Chapter 269: The Destroyed Seal
“Boss, you’re finally out!” As soon as Ye Feng appeared, Xiao Yu and Xiao Bei rushed over.
“You were blocked by that black dragon just now—how did you get away?” Su Mo asked curiously. “That’s a being at the Absolute Immortal level!”
“I gave it a treasure, so it let me go!” Ye Feng smiled. Only he knew that what he left for Naisario was indeed a priceless gift.
“What treasure?” This time, it was Bernard who asked. He believed anything that could captivate that black dragon must be something extraordinary.
“I gave it a female dragon. Do you want a female bear too?” Ye Feng retorted irritably.
Hearing Ye Feng’s teasing, Su Mo couldn’t help but laugh.
Bernard’s face turned red as he lowered his head, staying silent.
Ye Feng glanced around. This was a new palace, entirely golden in color. It was quite large—probably tens of thousands of square meters—with a golden dome dozens of meters high.
At the center of the palace stood a huge cauldron, about ten meters tall and with a diameter of roughly the same. The cauldron was jade-white, with nine uniquely shaped beasts carved along its rim, each holding a purple bead in its mouth.
What surprised Ye Feng and the others even more was a blood-red array pattern at the bottom of the cauldron. The nine carved beasts were positioned exactly at the nine corners of the array.
A sense of unease crept into Ye Feng’s heart. Though he didn’t know what that blood-red array was, he felt it was unusual.
At that moment, only three groups of people were in the vast palace, including him. The group of demon cultivators, originally ten strong, now had only seven left. Dil and Tie Man seemed unharmed. Ye Feng’s own unscathed state also surprised Dil and Tie Man somewhat.
“Sigh, truly disappointing!” Dil walked slowly toward Ye Feng. “I thought you were dead when I didn’t see you appear! If that were the case, it would have saved me a lot of trouble!”
“Thanks for your concern,” Ye Feng replied calmly. “I guess you survived thanks to Tie Man! What did you do? Just stand by and clap in encouragement?”
“Hmph, sharp-tongued!” Dil knew Ye Feng was trying to stir up conflict between him and Tie Man. “Do you really think I won’t attack you?”
“With the current situation being unclear, you definitely won’t take action!” Ye Feng said with a smile and shook his head. “Firstly, you have no way of breaking through the Death Substitute. As long as you attack me, I’ll definitely have everyone I know target you. Before I’m killed, that will be enough to take you out—unless you kill everyone here. Secondly, the environment in this palace is too quiet; it’s clearly the calm before a storm. You must be able to feel it too! This place is even more dangerous than that forest, we just don’t know what kind of danger it is. This time and place are absolutely not suitable for infighting. Thirdly, I’m an expert at resolving crises. Once a crisis hits, I’m very likely to be the lifeline for all of you. I’m sure you can’t deny that!”
Ye Feng’s words left Dil in silence. He knew very well that it really wasn’t the right time to attack Ye Feng.
Ye Feng then turned his gaze to that group of demon cultivators. The remaining seven of them looked quite disheveled, and those three probably wouldn’t be able to make it anymore.
“Where’s Ryan?” Ye Feng certainly still remembered the demon cultivator who had fought him before.
“He stayed back there!” Jiuwei looked up at Ye Feng with a hint of helplessness on his face.
“You forced your way through?” Ye Feng frowned slightly. Such behavior seemed utterly foolish to him.
“No, we encountered a demon ape. It wasn’t waiting at the entrance; instead, it came out actively to hunt us. Ryan and the other two separated from the group to distract that thing so we could escape.” Jiuwei’s expression grew even more helpless.
At that moment, a disturbance appeared in the air, and Fat returned along with the others, unharmed. This left Ye Feng and the others puzzled.
“Fat, good job!” Ye Feng didn’t ask how Fat managed to escape, as there was indeed no need—after all, it was good news that everyone was alive.
“Ye Feng, you don’t seem to have any injuries at all?” Fat asked curiously instead.
“Haven’t you the same?” Ye Feng smiled and shook his head.
“The boss is really amazing. He held back by himself while we all escaped, but that black dragon stopped him.” Bernard seemed excited.
