Chapter 0009: Sacred Magical Beasts
The Magical Beast Mountains are one of the forbidden zones for humans on the Hengyuan Continent—a realm ruled by magical beasts.
Within these mountains live countless magical beasts of all ranks, from first-tier Pig Gong Beasts to sacred-tier beasts, and even the legendary divine-tier beasts.
Spanning hundreds of thousands of miles across the Hengyuan Continent, the Magical Beast Mountains border dozens of countries there.
For Huang Long and his group to travel from the Kingdom of Lutong to the Blizzard Empire, they had to pass through the neighboring Kingdom of Mara before approaching the Blizzard Empire’s borders after traveling tens of thousands of miles along the edge of the mountains.
However, since they all rode sixth-tier magical beasts called Gale Beasts, their journey was fast. Three days later, they crossed the Kingdom of Mara and reached the edge of the Magical Beast Mountains.
Gale Beasts resembled warhorses but had a horn on their heads and thicker legs. Initially, Zhao Rong wanted her son to ride the same beast as her, but seeing that he insisted on riding alone and that his Gale Beast was extremely obedient, she gave up and let him do as he wished.
This son had always preferred to act on his own since childhood and disliked being restricted; Zhao Rong was helpless against him.
As they traveled along the edge of the Magical Beast Mountains, they occasionally encountered mercenaries who entered the mountains to hunt magical beasts. These mercenaries were outlaws who, aside from hunting beasts, often engaged in murder and robbery. Seeing that Huang Long’s group consisted of only a few dozen people, they thought they were easy targets. But when Huang Long’s group demonstrated their overwhelming strength and killed an entire mercenary group of over 200 people, those mercenaries lost all desire to attack.
Money was important, but life was even more so.
The Huang family was one of the four major families in the Kingdom of Lutong. With Zhao Rong, the matriarch, and the young master traveling, they naturally had a strong escort force. Although there were only a few dozen guards, all of them were at level seven or above, including two level nine warriors, a level nine mage, and a level nine fighter.
With such strength, how could those mercenary groups dare to provoke them?
Without any interference, Huang Long’s group continued their rapid journey. When night fell, they found a place at the foot of the mountain to camp.
At night, under the bright moon, most people slept except for a few guards. But inside the tent, Huang Long couldn’t fall asleep. It was a rare chance to be out, and now they were at the edge of the Magical Beast Mountains—how could he miss such an opportunity?
Sending out his spiritual sense to confirm that his mother Zhao Rong was asleep, Huang Long used Earthdisappear to disappear from the tent.
Beneath the ground, Huang Long rushed toward the heart of the Magical Beast Mountains.
After unknown lengths of time, Huang Long suddenly sensed powerful energy fluctuations approaching ahead. This formidable force was countless times stronger even than that of a ninth-level warrior.
Sacred Realm magical beasts!
This thought flashed through Huang Long’s mind, causing him slight surprise. He then accelerated and rushed to the edge of the energy fluctuations, emerging from beneath the ground and standing ten meters in the air. There, he saw two Sacred Realm magical beasts fighting each other.
One was a magical beast thirty to forty meters long, as big as a mountain, resembling a lizard from the Pangu World. Unlike the Pangu World lizards, it had a tail over ten meters long, sharp and pointed like a scorpion’s tail. The other was a giant monkey over ten meters tall, with dark golden eyes and extremely thick arms, reminding Huang Long of Sun Wukong, one of the Four Great Monkeys from the Pangu World.
Huang Long recalled the magical beasts he knew about this world and identified the origins of the two beasts: one was called the Cave Dragon, and the other the Golden-Eyed Purple Ape.
The Cave Dragon belonged to a branch of the dragon race, classified as a sub-dragon. It was a seventh-level magical beast at birth but could only grow up to ninth level at most. In contrast, the Golden-Eyed Purple Ape was an ancient exotic species, just like the Golden Sacred Dragon, the king of the dragon race, which was also ninth level at birth.
Huang Long wasn’t surprised that the Golden-Eyed Purple Ape could evolve into a Sacred Realm magical beast, but he was puzzled that this Cave Dragon could do the same.
Upon closer inspection, Huang Long noticed that this Cave Dragon differed from others—on its forehead, it had two horns, though not very prominent, but definitely there. In his past life, Huang Long had been one of the nine great dragon gods of the Pangu World, so he naturally recognized them as dragon horns.
It seemed this Cave Dragon had undergone some extraordinary transformation due to a unique encounter, allowing it to evolve into a Sacred Realm being, Huang Long thought.
The Cave Dragon was an earth-type magical beast with extremely strong physical defense and power. The Golden-Eyed Purple Ape, on the other hand, was a fire and gold-type magical beast, its strength no less than that of the Cave Dragon.
The two Sacred Realm magical beasts fought in mid-air, roaring incessantly.
From time to time, hundreds of huge stones plummeted from the sky like a rainstorm, crashing onto the ground and causing it to shake and crack. This was the earth-type forbidden spell, Stone Rain.
Two beams of golden light hundreds of meters long sliced through the air, cutting all the surrounding mountains flat, as if polished by a blade. This was the gold-type forbidden spell, Golden Blade Slash.
With mountains collapsing, rocks crashing, golden blades slashing, and seas of fire raging, within dozens of miles around the two Sacred Realm beasts, peaks toppled, ancient trees were either uprooted, reduced to powder, or turned to ashes.
Sand and debris flew everywhere, leaving a devastated landscape!
Within hundreds or even thousands of miles, other eighth- and ninth-level monsters trembled in fear, lying on the ground in terror, afraid that those two powerful beings would spread the battle to their territory. Even the Yellow Dragon was amazed by the destructive power of those two Sacred Beasts. Although for its past self, this was merely a trivial fight, it was now infinitely more powerful. The Yellow Dragon estimated that the strength of those two Sacred Beasts was equivalent to that of cultivators in the Soul Departure stage. The battle lasted for over two hours, becoming increasingly fierce. After that time, the flames of battle from those two Sacred Beast monsters had spread over six hundred miles, reaching a critical point. In the air, the Cave Dragon was at a disadvantage, while the Golden-Eyed Ape was gaining ground; on the ground, however, the Cave Dragon had the upper hand, forcing the Golden-Eyed Purple Ape to retreat step by step. After over two hours, neither of the two Sacred Beast monsters could be declared the winner. Yet both were severely injured—the Cave Dragon’s golden wings could no longer move, and half of its mountain-sized body was charred, emitting a foul smell of flesh. The Golden-Eyed Purple Ape wasn’t much better either; its purple fur was almost entirely covered in golden blood, and one of its massive arms was torn apart, covered in blood and flesh. The Yellow Dragon remained hidden nearby, silent. What puzzled it was why those two Sacred Beast monsters were fighting so desperately. However, the battle didn’t continue long. Half an hour later, after both monsters let out a roar and unleashed their ultimate attacks, they collapsed simultaneously. Two loud explosions shook the ground, and everything returned to calm, leaving only the faint breathing sounds of the two Sacred Beast monsters. The Yellow Dragon appeared suddenly, looking at the two barely alive monsters lying on the ground. Frowning, it realized that these giants had used their magic spells and forbidden techniques to the extreme, and their life forces were slowly fading. If no help was given, they would remain there forever. The two Sacred Beast monsters, lying there, were startled by the appearance of a human child and lifted their eyes slightly. This was the heart of the Monster Mountains—how could a human child be here? Though puzzled, they had no time to wonder how the child had arrived, as they felt their own life forces draining away, filled with regret. “I can save you,” they said. But to their surprise, the human child uttered such a ridiculous and laughable statement.
