Chapter 657: Thor’s Hammer
Koscherch, the King of Frost Giants who ruled the 23rd layer of the Abyss, was the lord of this realm. He was also a demon god possessing the powers of Fury and Frost Giants, with a strength equivalent to that of a mid-tier god. What had come this time was merely one of his lower-god incarnations, yet it was still more powerful than ordinary demon lords at that level.
It was a monster composed of a giant eyeball and countless tentacle-like demonic eyes.
Donald and Astimos did not recognize this monster, but Zareel, the new ruler of Hell who had existed in the Abyss for much longer, exclaimed in astonishment.
“By Hell, this is the Many-Eyed Tyrant Kapiri…”
Only after hearing Zareel’s explanation did Donald and the others understand who this being was.
Legend said that the Dark Well on the 73rd layer of the Abyss served as a prison, holding many powerful entities even demon lords feared. Among them, the Many-Eyed Tyrant Kapiri was undoubtedly one of the most formidable prisoners. As one of the oldest ancient demons still alive, it was said that Kapiri was exiled to the Dark Well for openly defying the Mother of Abyssal Demons—the Chaos Queen—and refusing to join her waged war.
In the past, the powerful Chaos Queen had destroyed countless lesser demon lords for similar acts of defiance. This meant that even at the peak of her power, she was unwilling or unable to destroy Kapiri.
Kapiri’s recent visitors all sought the support of this mighty many-eyed tyrant in some secretly planned upheavals that could shake the foundations of the entire Abyss.
In order to resolve the problem of Hell once and for all, the Will of the Abyss even resorted to releasing this ancient and powerful being. Although deprived of his territory and the gifts of the Abyss, this progenitor of ancient eye demons still possessed strength on par with the peak of a mid-tier god. He could be considered the strongest opponent among those present in Hell, aside from the King of the Undead, Oscar.
Even Donald couldn’t help but frown upon encountering such a formidable enemy.
So far, three enemies at or above the mid-tier god level had already appeared. Not to mention that the King of the Undead clearly surpassed the limits of a mid-tier god in terms of power.
The other two did not seem to be demonic creatures. One was a harpy, 12 feet tall, with crow-like black wings and feathers, and three heads.
On her left was the head of a beautiful, elf-like woman. On the right was that of a twisted, shriveled, ugly old woman. In the middle was the head of a particularly terrifying harpy with bared fangs. It was still Zareel who recognized the identity of the newcomer—Adat, the Queen of Harpies. Adat did not control any particular layer of the Abyss. As a nomadic demon lord, she and her soul-woman servants roamed between layers in search of victims to replenish her slowly growing army of bewitched slaves. Without a territory, her forces could not grow stronger. Thus, as the Queen of Harpies, Adat desperately wanted to gain control over an Abyssal plane. But despite her power as a lower deity, without allies, she could not defeat those demon lords who had territorial support. So, the Queen of Harpies could only seek help wherever it might be found. Compared to those cunning demon lords who worked little and reaped much, the Queen of Harpies was far more easily stirred by the will of the Abyss to launch attacks on the Hellish planes. The other figure was a humanoid clad in metal-plated leather armor. Standing nine feet tall, it was covered in dark blue scales, with a flat, snake-like head bearing a pair of cold yellow-green eyes. Its crimson, forked tongue kept moving in and out, surrounded by poisonous flames and swampy mists—its very appearance instilling endless fear. This was a rather low-key Abyssal demon god: Melshok, the God of Serpents who ruled the 74th layer, the Rainforest Swamp Plane. His power was roughly on par with that of Adat, the Queen of Harpies. Faced with such a powerful invading force, all the mighty beings of Hell, aside from Lord Donald and his servant Astimos, could not help but feel worried. As the five greatest powers of the Abyss arrived at the edge of Hell, Donald sighed and said, “Oscar, you’ve clung to life for a thousand years just to regain your strength. Instead of resting in the Pale Kingdom, you dare interfere in my affairs. Let me give you advice—excessiveness and greed will lead to your downfall!” Hearing this, the King of the Undead, who had just shattered the attacks of many invaders and regained some of his strength through cunning tactics, laughed loudly. “Arrogant gods! If you hand over what belongs to me, the great Oscar might spare your life and make you one of my servants. Otherwise, you’ll be cast into the realm of death forever, suffering endless torment!”
Our side holds an absolute advantage. At this point, the Undying King, whose power has surged dramatically, surely won’t listen to the enemy’s words. His hatred toward Donald, the true god who has twice ruined his plans, is no less intense than that toward his other old rivals.
Seeing this, Donald turned to the other abyssal powerhouses and said, “Destiny has decreed the birth of hell. Those who try to share the power given to the abyss with others will surely be abandoned by fate! Do you really intend to perish along with the mad Oscar?”
Most of those present came here to gain the power bestowed by the abyss, so they certainly wouldn’t change their minds with Donald’s few unconvincing words. Only the multi-eyed tyrant Kapiri seemed moved, his most powerful eye opening slightly.
“Gods and hell—all will be destroyed by the great Koscherch…”
Meanwhile, before the Undying King could even act, the King of Frost Giants, driven by rage, impatiently launched an attack toward hell.
Koscherch’s fury and hatred were well-known throughout the Bottomless Abyss. Due to his personality, he had no allies among the demon lords, yet no demons challenged his rule over the 23rd layer of the abyss.
Although once human, Koscherch was resurrected in the abyss and took on the form of a Frost Giant. He denied his human identity and took pride in being a Frost Giant. The vast majority of his followers were Frost Giants. There were also some unknown, ferocious humanoid tribes and orc barbarians who worshipped him. This gave Koscherch, who held the dual titles of demon god and abyssal lord, enough strength to rival higher gods within his domain.
Just as this ugly giant, clad in leather armor and wielding a massive hammer, charged toward the hellish forces, a colossal lightning bolt, as if reaching from sky to earth, suddenly descended from the heavens. Accompanied by a thunderous roar that shook the entire hellish realm, even Koscherch was blasted back dozens of miles by the fierce lightning strike.
After the dust cleared, everyone could see a circular area hundreds of feet in diameter where the lightning had struck. The soil and rocks had been flattened by the powerful shockwave.
At the center of the circle stood a square hammer, crackling with electric energy. Judging from its power and divine radiance, it was clearly a powerful artifact at least at the level of a medium-grade divine artifact!
