Chapter 542: A Dangerous Return
Although Donald’s current performance among the newly risen gods was outstanding, on par with that of ordinary lower-tier gods, there were countless gods in the multiverse, many of whom were so powerful that one could only look up to them in awe.
No one could assert with certainty that Donald would inevitably become as powerful as an upper-tier god—even the King of the North, who had the greatest faith in Donald, couldn’t be sure. All he could say was that Donald possessed the potential to become a mighty true god.
But was there a lack of such promising beings in this world? Throughout history, those who ultimately succeeded were rarely the dazzling geniuses from the start, but rather the hardworking pragmatists who toiled silently behind the scenes!
The image of the Feathered Serpent God disappeared for a while before the people present could recover from their shock.
Then Loki spoke to Donald, “The prophecies of the Mayan pantheon have rarely been wrong. Clearly, you are the chosen one by the Feathered Serpent God. This egg should be in your care!”
The others naturally had no objections. Though a being with godly talent was valuable, they weren’t the kind of heartless people who would sacrifice an innocent life for mere gain. Hearing this, Donald nodded and reached out again to touch the egg before him. Sensing a pure, innocent, and affectionate consciousness emanating from within, he was deeply moved. He sent a soothing thought toward it before waving his hand to store this little life in the projection space.
“Everyone, I plan to store the entire Feathered Serpent God Temple ruins space. How about we divide what we find here after we leave?”
In response to Donald’s question, everyone nodded. They didn’t have much time, and this sacred tomb was full of dangers. It was better to leave and return to the main world to distribute everything carefully.
After all, with Donald’s reputation, there was no risk of him going back on his word later.
So Donald brought everyone back into the projection space, then located the core of the temple—the altar inside the pyramid temple. After analyzing it through the Book of Truth, he poured his will and divine power into it, gaining initial control over it.
Only after doing this did Donald wave his hand to release a wide range of divine light. Though it was difficult, he gradually covered the entire temple’s will space and stored it within the projection space.
As the remaining space of the divine kingdom was on the verge of collapse, it was quickly eroded by the corrupting aura of the surrounding divine tomb ruins. The once idyllic scene filled with birdsong and floral fragrance instantly withered away, gradually turning into a muddy swamp. After glancing at the huge crater left where the Quetzalcoatl Temple used to be, Donald decided to leave this divine tomb ruins as soon as possible. If even the fallen ancient demon Jin Gu could reach the strength of a mid-tier god, just how powerful would its master, the ancient dragon Tiamat, be? According to the Sphinx, Tiamat, the world-destroying demon king of the Babylonian world, had already reached a strength level just short of that of a supreme god. Meanwhile, the strongest supreme god on their side, Loki, could only exert the combat power of a mid-tier god. Therefore, continuing to take risks was undoubtedly foolish! Besides, they had been inside this Divine Tomb of Waters for quite some time, leaving them little time. Even if they were confident in defeating the master of the tomb, there was a high chance they would be expelled from the World of Forgotten Ruins during the battle—wouldn’t that be a waste of effort? Just as Donald was about to set off, a roar that sounded like a dragon’s but was even more majestic and oppressive echoed throughout the entire space of the divine tomb ruins. Without hesitation, Donald rushed back the way he came with all his strength. Within a few breaths, he saw a colossal shadow that covered the sky descend over the site of the Quetzalcoatl Temple. Seeing the huge crater left behind, the shadow roared again and swiftly spread across the sky in Donald’s direction. Feeling the irresistible pressure behind him, Donald kept moving forward without looking back, ignoring any obstacles in his path, wishing he had two more legs. Judging from the might of that shadow, it was undoubtedly the master of the divine tomb ruins—a being just short of a supreme god, the ancient dragon Tiamat. Moreover, this powerful entity, though killed by the Babylonian gods, still possessed a residual soul that could reach the peak of a mid-tier god or even some of the powers of a supreme god. This filled Donald with terror, making every pore in his body feel as if pierced by needles. With such overwhelming strength, even with a high-tier artifact and the help of Loki, who could exert the power of a mid-tier god, their chances of winning were minuscule.
