Chapter 97: Great Love Comes from a Lever

Taking the key from Nikola, Ye Feng entered the basement cell and removed the gear used to restrain Long Yue.
“Ye Feng, that vampire…” Long Yue didn’t finish her sentence before Ye Feng took over.
“It’s okay. Brother Long has improved his strength again and gave that guy a thorough beating. Now he can’t move even a finger.”
“Are you all fine?” What Long Yue really wanted to ask was about Long Tian, but what came out was something else.
“We’re all fine. Brother Long met some new friends upstairs, and the two elders from the hunter organization who came with us are also okay, though they’re too exhausted to move for now,” Ye Feng reassured her.
“What about Ling Er?” Long Yue was worried as she hadn’t heard anything about Zhuge Ling Er.
“I and Brother Long sent her along with one of my female hunter teammates to the American hunter branch. They’re safe!” Ye Feng could tell that Long Yue and Zhuge Ling Er were very close.
“Thank you!” Unusually, Long Yue apologized to Ye Feng. Although she didn’t have the impatient temper of most wealthy girls, her innate pride made it hard for her to bow her head. Normally, she might have just nodded and stayed silent. Today, she didn’t know why, but she said those words of thanks.
“No need to thank me. If it weren’t for Brother Long, I might already be a vampire by now!” Ye Feng joked, though it was also true.
“If I hadn’t insisted on coming here, we wouldn’t have caused all this trouble!” Long Yue frankly admitted her fault. “That vampire said he didn’t even know where you went after rescuing your friend. If I hadn’t been captured, you might have already fled back to the country.”
“That was fleeing, while now we’re returning openly—it’s a huge difference. If we had fled, we’d likely be hunted again. Now that that vampire is in such a mess, he probably won’t bother us anymore. That’s how we truly solved the problem,” Ye Feng said nicely. “Actually, I should thank you for being captured! It allowed us to find a better solution.”
“Where did you learn to comfort people like that?” Long Yue couldn’t help but laugh. She hadn’t expected Ye Feng to be so sweet-talking.
“I didn’t learn it. It’s innate—born with me!” Ye Feng pointed to his head and laughed.

“Just talking big.” Long Yue shook her head. “I heard from people in the Hunter Organization that that vampire killed three of your teammates. Is that true?”
“Mm!” Hearing this topic, Ye Feng lost his smile and nodded solemnly.
Seeing Ye Feng’s expression, Long Yue realized she had brought up an inappropriate subject. She silently followed him out of the cell.
After leaving the ancient castle, Ye Feng remained silent and walked straight over to Hank and Luo Li, sitting down beside them against the castle wall.
Long Yue, unable to adapt to the harsh sunlight, stopped at the damaged part of the castle wall where Ye Feng had just come out. After about five or six seconds, she slowly walked over to Long Tian, still dazed.
“She’s beautiful!” Hank nudged Ye Feng with his elbow, his gaze fixed on Long Yue.
“I think you’re too old for her, both in terms of actual age and how old you look now!” Ye Feng turned to look at Hank’s dark eyes, similar to those of an Easterner, and spoke bluntly.
“What are you thinking, kid? I’m talking about you! I’m already a hundred-year-old monster. If I were to look for someone, it would be another old monster like me.” Hank laughed heartily. He thought Ye Feng thought he was interested in that little girl, Long Yue—something that hadn’t happened in hundreds of years.
But he didn’t notice the fleeting glint in Luo Li’s eyes when he said those words.
“Long Yue already has a fiancé,” Ye Feng shrugged.
“Not being married means you still have a chance. Haven’t you heard that great love comes from persistence?” Hank tried to instill in Ye Feng so-called adult ideas. “Of course, if the other person is already married, then persisting would be immoral.”
“I don’t have such thoughts for now,” Ye Feng shook his head helplessly. For a child who grew up in an orphanage, they lacked security more than ordinary people, trusting others easily and making promises sparingly. To strangers, they appeared friendly on the surface but deliberately kept their distance to avoid getting hurt. This was a social barrier that children raised in orphanages faced when entering society, though to varying degrees.
Seeing Ye Feng’s lack of interest, Hank gave up trying to persuade him and just sat there, watching Long Tian and the others chatting in the distance.

“Brother, I heard you’ve gotten stronger again?” Long Yue walked up to Long Tian with a mischievous smile on her face.
“What are you doing here in Canada with us?” Long Tian’s expression darkened slightly.
“Isn’t it to bring you back?” Long Yue seemed a bit aggrieved.
“I remember there’s a rule in the Long family: once you pass through ten layers of gates, you can move freely without being restricted by the family!” Yet Long Tian’s expression remained unfriendly. “I’ve done that, so I can act freely outside without any family constraints. I can go back whenever I want—once every hundred years or once every thousand years. The decision is up to me! If you want to play the family card, then move out of the Long family with Father. I can live with you. As for the Long family, it has nothing to do with me!”
“Brother…” Although Long Yue knew Long Tian had never had any fondness for the Long family, she still didn’t want things to go this far. “You must have seen the letter Ling’er gave you!”
“I have. So what? If you don’t want to be the head of the family, it’s simple—there are two ways: either leave the Long family or cultivate to the Ningdan stage to regain your freedom.” Long Tian still wouldn’t budge. “Also, although Lu Zhanren isn’t bad, I don’t think you two will be happy together. You know what I mean! He’s not right for you at all!”
Hearing this, Long Yue’s expression became complicated as she silently lowered her head, giving up on trying to get Long Tian to return to the Long family.
