Chapter 591: Crisis Temporarily Resolved
Pearl’s interrogation techniques were indeed top-notch; it didn’t take long for her to extract all the necessary information through relentless questioning. Although Ye Feng and the others had no idea how she did it—she never allowed anyone else to be present during each interrogation—they weren’t particularly interested in observing such things anyway. As long as they could obtain information valuable to them, that was sufficient.
From the recordings of the interrogations, Ye Feng and the others finally understood why only one ship had arrived.
“If we don’t hear anything within three days, suspend the attack temporarily…” Ye Feng was puzzled. “Why temporarily?”
“I don’t know, but at least for now, nothing bad should happen in the Holy Realm, right?” Long Tian also had no clue.
Meanwhile, in the Star Realm, another group was anxiously waiting for news.
After watching the airship depart, Zhuge Xiu sat calmly in place, closed his eyes, and waited patiently.
Two hours later, he slowly opened his eyes, a barely noticeable hint of joy flashing in his gaze. After checking his communicator, he left.
Zhuge Xiu knew very well that no messages would come back—traveling through that wormhole took just one hour. And if, after another hour on the other side of the wormhole, there was still no message, it meant no further messages would arrive.
He didn’t rush to report this to Asura but instead returned to his residence at a leisurely pace. He knew full well that with Ye Feng and the others’ current strength, they were far from capable of challenging Asura. Every day he could buy them time increased their chances of success.
As expected, three days passed without any news from the Holy Realm. Only then did Zhuge Xiu leave his residence and head straight for Asura’s palace.
Asura’s palace was a pinnacle-level spiritual treasure, ranking among the top three in terms of defensive strength in the entire Star Realm. Even if attacked by a pseudo-void-level offensive spiritual treasure, the palace could withstand the assault for a whole day and night. His fear of Tianjian Gu Tianan stemmed from the fact that Gu Tianan wielded a pseudo-void-level sword. Although the palace could endure a day or two of continuous attacks, if truly trapped by him, it would likely turn into scrap metal in just a few days—a scenario he certainly didn’t want to see.
Zhuge Xiu entered the palace directly. In fact, the guards in this palace were merely for show and had little real purpose. Seeing Zhuge Xiu, they didn’t try to stop him but instead respectfully called out “Lord Zhuge.”
“Old man, any good news?” Asura was naked, embracing a woman; it was obvious they were having sex. He continued his movements without pause, nor did he intend to stop. He glared coldly at Zhuge Xiu, who stood nearby with his head bowed.
“Lord, still no news has come through,” Zhuge Xiu said calmly, still not looking up, as if he had seen such scenes many times before. “It’s been three days already…”
Suddenly, a crackling sound of bones breaking was heard, and the woman’s breathing stopped abruptly. Zhuge Xiu immediately knew what had happened.
Asura threw the woman, whose neck had been broken, aside like trash. In the next moment, he appeared in front of Zhuge Xiu and grabbed his neck with one hand.
“You can’t even handle such a simple task. There’s no point keeping you around…” Asura’s grip grew stronger. Zhuge Xiu, who had initially planned to plead, slowly closed his eyes.
“Get lost!” At the last moment, Asura suddenly remembered what Gu Tianan had once said and finally stopped, throwing him away.
Unprepared, Zhuge Xiu rolled several times on the ground before slowly getting up. Leaning on his crutch, he limped away, but Asura called out to him again. “Come back!”
He turned around, hunched over, and limped toward Asura. “Lord.”
“Divine for me—find out what kind of mysteries exist in this inferior realm.” These words stunned Zhuge Xiu.
“Lord, I haven’t used divination techniques in years. I’m quite rusty at it, and even if I do divine something, it may not be accurate…” Of course, Zhuge Xiu didn’t want to perform divination for Asura. If Asura found out about Ye Feng, he would surely try to get rid of him, and Zhuge Xiu himself might also be implicated.
“Stop talking nonsense. If I tell you to do it, you do it.” Asura cut off Zhuge Xiu’s further excuses.
“But I don’t have the tools for divination either…” Zhuge Xiu glanced secretly at Asura and saw that he didn’t seem to be testing him but truly wanted him to perform the divination.
“You two, go get the tools for divination. The one who returns late will die!” Asura looked at the two guards nearby, who immediately rushed out of the palace.
Before long, the divination tools were purchased. The man behind them turned into a pool of blood just a few breaths later. Zhuge Xiu calmly took the set of tools and began divining with unskilled hands. Watching his clumsy attempts, Xiula couldn’t help but sneer and impatiently put on some clothes before sitting aside to wait. After a while, the results of the divination finally came out. Zhuge Xiu frowned slightly as he studied the divination symbols, lost in thought. “Is there a result?” Xiula, though unaware of the details, couldn’t help but ask when he saw Zhuge Xiu stop moving and appear deep in thought. “These symbols indicate that that lower-tier dimension is a place of great misfortune,” Zhuge Xiu nodded. “But my cultivation is limited, so I can’t see more information or figure out exactly why it’s so dangerous or where the danger lies…” In fact, Zhuge Xiu could see it clearly—he had already conducted related divinations days earlier, but now there were new developments. He could see that Ye Feng and the others’ cultivation had improved, but the danger was also increasing. Zhuge Xiu’s words made Xiula ponder as well. He wondered if the “place of great misfortune” Zhuge Xiu had identified referred to the same lower-tier dimension that Xuanji Zi had predicted years ago. But Xuanji Zi hadn’t shared his prophecy with anyone, so naturally he wouldn’t reveal it to Zhuge Xiu, whose cultivation he considered rather weak. “As I understand it, such a place of great misfortune can be avoided simply by staying away from it. Since it’s an inanimate object, as long as you don’t provoke it, there’s no danger. It’s not specifically targeted at you,” Zhuge Xiu explained. “Can it really be avoided by not provoking it?” Xiula was skeptical. “My cultivation in the Xuanmen sect isn’t deep, but that’s how I understand it. I remember when I first joined the Tianji Sect, I saw a book about various objects of great misfortune. It mentioned an especially inauspicious object—whomever touches it will suffer bad luck for three years, and even the most accomplished monks can’t resolve it. But if no one touches it, no one will suffer. The so-called ‘place of great misfortune’ refers only to this lower-tier dimension, not to something that’s specifically harmful to one person,” Zhuge Xiu explained. Xiula finally understood. “So it’s just such an inauspicious object. Then I don’t want it either. Let whoever wants it have it. Once my father comes out of seclusion, I’ll ask him thoroughly about such objects of great misfortune.”
Zhuge Xiu felt relieved upon hearing the first part, but his heart pounded violently when he heard the rest. He had never met the father mentioned by Xiu Luo; he only knew he was a powerful being from the intermediate main plane. However, he had no idea just how strong he was, nor did he know if the other party understood the mystic arts. If so, he would die a horrible death once Xiu Luo discovered he had lied.
