Chapter 650: Oscar’s Ace in the Hole
Whether due to differences in factions or the division of cosmic forces, Hell is inherently hostile to the Abyss. Thus, Abyssal demons and Hellish devils are completely opposed to each other and cannot coexist peacefully.
Seeing that Hell had received external reinforcements and managed to withstand their attacks, the Abyssal will immediately sent more demons, preparing for a protracted battle to overwhelm them with sheer numbers.
The bloody battle continued!
With reinforcements from the main world, and especially with all factions now eager to get involved, Hell, despite still having a large number of devils, managed to firmly defend its dimensional boundaries.
Currently, the number of Hell’s reinforcements was several times that of its devils. Moreover, aside from the initial group, the rest were elite fighters sent by various forces from the main world for training. Though they still fell short compared to the semi-godly strong ones, their combat strength was no less than that of the devils!
The gods of the Pantheon were all focused on the battle between the Abyss and Hell.
It must be said that Donald, the Natural Guardian, had once again accomplished something that shocked the gods.
Previously, it was only powerful demons or fallen archdemons who dragged realms from the material world or higher realms to the lower realms, causing them to sink and be transformed by the Abyssal laws to become part of the Infinite Abyss.
But now, for the first time since the birth and growth of the Abyss, it was attempting to plunder realms from other layers, especially those deep below the 400th layer.
Throughout history, even if some true gods wanted to weaken the Abyss’s power, they could only compete with demons around the Abyss or in its shallower layers for partially fallen realms or incomplete semi-realms. Donald’s actions were undoubtedly an unprecedented feat!
The consequence of such a feat was that the Hell realm would face severe attacks from the Abyssal will, and it was even possible that the incarnations of the three Abyssal giants might descend collectively to destroy Hell.
The strongest gods of the Pantheon were ready to intervene when those three giants appeared in the Abyss, to protect this newly born realm.
Most importantly, Donald’s actions in dividing the Abyss gave the gods of the Pantheon the best solution to deal with this problem. Although the Abyss had its own value and could not be completely eradicated, creating an enemy to hold it at bay would allow the gods to worry less and not constantly fret about this cancerous presence.
Meanwhile, in the Pale Kingdom, with one of the three demon lords fallen, only six powerful warriors remained, reducing the attacking side’s advantage further.
But if it were an ordinary true god or demon lord, even one with the strength of a mid-tier god, they wouldn’t be able to withstand such an encirclement. Yet what kind of figure is Oscar? Once one of the Three Giants of the Abyss, the Lord of the Undead, the creator of undead creatures, the great Creator. Any single title is enough to inspire awe in all beings, and combined, they make even higher gods wary. Even if the Oscar before them is merely an embodiment at the peak of mid-tier god strength, he still far surpasses any other person present in terms of realm. The embodiment of the Destroyer Lord is powerful, but it is only at the lower god level. The reason it can exhibit the combat power of a mid-tier god is because Ostachius’s destructive power is immense, and his fighting style is extremely fierce. The same is true for the embodiment of the Fallen Lord. The rest, those at or below the mid-tier god level, are quite formidable, but they are still far from posing a threat to mid-tier gods and can only rely on numbers to hold them at bay. Just as Oscar’s aura grew weaker and the surrounding Abyssal warriors thought they could win, they saw the King of the Undead suddenly burst into laughter, his strength and aura surging violently. He temporarily broke through the limits of a mid-tier god, gaining the power on par with higher gods, and unleashed a mighty force that sent the attackers flying far away. “How is this possible?” All the Abyssal warriors were in disbelief until they saw a splendid gold-plated staff appear in the King of the Undead’s hand. Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be made entirely of white bones, adorned with dark obsidian, with a human skull at the top embedded with large, precious gems of various colors. The eye sockets and nostrils of the skull emitted an evil red light, and its mouth began to open and close. “The Staff of Death!?” The Fallen Lord Grant exclaimed in surprise, while the Goddess of Undead Vengeance, VinLisa, screamed in disbelief, “You actually found the Staff of Death? Impossible. I clearly hid it in the safest place…” This death magic artifact, also known as Oscar’s Staff, is one of the most famous in the multiverse—a powerful mid-tier artifact whose strength is close to that of high-tier artifacts, or even exceeds it in certain aspects. It is precisely because of the Staff of Death that Oscar was able to rise from an Abyssal demon lord to a being of power in the realm of the undead, highlighting the rarity of this artifact. The greatest strength of the Staff of Death lies not in its power, but in the law of death as a divine domain that can reach the strength of higher gods. With the help of this artifact, one can delve into its mysteries. “Do you mean the Noisy Tunnels as the safest place?”
