Chapter 267: Close Contact with the Black Dragon
Following Nightmare’s directions, Ye Feng led a few people to the cave where Nasario lived in no time.
It was a massive rock formation—so large that it could even be called a mountain. But unlike a mountain, it was a single, smooth, giant stone entirely covered in emerald green, without even a trace of soil or weeds.
“What a huge rock!” Everyone couldn’t help but exclaim in awe upon seeing it.
“Shh…” Ye Feng gestured for them to be quiet.
Whistling sounds came from inside the cave—sounds that resembled strong winds blowing through narrow passages or the snoring of some giant creature.
“What’s that sound?” Su Mo asked in alarm. Though she had a rough idea of what it was, she still found it hard to believe.
“That’s the black dragon snoring!” Ye Feng said nonchalantly.
“What should we do now? Sneak in while it’s asleep?” Su Mo asked, her tone clearly questioning.
“That won’t work. That guy is probably pretending to sleep!” Ye Feng shook his head helplessly. “Do you really think it would let us leave just because it’s sleeping?”
“What then?” Su Mo asked.
“Wait a moment!” Ye Feng raised his hand. “We need to figure out where the exit is in the cave first.”
“How can we know? If we don’t go in and check, or use our mental energy to scan, there’s no way we’ll find the exit.” Su Mo felt Ye Feng’s words were meaningless.
“Wait a bit; I’ll find something!” Ye Feng said as he extended his mental energy into the Void Realm, this time entering the First Realm.
“I need an instrument that can see through the entire mountain!” Ye Feng needed a technological device. He knew that using something from the cultivation world would surely cause energy fluctuations that would attract the black dragon’s attention. Even though the black dragon might just be pretending to sleep and observing them, it was better to be cautious.
“Ultimate Penetrator! TaiClorelle基’s latest product—can see through any object and adjust the level of penetration itself. Price: one million First Realm units!”
“Alright, I’ll take it!” Ye Feng glanced at the item, which seemed easy to carry.
It resembled a magnifying glass, with numerous small buttons on the handle and the frame around it.
“Purchase successful! One million first-tier domain points consumed!”
As soon as that dialog box appeared, Ye Feng took out the item.
Seeing the oddly shaped object suddenly in Ye Feng’s hands, the two humans and the two beasts looked at him curiously. “What is this?”
“You’ll find out soon!” Ye Feng said with a mysterious smile.
Following the instructions in the manual, Ye Feng aimed the penetrator at the huge rock and pressed a button at the bottom of the handle.
Immediately, the mirror of the penetrator projected an image of the rock in front of everyone.
As Ye Feng pressed another button on the side, the image changed slowly, revealing the internal structure of the rock more clearly.
Soon, everyone could see the hollow shape inside the rock.
Ye Feng pressed another button, and the projection changed from a flat image to a three-dimensional one, as if a small cave appeared before them.
What was even more incredible was that they could see the skeleton of a black dragon.
It was a huge black dragon, coiled inside the cave, occupying about one-third of its volume.
“Uh, that’s…” Su Mo pointed at the massive skeleton in disbelief.
“This is the result of penetration; it doesn’t mean the creature inside is in this skeletal state,” Ye Feng explained.
“From this 3D diagram, you can see the overall structure of the cave,” Ye Feng said, pointing to a small passage at the end of the black dragon. “This must be the exit, as it’s the only place in the cave that resembles a door.”
“Wait until everyone reaches the cave entrance. Once you hear my command, rush straight for that door—don’t hesitate!” Ye Feng pointed at the door-like structure.
“What about the black dragon? It’s not asleep. Won’t we be committing suicide by rushing in?” Su Mo shook her head quickly at the idea.
“You don’t need to worry about that. I’ll find a way to trap it, but it won’t take long—maybe just a few seconds. That’s why you need to hurry. Go in first; I’ll enter last to cover your retreat. Don’t hesitate—act immediately when you hear my command!” Ye Feng emphasized again.
With that, Ye Feng put away the penetrator and led everyone quietly to the cave entrance.
The snoring sound inside the cave grew louder, and the strong air currents at the entrance scared everyone. Even Ye Feng’s heartbeat accelerated!