“A black dragon?!” Fat looked at Ye Feng in shock. “You escaped from that black dragon by yourself?”
“That’s right. What’s the problem?” Ye Feng didn’t think it was a big deal.
“Is that black dragon named Nasario?” Fat pressed further.
“Really? You even know the name of the Black Dragon?” Ye Feng looked at Fat with curiosity. “Do you know him?”
“I don’t know him, but we’ve heard of him!” Lilith, standing behind Fat, spoke up. “The one we encountered was a demon cat! It let us go easily—all we had to do was give it a toy that interested it. The reason it took us so long was because we couldn’t find where the demon cat lived.”
At that, Lilith glared sharply at Fat, as if the reason they took so long to get out was mainly due to him.
Fat smiled sheepishly, while Ye Feng replied to them half-heartedly.
Before long, two more waves of spatial fluctuations occurred. The Beast Taming Sect emerged first; they were short two members, and the rest of them seemed listless.
Next came the Heavenly Sword Sect, which suffered heavy losses. They had started with ten people, but now only five remained.
Ye Feng tried his best to avoid bringing up such unpleasant matters.
Once everyone had gathered, the cauldron in the center of the hall seemed to react to something, beginning to move and emitting strange noises. The sound was like a raging wind or the clashing of metal, growing louder as it approached, making everyone nervous yet eager.
Ye Feng frowned slightly. He could sense that something inside the giant cauldron was about to burst out, and the cauldron itself was still gathering strength.
After a while, sounds of something hitting came from inside the cauldron, quite noisy.
Hearing the clanging inside, Ye Feng grew even more uneasy.
The banging grew more frequent, and soon, with a loud crash, the lid of the cauldron was flung open, slamming against the ceiling before falling to the ground.
Finally, Ye Feng and the others could see what had burst out of the cauldron.
Weapons of various shapes, along with bottled pills, sprouted from the cauldron.
“So, when the palace wasn’t open before, everything that burst out from outside the palace came from here.” Ye Feng finally understood what was going on.
Everyone was stunned by what they saw, but quickly regained their composure and began frantically trying to collect the items spewing out like an oil spill.
Ye Feng also picked up two items, playing with them in his hands before realizing they seemed to be of high quality.
The wellbore eruption lasted for a whole day, during which Ye Feng and the others collected many items. Eventually, the speed of the eruption gradually slowed down until it stopped altogether. Of course, people are greedy; despite already having obtained numerous items, many wanted more. Some even flew above the giant cauldron to see if there were any remaining items inside, but to no avail. Finally, someone suggested moving the cauldron into their own storage ring. Such a suggestion, once made, sparked greed in many people. The crowd soon discovered another thing: the bottom of the cauldron seemed stuck to the ground, and no matter how hard they tried, they couldn’t move it an inch. After searching around, they finally found out why the cauldron couldn’t be moved. “It must be that formation below causing the problem. Let’s destroy it!” someone in the crowd shouted. “Hey, wait!” Ye Feng tried to stop them, but it was already too late. A few people in the crowd attacked the ground beneath the cauldron. After a few strikes, the ground was severely damaged, and indeed, the cauldron could now be moved. What the crowd didn’t notice was that as the formation was destroyed, the nine magical beasts carved on the cauldron also began to change. The purple beads in their mouths slowly shattered and disappeared. At that moment, a deep roar clearly reached the ears of everyone. Ye Feng could clearly sense danger in that roar—it was an instinctive feeling that the creature emitting it was by no means ordinary. After the roar, a black mist rose inside the cauldron, swirling around and repeatedly striking the lid, trying to break free. “What’s that?” Everyone saw what was happening and realized something was wrong. “What else could it be?” Ye Feng replied irritably, “Obviously, it’s a sealed evil creature.” “That formation on the ground was originally meant to suppress that thing. Now that you’ve destroyed it, it will naturally break free.” “That thing is definitely not good. Is there any way to deal with this trouble?” Fat wanted to know if Ye Feng had a solution. “I don’t understand that sealing formation. Let’s wait and see what happens!” Ye Feng remained quite calm.