“Hahaha…… You wretched dark-skinned bitch! You thought you hid well enough, but my most loyal servant still found you. My faithful servant has broken the seal for me and retrieved the Staff of Death. You worm who stole my power—die!”
Oscar’s plan took everyone by surprise. He used himself as bait to gather the enemy’s power, allowing him to reclaim his sacred artifact when they were preoccupied. While VinLisa was away, it was a legendary lich who had been ordered to spy under the Lady of the Undead who retrieved the artifact for him.
Once the seal binding the Staff of Death was broken, Oscar, as its master, could instantly summon the artifact. With it in hand, he quickly regained much of his former power. Though he hadn’t yet reached the level of a higher god, he could wield power on that scale for a short time.
Speaking of which, Oscar waved his Bone Staff, pointing its skull-shaped tip at the Goddess of Vengeance. The goddess, who wielded death’s power, was immediately struck hard, almost losing control of her own domain.
Although she possessed some domain over death, her power paled in comparison to that of the King of the Undead and the Staff of Death. Thus, she was swiftly overwhelmed by the Staff’s immense force.
Among those present, aside from the Destroyer Monarch, everyone else considered retreating after Oscar recovered the Staff of Death. Especially the Goddess of Vengeance, fearing Oscar’s revenge, even planned to flee the Abyss immediately and hide in the dark regions of the main world.
After all, her actions had been extremely cruel—she had indirectly caused Oscar’s downfall. She knew full well that the King of the Undead must hate her deeply, and since she had stolen his authority over the domain of death, this alone made them irreconcilable enemies.
So, the Goddess of Vengeance immediately fled from Oscar’s attack, shooting dozens of miles away before escaping toward the lands beyond the Pale Kingdom.
With her fleeing, the other two demon lords also dared not stay. After all, Oscar had already killed one of them even before retrieving his artifact, and now that he had the Staff of Death, they were utterly powerless to resist.
Taking advantage of the mad Destroyer Monarch attacking the King of the Undead once again, these two also turned and fled without looking back.
Thus, only the two great Abyssal giants and the Spider Queen, along with their respective avatars, remained.
When Oscar spun the Staff of Death, the original Death Domain instantly became several times stronger. Realizing the situation was beyond control, Grant and Flora, the two incarnations, exchanged a glance and launched their most powerful attacks together, creating a gap in Oscar’s domain and using it to escape the battlefield. Only the incarnation of the Destroyer Monarch continued to charge frantically at the King of the Undead. Even under the pressure of the Death Domain, this mighty Abyssal Monarch sensed the crisis, but as a Destroyer Monarch, when had it ever known fear?
“Haha! Your companions have all fled, Oestasius! Surrender or die—those are your only two choices!”
“Stupid Oscar! Your brain has been turned into immortal sludge by the power of death! The great Oestasius will not be defeated by a fool like you!”
Seeing the state of the Destroyer Monarch’s incarnation, Oscar instinctively felt that something was wrong. But before he could react, he saw the incarnation lung at him and then explode with a loud boom. The immense destructive power transformed into a fierce energy storm that instantly covered half of the Pale Kingdom. This was even under the suppression of the plane’s rules; otherwise, the self-destruction of such a powerful lower incarnation of a higher deity would be enough to destroy an entire medium or small plane like this one.
The King of the Undead emerged from the aftermath of the energy storm in a battered state. If it hadn’t retrieved the Staff of Death just now, it would likely have been severely injured by that explosion.
“Damn you, Oestasius! Brainless madman!”
Even a being with normal reasoning would have chosen to escape in such a situation rather than stubbornly fight despite knowing they were outmatched, only to explode and harm their enemy.
But the Destroyer Monarch couldn’t be judged by ordinary logic. This mighty Abyssal Monarch, corrupted by the force of destruction, was known for his madness. Oscar should have anticipated such a turn of events.
The King of the Undead struck his opponent once again, saving his own plane and asserting his dominance in the Abyss, vowing to reclaim the power that once belonged to him.
However, after the Destroyer Monarch’s incarnation exploded, the Pale Kingdom was in ruins and would need time to recover. Oscar also understood the full extent of the Abyssal Will’s anger. Desperate to gain greater power, he immediately took an interest in the realm of Hell.
“This is the 422nd plane that originally belonged to me. That damned deity dared to steal a plane right under the Abyss’s nose. If I can take it back, I will surely receive great rewards from the Abyss! More importantly, my Book of Doomsday is still in the hands of that vile thief—it must be retrieved!”
Thus, the King of the Undead came up with a new plan.
