Chapter 83: She’s Not Fourteen

An apartment in downtown New York, USA.
Ye Feng and the others found Hank’s residence in New York using the information obtained from the phone call. After confirming the address was correct, Ye Feng pressed the doorbell. After a while, the door opened, and to their surprise, it was a little girl who seemed to be only thirteen or fourteen years old. She had a pretty face and appeared somewhat shy. Seeing so many strangers at the door, she pulled herself back behind the door, showing only half of her head. Her big, watery eyes flickered with both fear and curiosity.
“I’m sorry…”
“Uncle Hank, there are so many people outside…” The girl ran inside, leaving Ye Feng and the others staring in confusion.
Soon, Hank came out of the room. The girl carefully held onto the hem of his clothes, hiding half of her body behind him, which made everyone laugh.
“You’re here!” Hank smiled kindly at Ye Feng and the others, then patted the girl’s head. “Loli, go make tea for the big brothers and sisters.”
“She’s not your daughter, is she?” Zhuge Ling’er couldn’t help asking.
“No, there’s a long story about her. Let’s talk about your matter first!” Hank shook his head with a strange expression.
Unbeknownst to him, his expression made Ye Feng and the others secretly label him as “a weird uncle who abducts little girls.”
“It’s the same thing we talked about on the phone! We’ve found the culprit behind the murder of William and the others—a vampire count. He kidnapped one of my friends, and now we need your help!” Ye Feng said seriously.
“A count?!” Hank frowned deeply.
Killing hunters without reason was a heinous act. As an elder of the hunter organization, he had the duty to stop such behavior and mediate. If necessary, force could be used.
But the situation didn’t look promising, as the opponent was a count. A vampire count’s strength was equivalent to that of a Yuan Ying-stage warrior in this world, while none of the hunters’ elders had yet reached that stage. The hunters’ deterrence might not be effective against that vampire count, which was the main reason for Hank’s frown. He had thought this matter would involve at most a Jin Dan-stage warrior, allowing him to resolve it easily.

“That’s right, an earl! That’s also why we decided not to take action ourselves—his strength is far beyond ours.” Ye Feng waited for Hank to respond.
“Alright, I’ll give it a try! What outcome do you want?” Hank raised his own question; his task was to help both sides reach a common expectation.
“It’s simple—make him release my friend! We can overlook what happened before for now!” Ye Feng clenched his fists. He knew this wasn’t the time to act impulsively; he had to make concessions. “As for my grudge against him, I’ll settle it with him myself later—making him pay back double! All you need to do is make him release my friend!”
At that moment, the little girl named Luo Li came out of the kitchen and handed tea cups filled with tea to everyone. Then she hid behind Hank, staring at Ye Feng and his group of uninvited guests with her big, watery eyes.
“Alright, I’ll do my best. As for whether he’ll agree, I don’t know! I’ll try my best to help you!” Hank thought it was already quite difficult for Ye Feng to make such a big concession. Having offered to mediate earlier, he could only do his best not to disappoint Ye Feng now.
“Thank you!” Ye Feng finally breathed a sigh of relief after hearing Hank agree.
“Then, let’s decide who will participate in the negotiations! Besides me and Luo Li, who do you plan to send?” Hank looked at Ye Feng.
“Luo Li? You mean, take this little kid along too?” Not only Ye Feng but also Long Tian looked at Hank in confusion.
“Don’t joke around. If things really get physical, where will we find time to take care of her?” Long Tian frowned slightly.
“Heh… I knew you’d say that.” Hank seemed used to this reaction. He just shook his head and chuckled softly. “Among everyone here, including me, Luo Li is the strongest in terms of strength! Don’t let appearances cloud your judgment!”
“Over seventy years ago, while investigating a case, I discovered Luo Li, who had lost her mind. She brutally slaughtered nearly ten thousand people at a private military base! I brought her back to the Hunter Organization, where she became one of the nominal elders. The reason she doesn’t want to get close to you isn’t because she’s shy or afraid of you—it’s because she’s worried she might accidentally hurt you!”

“If she loses her mind, she’ll kill every living thing she sees—not even an ant will be spared! I’m her doctor, and after all these years of treatment, it seems we’ve achieved some progress.” Hank’s explanation left Ye Feng and the others stunned; they never imagined they had been completely wrong.
Luo Li forced a smile that was even uglier than crying, which finally pulled Ye Feng and the others out of their shock.
“How did you do that?” Zhuge Ling’er couldn’t help asking.
“I have a pair of special eyes—the best gift from heaven!” Hank smiled happily. “These eyes allow me to see through the truth of things and also give me the ability to create imaginary worlds.”
As soon as Hank finished speaking, Ye Feng and the others found themselves facing an endless ocean. The sound of waves crashing on the beach, the salty smell of the sea, seagulls flying in the sky, beautiful women in bikinis…
With just a snap of fingers, they returned from the beach to reality.
“That just now…” Ye Feng and the others were filled with shock.
“That’s right, that’s my ability…” Hank winked at Ye Feng. “That’s why I say I’m not a combat type. And if there really was a fight, Brother Long Tian would lose badly!”
“Uh, I have to admit, if you have such an ability, I have no chance at all,” Long Tian said with a bitter smile, shaking his head. “Having such a nearly real illusion allows you to always have the upper hand and remain invincible!”
“Not exactly. Against those with weaker mental strength, this trick works well. But against those with stronger mental strength, breaking through my illusions can backfire on me. So when fighting true strongmen, such tricks would only make me die faster. That’s why I say I’m not a combat type! I know my limits!” Hank helplessly spread his hands.
