Chapter 403: The Sky City Beneath the Icebergs

“These plateau people are truly strong! They’re definitely excellent candidates for warriors!”
“Just look at that underage kid earlier—he could wield a giant axe as tall as a person and chop down trees as thick as two people combined!”
Carlisle and Celt I showed great interest in these plateau people, especially since they were highly talented warriors. Even untrained adult plateau people seemed to have physical strength comparable to Bronze-ranked warriors. In terms of raw strength, most Bronze swordsmen might not even be a match for them.
Such untapped talents, like raw gemstones, could become a powerful fighting force if given proper training!
Donald, seeing the advantages of these plateau people, also had his own thoughts, but they had a more important purpose for this journey.
“Alright, let’s stop discussing these plateau people. That’s not the purpose of our trip. After the mission is over, we’ll have plenty of time to explore these humans who live in this icy world!”
Donald’s words quelled Carlisle and the others’ curiosity. The magically propelled ship quickly flew past the plateau tribe’s settlement and headed north, deeper into the highlands.
The scenery on the frozen plateau was highly repetitive. Even though it was vast and spectacular, looking at it too much could lead to aesthetic fatigue—just like the ocean, which loses its novelty after seeing it once!
Donald accelerated the ship’s speed. Finally, after a full day of travel, they arrived at the Arctic Ice Plains.
Unlike the Great Snow Mountains and the Frozen Snow Plains, the Arctic Ice Plains had little snow. Instead, everything in sight were icebergs and glaciers. In many places, under the sunlight, they shone brilliantly like crystal palaces from legends!
The magic ship landed above an iceberg, and Donald took out the ancient parchment map that had been stored in his storage space for a long time.
“Based on the coordinates of the Dual-Feathered Dragon Swamp ruins, I’m sure our target is in this direction, about a hundred miles ahead!”
Carlisle was the first to speak eagerly, “Then what are we waiting for? Let’s go there quickly!”
The old mage offered his opinion, “We don’t know what dangers might await us there, so it’s better to be cautious.”
Donald nodded. “I agree.”
The magic ship set off again, traveling at half its previous speed toward the destination.
After flying for several miles, Chikofelt, who had been keeping an eye on the surroundings, suddenly said, “What’s that?”

Upon hearing this, everyone looked toward the glaciers below the crystal ball projection. There, an object that appeared no different from the surrounding ice suddenly moved. Donald pointed at that spot and zoomed in on the image, revealing that it was actually a crude human-shaped creature—a living being! The creature was entirely made of ice, roughly human-shaped, with limbs that allowed it to walk upright on ice. “Is this—an Ice Spirit!?” It was the highly experienced Archmage who recognized the name of this creature. The curious old mage asked, “What is an Ice Spirit?” Chikofield, the former archmage, explained, “It’s a rare elemental creature, a variant of water elemental beings. They usually live in extreme environments with abundant water but extremely cold temperatures. They’re quite uncommon in the main world; I’ve only heard of them existing in the far northern regions. This is the first time I’ve seen one in person!” “As you can see, there’s a brighter glimmer on the chest of this Ice Spirit—that’s its elemental core!” Indeed, its appearance resembled that of water and earth elemental beings. “Unlike ordinary elemental creatures, these mutated elemental beings, due to their environment of origin, inherently possess a trace of elemental law properties, allowing them to use forces related to their own attributes. They can be considered legendary versions of elemental beings. Of course, ordinary Ice Spirits are still far from the strength of legendary warriors, but they’re still capable of harming ordinary Gold-rank warriors!” “And according to the common traits of elemental beings, there’s always an Elemental Lord in each elemental cluster. The Elemental Lord within this Ice Spirit is likely a true legendary being, even surpassing ordinary legendary monsters in strength!” After hearing Chikofield’s words, everyone viewed the Ice Spirit with new respect. Although everyone present was at least Gold rank, none of them looked down on Gold-rank warriors. After all, even Gold-rank warriors in a country like Celt were considered core forces! Across the entire continent, the number of Gold-rank warriors was always scarce, with their ratio to the general population being less than one in ten thousand. An ordinary Ice Spirit was already at the Gold rank, and if such mutated elemental beings reached a certain number, they would pose a significant threat!