Ye Feng took out that black ball—it was the Panphasic Net. It was the only thing in his hands that could trap the black dragon for a while, but he knew that with such a divine beast’s strength, comparable to that of a divine weapon, the Panphasic Net would likely disintegrate in an instant.
“Get ready!” Ye Feng held the black ball between his fingers and shouted at the two humans and two beasts, “I’ll start counting down from now. When I reach one, you all must rush in immediately!”
Su Mo was curious about what that black ball was, but she knew now wasn’t the time to ask. Suppressing her doubts, she nodded as well.
“Three… two…”
“One!” At the moment he said “one,” Ye Feng crushed the black ball, and everyone rushed out immediately. Xiao Yu was the first to enter through the door.
Just as the others reached the door, a loud roar came from inside the cave, causing it to shake violently. The black barrier that had trapped the black dragon was torn apart in an instant.
Ye Feng thought to himself that things were bad. “Hurry up!”
Bernard and Meng Shan also rushed in, but Su Mo turned to look at the giant black dragon that had broken free. This pause angered Ye Feng greatly, so he pushed her hard. “Go!”
As soon as he pushed Su Mo through the door, the black dragon’s attack stopped Ye Feng in his tracks. A huge tail blocked the door, sealing it tightly.
What surprised Ye Feng was that the black dragon didn’t attack him further but instead stared at him with its big eyes, sizing him up.
Ye Feng could clearly feel the intense pressure emanating from it, and his heart beat rapidly. He knew he was in big trouble now.
“Little thing, you’re human, right? What’s your name?” The black dragon coiled around Ye Feng.
“I’m Ye Feng!” Ye Feng replied warily. “What do you want?”
“I’m Nasario. Human, I’m very interested in you!” The black dragon said calmly with a smile. “Since this area existed, no one has ever escaped through this door. Your appearance made me release four little guys right away—quite remarkable!”
“There aren’t many people these days who are both brave and smart. Most humans either lack common sense, being brave but foolish, or they’re cowards who only think about scheming others out of fear!” Nasario seemed convinced he had Ye Feng in his grasp.
“Stop beating around the bush. What do you want so you’ll let me go?” Ye Feng asked.
“Do you really want to leave?” Naisario shook his head and laughed.
“I have no reason to stay!” Ye Feng’s gaze was firm. He knew there must be a reason why the other party hadn’t killed him right away.
“I’ve been watching you since you entered this area,” Naisario said with a smile. “And I’ve noticed that you seem to have quite a few secrets hidden from others.”
Hearing this, Ye Feng’s heart tightened.
“Tell me, the day you sneaked into the jungle before breaking into that human settlement and then suddenly disappeared—where exactly did you go?” Clearly, Naisario had seen Ye Feng enter the Void Realm, though he couldn’t see the gate to it.
Ye Feng was momentarily stunned by the black dragon’s question. “Disappeared?!”
It took him a while to realize that he had entered the jungle to find a place where no one would notice him as he entered the Void Realm.
“I don’t know what you did, but I scanned every part of this forest with my mental power and found no trace of you. Can you tell me where you went? Or can you break through the restrictions here and appear elsewhere in an instant?” Naisario pressed further.
“I just went for a walk in the jungle. The restrictions in this area are so strong—how could I possibly break through and leave? If I could leave, there would be no need to risk confronting you now.” Of course, Ye Feng couldn’t tell Naisario that he had entered the Void Realm.
“Kid, lying isn’t a good habit!” Naisario’s words carried a hint of warning.
“You need to understand your situation. I’ve blocked the exit—there’s no way you can escape. Even if you use that black space to restrict me for another second or two, you still won’t be able to get away.” Naisario didn’t seem in a hurry either; he planned to keep this up if Ye Feng refused to speak.
Ye Feng, meanwhile, reached out with his mental power into the Void Realm, searching for a new strategy.
“Since you’re wary of me, how about we get to know each other first? Tell me where you got those strange gadgets of yours.” Naisario began looking for a new way in. “That thing you used to deal with those humans that day—would it be useless against me? Or is its supply limited…”