How could he dare to stay put any longer? He didn’t even dare to release Loki from the projection space, for even a brief pause could lead to a tragic end for himself. What Donald prayed for now was to be lucky enough to escape from this sacred tomb site in time. Only then, no matter how powerful the enemy was, could it not leave the space of the sacred tomb and truly be considered safe! Unfortunately, things often don’t go as one wishes. After several close calls of being attacked by the shadows behind him, Donald finally saw the edge of the sacred tomb site he had come from. But at that moment, tens of thousands of monsters gathered ahead, blocking his path. Due to the rules of the sacred tomb, he couldn’t fly high; in other words, to pass through, he had to confront these monsters of varying strengths. Yet even a slight delay could allow the terrifying beings behind him to catch up. Thus, Donald faced only one difficult choice: to stay and fight. “Since it’s inevitable, let’s have a fierce battle!” Donald’s resolve hardened instantly. He threw all negative emotions like fear out of his mind, with only one thought in his head—battle! In the blink of an eye, Donald figured out what to do. Amidst the urgent crisis with monsters blocking the way ahead and terrifying pursuers behind, he smiled with enthusiasm, stopped in his tracks, waved his hand to release the supreme god Loki, and then, facing the huge shadow rushing toward him, the Green Light of Wrath in his hand emitted a vibrant, battle-ready glow! “Tiamat?” As a supreme god, Loki had vast combat experience. The moment he appeared and saw the situation, he immediately understood the context and prepared for battle without hesitation. After unleashing the two main skills of the Green Light of Wrath—Light of Damnation and Thunder of Damnation—Donald promptly activated the Demon Hunting Domain from his Hunter identity. This domain, filled with the flames of spell burning and soul sacrifice, inflicted severe damage on demons and other hostile creatures, instantly covering the approaching forces. Then, the sound of raw flesh falling into hot oil filled the air.
A huge shadow reached into part of Donald’s demon-hunting domain and was instantly swallowed up. Although Donald managed to bite off a portion of the enemy’s shadow, his own domain also collapsed slightly—after all, the enemy’s power was far too great. To defeat that shadow’s power, Donald had to pay a price in return!… However, Donald’s domain covered only a few thousand feet, while the enemy’s size could span the sky; its extent was unknown. Even if he sacrificed his entire domain, it was unlikely to even deal with one-thousandth of the enemy.
Losing such a small portion of his body meant nothing to this powerful ancient evil demon, but it enraged Tiamat greatly. Even though it had fallen, its strength could not be desecrated by the weak, so it immediately prepared to launch a full counterattack.
Fortunately, at that moment, Loki’s attack was also ready. Black flames spread across the sky with a force comparable to that of the shadow, immediately merging with it from behind.
As a higher deity, Loki certainly didn’t have just one trick up his sleeve. But against such an existence that existed between a soul and an energy entity, these black flames capable of burning both energy and souls were the most suitable.
However, as the black flames burned the shadow, they also invisibly consumed part of it, essentially using themselves as fuel to destroy the enemy—a method far more effective than Donald’s approach of sacrificing his domain!
Although his power level had dropped significantly, the fundamental rules remained unchanged. Faced with this evil demon like Tiamat, Loki didn’t suffer from the sense of weakness caused by such a huge disparity in power levels!
By controlling the black flames and shadows to fight each other and wear each other down, Loki still had room to use other tactics.
The legendary evil god gently tapped his staff in the direction of the swirling shadows. Immediately, an invisible void appeared within the once ferocious shadows. Then, like a monster with a giant mouth, it instantly devoured a large portion of the shadow.
“Roar…”
Losing power from hundreds of feet around him, even if it was less than one percent of his overall strength, still caused Tiamat to feel pain it hadn’t experienced in ages, forcing it to emit a loud roar from its soul.
Seeing that this attack was effective, Loki tapped three more times, creating three more void areas in the shadows.
Donald understood clearly: Loki was using a spatial technique to devour part of Tiamat’s power.
So he also cast a few spells related to the rules of peace, dealing more or less damage to the shadow of Tiamat’s avatar. However, compared to a powerful higher deity like Loki who could wield magic and divine arts effortlessly as if they were instincts, the damage he caused was somewhat inferior. After several attacks that may not have been extremely powerful but were all unavoidable for Tiamat, Loki became the being who attracted the most hatred from the ancient dragon Tiamat.
