Chapter 77: The Trap

Suburbs of Hamilton, Canada.
An ancient, dark castle with a history of hundreds of years—its walls free of vines, its windows uncluttered by dust. It was clear that someone took care of this seemingly old building.

Kelli, dressed in a purple dress, paced restlessly back and forth in the tidy room. Dresses had always been her least favorite clothing; she preferred jeans and shirts, and would rather go bare than wear one. Yet now, against her usual habits, she wore a purple dress that complemented her slightly wildish tan skin and slender figure.

“Miss Kelli, your breakfast!” A maid entered the room carrying a silver tray, evoking the atmosphere of medieval European nobility. “Would you like to dine here today or in the hall downstairs?”

Kelli ignored the maid, a behavior consistent with her usual cold and aloof demeanor, unwilling to engage easily with others.

The maid seemed accustomed to this treatment. She simply placed the tray on a small table in the room and politely left.

“I knew you wouldn’t want to have breakfast with me today. So… I brought my breakfast too… to eat with you!” A young man in a black tuxedo approached the small table with a silver tray and carefully sat down on a wooden stool.

He appeared to be in his early twenties, with golden hair, brown eyes, a neatly shaven face, and a healthy, rosy complexion rather than a sickly pallor. Undoubtedly, he was a man of elegant posture and handsome looks.

On his silver tray, aside from a cup of dark red liquid, there was also a piece of steak that didn’t seem very cooked.

As the young man raised his glass about to drink, he saw Kelli staring intently at his cup. He immediately realized what had happened.

“Miss Kelli, this isn’t human blood—it’s just red wine. I just like things of this color. You should know that vampires of the count rank don’t need human blood to survive. I can go a hundred years without a drop of blood and still not starve!” The young man said, gently shaking his glass, as the pure aroma of red wine filled the room.

Setting down his glass, the young count picked up his knife and fork to cut a piece of beef and put it in his mouth, only to find Kelli staring at him coldly. He put down his utensils.

“Miss Kelly, it seems you don’t like seeing me eat rare beef, but you really should try the bread that Miss Lisa baked for you!” The young count pointed at the delicious-looking bread on Kelly’s plate, then picked up his own plate and prepared to leave.
“What exactly do you want?” Kelly finally spoke as the young count reached the door.
“We discussed this on your first day here. I’ll give you the same answer— I want to marry you!” The young count turned around and tilted his head at her.
“I’ve said I won’t agree. Do you plan to lock me up for life?” Kelly shouted at the young count. She had never done such a thing to anyone before; she had always been a quiet girl.
“No, you will agree! Believe me!” The young count smiled and shook his head.
“You killed William, Christine, and Yi. Do you think I’ll agree to marry you?” Kelly shook her head firmly. “I’ll never marry you, even in death!”
“And there’s also Ye Feng, right?” The young count raised his eyebrows with a smile.
“You… you won’t be able to find him!” Kelly wasn’t even sure about what she was saying.
“I don’t need to find him. He’s already come to me on his own!” The young count winked at her.
“What? How is that possible?” Kelly still didn’t understand what was going on.
“Do you know why I went out twice?” The young count placed his plate on the cabinet by the door and stepped closer to her. “It was to give you time to inform him!”
“You did this on purpose…” Kelly covered her mouth. Clearly, this news shocked her greatly. “You’re using me…”
“No, I’m just giving you full freedom. In fact, it’s fine for you to message him in front of me. I won’t blame you, because I know he’s your friend! The only one you have now!” The young count’s smile carried an indescribable meaning.
“Ye Feng won’t come. I’ve made him run away. If you’re angry, just kill me!” Kelly finally couldn’t hold back and told the truth. It was a comfort to her, as she had no idea what Ye Feng’s current situation was.

“Oh, I’m sorry to tell you, he didn’t escape!” The young count still wore a smile. “He’s here, he’s come to save you. He’s in Hamilton right now…”
“That’s not true!” Kelly’s pupils contracted sharply. She never imagined her good intentions would lead to such bad consequences. If she hadn’t sent that message, Ye Feng might still be in China, unaware of anything. It was her message that made him aware of the team’s trouble, forcing him to follow and putting him in danger of death.
“There’s no need for any proof. You already know whether I’m telling the truth or not!” The young count reached out and gently touched Kelly’s face with the back of his hand. “Marry me, and I won’t kill him!”
Kelly hesitated for a moment. She lowered her head and after a long pause, spoke up, “Give me some time to think…”
“No problem. Take your time!” The young count left happily.
Kelly sat by the bed, took a few deep breaths to calm her thoughts. “No, I must tell Ye Feng. This is a trap. I have to get him to leave here right away!”
She quietly walked to the door, glanced around to ensure no one was around, then tiptoed into the study.
She turned on the computer in the study, quickly typed in the Hunter’s website address, and pressed Enter.
“I forgot to tell you—I just unplugged the internet cable…” The young count stood at the door and knocked. “But there are plenty of movies on the computer. You can watch them if you’re bored!”
