Chapter 404: Ice Spray

From several miles away, those on the magic ship could see the uniqueness of this giant elemental creature. It was obvious that this was none other than the formidable Ice Spirit Lord.

If they had encountered him in a normal place, avoiding him would have been enough. But now, he was blocking the entrance to the area beneath the iceberg. To reach the mausoleum created by the Archmage beneath the iceberg, they had to deal with him first!

“Carlisle, it’s up to you to take care of this guy! It would be best if you could eliminate him, but if not, at least lure him away from the platform so that the battle doesn’t destroy our entrance.”

“Don’t worry! My Blood Demon Sword hasn’t even seen blood yet! This giant will make a perfect sacrifice for it!”

Carlisle, who had yet to engage in a true battle against a peer since obtaining his secondary artifact, was already brimming with determination. Even without Donald’s orders, he would have volunteered!

Donald then said to everyone, “After Carlisle distracts the Ice Spirit Lord, we’ll go up to the platform first, and then deal with him together!”

After everyone left, Donald retracted the magic ship and they swam toward the pyramid-shaped iceberg.

Perhaps due to his immense strength, the Ice Spirit Lord was slow to sense threats. By the time everyone had reached the foot of the pyramid iceberg, he still hadn’t noticed them.

“Go!”

Donald gave Carlisle a glance. Instantly, Carlisle leaped upward, using quick movements to reach the halfway point of the iceberg, which was at least a thousand feet high.

With the power of his sword energy, Carlisle, who moved like a ghost, quickly closed the distance to within a hundred feet of the ice crystal giant and stepped onto its platform.

It was only then that the Ice Spirit Lord realized the intruders were approaching. With a rumbling sound, it raised an arm as tall as a building, its palm the size of a basketball court, aiming to swat Carlisle away—considering him just a tiny insect disturbing its rest, ready to kill him with one strike.

To the Ice Spirit Lord’s surprise, this little insect was incredibly agile. Before its palm could even land, Carlisle had disappeared and reappeared on its arm.

A golden sword energy blade, tinged with blood-red light, was released from Carlisle’s dark red long sword. That concentrated blade instantly severed one of the ice crystal giant’s palms along with its wrist.

A giant ice palm, as big as a small mountain, rolled down the iceberg with a rumbling sound.

“Ugh—”

Elemental beings like the Ice Spirit Lord lack nervous tissue, so they naturally don’t feel pain. However, their bodies must be fueled by a portion of their own energy to keep their ice-crystal bodies functioning. Thus, losing a hand means losing some of that energy, and they feel anger emanating from their soul!

So despite having no vocal organs, this mutated elemental lord still emits a shrill scream from its massive mouth, which has no function for eating. This sound is produced by the icy vapor released from its body passing through its mouth, similar to the whistle of an old steam train. It emits a huge pale blue mist several meters in diameter and dozens of meters long. Once this mist comes into contact with air, it makes a cracking sound, forming countless ice crystals. From a distance, it looks like a giant stick stuck in the mouth of an ice crystal giant.

Watching the pale blue column of mist freeze the surrounding air into an ice rod, Carlisle wiped sweat from his brow in relief. Luckily, he reacted quickly and dodged in time; otherwise, he would have become part of that ice rod. Though his legendary strength might spare him death, he would still suffer greatly!

Realizing that the Ice Spirit Lord was too powerful to fight, and that even three or five legendary warriors might not be able to defeat it without proper countermeasures, Carlisle launched two more sword beams, inflicting additional wounds on the opponent’s body made of steel-hard ice crystals.

This provocation finally enraged the Ice Spirit Lord. A wave of cold light surged across its body, drawing cold air and water elements from the surroundings into it. Its severed wrist regenerated at a visible speed, while the two deep wounds on its chest healed in less than a breath.

Feeling restored, the ice crystal giant stood up instantly. Its hundred-foot-tall stature exerted immense pressure on its enemies. Encouraged by Carlisle’s provocations, the enraged Ice Spirit Lord was lured off the platform.

Upon closer inspection, it could be seen that the newly restored parts of the Ice Spirit Lord’s body were slightly lighter in color, clearly only temporarily reformed. Their strength and durability paled in comparison to the ice crystal body tempered by the power of ice over countless years.

In that case, this monster isn’t truly invincible—it can merely recover its body multiple times due to its environment. Its weakness, like that of other elemental creatures, lies in its core; once that’s destroyed, no matter how powerful it is, it will be reduced to nothing! The others remained in place after Carlisle launched his attack, waiting until the Ice Spirit Lord was lured away from the platform on the mountain slope before using Donald’s teleportation spell to instantly arrive on the mid-mountain platform. As soon as they reached the platform, they felt the cold there was many times stronger than at the foot of the mountain. Apart from a huge entrance large enough for a dragon to pass through, there was nothing else. “Senior Chikofield, you stay here and prevent the Ice Spirit Lord from reaching the platform, so it can’t destroy the entrance. My teacher and I, along with King Celt I, will go to support Carlisle!” Donald, the initiator of this operation, quickly made the most appropriate arrangements. After becoming a lich, Chikofield was most skilled in spells related to cold and necromancy, so he couldn’t deal effective damage to the Ice Spirit Lord, which had already surpassed ordinary legendary levels. All of them were battle-hardened and experienced, quickly taking up their best positions. King Celt I once again transformed into his golden knight armor, his Sword of Glory emitting a blazing light. While Carlisle fought the Ice Spirit Lord, he created opportunities for Donald and his apprentice, the two mages, to strike. With these two legendary fighters holding back the enemy, even Mesel, who was only at the Golden level, had enough time to prepare suitable spells to inflict serious or even fatal damage on the Ice Spirit Lord. Not to mention Donald, the unconventional legendary archmage! “Boom!” With a combination of an eighth-level spell and a seventh-level spell cast by Donald and his apprentice, they successfully shattered one of the Ice Crystal Giant’s legs. Before it could regain balance and grow a new leg, Carlisle and King Celt I seized the opportunity to sever its two arms, the remaining leg, and its head. Having witnessed the power of the ice frost blasts before, they certainly wouldn’t let this creature spray cold air again and regain its mobility.