As if reading everyone’s thoughts, Chikofield continued, “Don’t worry about these ice spirits. Though they have an advantage in this icy environment and can be highly combative, the number of mutated elemental creatures is far less than that of ordinary elemental creatures. It’s likely there’s only one like this in an area of a hundred miles around. We’re lucky if we even encounter one. As long as we avoid being troubled by the ice spirit lord, we don’t need to worry about trouble!”
After hearing what the veteran said, everyone finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Donald, however, became very curious and hovered above the ice spirit for a while before sending out his magic ship. A few breaths later, he returned to the command cabin, holding a fist-sized pale blue ice crystal.
Everyone saw that Donald, upon returning, had some pale blue frost on him. Even with his strength, it took him a full minute to dispel the cold energy from it, showing just how powerful it was.
After removing the cold energy, Donald exhaled a puff of white vapor, opened his eyes, and said, “What a stubborn icy frost energy! I can sense a trace of a cold rule within it. Its power is on par with that of a Golden Peak Sword Saint who practices ice and snow techniques. If these mutated elemental creatures could possess the wisdom and agility of human Sword Saints, even legendary opponents would find it hard to deal with them!”
Since Chikofield had said that mutated elemental creatures were rare, Donald went out to hunt the ice spirit. Although he successfully killed it, he was accidentally hit by its frost attack. Though this amount of frost couldn’t harm his already perfect divine body, if it spread, his clothes wouldn’t withstand the extreme cold. He certainly didn’t want to experience running naked in the snow!
So Donald used his divine power to protect his outer clothes and drove away most of the frost energy. However, he inevitably got a little contaminated while taking the ice spirit’s core.
“Is this the core of the ice spirit?”
Chikofield curiously took the crystal emitting a beautiful glow from Donald’s hands. Without Donald’s power barrier, the ice crystal immediately began to emit a pale blue mist, causing the temperature in the command cabin to drop sharply. Chikofield’s gloved hands and sleeves quickly covered in a layer of pale blue frost.

Of course, these icy forces couldn’t harm a high-level lich that no longer had a physical body—undead creatures were generally immune to cold damage. However, if the icy principles contained within were strong enough, they could freeze its soul flame!
The magic ship continued flying toward the northwest. As Chikofield had said, mutated elemental creatures like ice elves were extremely rare. After traveling dozens of miles, no further ice elves were seen.
Soon, Donald and the others approached their target location. But Donald controlled the magic ship to stop at a distance of several miles from it.
Carlisle asked in confusion, “Haven’t we arrived yet? Why did we stop?”
Donald pointed to a spot in the crystal ball projection and said, “Take a look yourself!”
At the spot Donald indicated was a vast iceberg shaped like an irregular pyramid—far larger than the largest pyramids on Earth in his past life.
Compared to the icebergs they had encountered before, this pyramid-shaped iceberg was exceptionally clear and translucent, as if it were artificially created. Even through the thick ice layer, one could faintly see a vast expanse of darkness far below, with what appeared to be the outlines of a city.
“Have we found it? That’s the tomb of the Great Archmage, the Sky City—”
Everyone became excited upon seeing this sight. Even the high-level lich, who had lost most human sensations, felt its soul flame ripple.
It was then that Carlisle saw the area where Donald was standing and exclaimed in astonishment, “What is this? Another ice elf?”
At the halfway point of the pyramid-shaped iceberg was a platform with clear signs of human carving. On the platform sat a tiny human-shaped ice figure, looking very similar to the ice crystal they had seen before.
Calling it tiny was only because of the distant observation from the magic ship and the comparison with the pyramid-shaped iceberg. In reality, Donald estimated that this ice elf was at least a hundred feet tall. Just by sitting there, it already occupied half of the platform, which could accommodate five magic ships—proving just how enormous it was!
Donald said with some awe, “We were just talking about the ice elf lord, and now we have to confront him directly!”

It seems this Ice Spirit Lord regards this glacier as his lair, and that platform is likely the entrance to the pyramid-shaped iceberg, leading to the Great Archmage’s tomb.
