it was combat energy, magic, or even divine power—to confront each other. But clearly, such a level of confrontation was probably just a test of the opponent’s strength for those at the sacred rank!
It was only after they both used their so-called sacred realms that they truly started fighting!
According to Du Fan’s understanding, a sacred realm was a combat technique that only a strong warrior who had reached the sacred rank could comprehend.
Unlike the mere “quantity” of power above the sacred rank, what the sacred rank pursued was “quality” of power… But after reaching the sacred rank, everyone’s understanding of that power, or rather, the rules governing it, was completely different.
For example, Spalitis’s sacred realm seemed to be based on an understanding of the laws of space and time, allowing him to use the power and rules of the sacred rank to recreate a world of his own. Within that world, supernatural forces like wind, rain, thunder, and lightning would likely be under his control… Anyone else who fell into his sacred realm, without a way to counter it, would probably be destroyed by those supernatural forces…
But Gannon was different. His sacred realm wasn’t like Spalitis’s creation; it seemed to be pure destruction… In other words, any space or power created would likely vanish silently under his destructive force. Although he couldn’t create a space to imprison enemies, this destructive ability could destroy any space created by an enemy…
In other words, one of these two is a creator and the other a destroyer. When their powers are equal, destruction is naturally easier than creation. So, it makes sense that Spalitis would lose in this confrontation between saints!
But what will Gannon do next?
His hand!
Gannon’s hand!
Gannon’s hand gently rested on Spalitis’s throat…
But in truth, everyone present knew that if Gannon wanted to, he could crush Spalitis’s seemingly incredibly strong throat at any moment!
Spalitis’s pupils constricted as he stared at the arm resting on his throat. With a deep sigh, filled with endless desolation, he murmured, “I… have still lost…”
Gannon’s face was also pale, with a trace of blood at the corners of his mouth. In a hoarse voice, he said, “You know you’ve lost… Although I barely managed to summon the Wings of Holy Light and used a saintly domain with my human frail body… now that I’ve reached this level, even though my human body can’t hold out long, it’s not difficult to twist off your head and free the Demon God… Spalitis, do you regret it now?”
“Regret? Regret what?” Spalitis sighed deeply.
Gannon sneered and said, “What else? Naturally, it’s about what happened back then. If you could repent now and return to the Demon God’s side, I might give you a chance to atone before him. But if you refuse…”
Gannon didn’t finish his sentence, but everyone understood what he meant!
Spalitis smiled weakly and said, “Lord Toronus has gone to such lengths… still trying to find another servant for the Demon God? Oh, I forgot… among the angels who once served the Demon God, aside from me, the traitor, there’s only you… Hahaha… Even if you manage to free the Demon God, what good will that do? How can you resist the brilliance of the gods of the heavens?”
“What are you saying!” Gannon roared. He tightened his grip, and the veins on Spalitis’s face swelled. “Do you still remain so stubborn at this moment?”
