Chapter 0348: Arrival at the Trial Island
“Hehe, that’s not necessarily the case, Harris. Spindu and Feid are no less strong than him,” said Bishop humbly, though his words were modest while his expression couldn’t hide his pride.
Harris, Spindu, and Feid were the three strongest among those participating in the trials. Their strengths were nearly equal, all at the peak of Level 7 of the Underworld King. Generally, in past trials, the top three spots were always taken by these three.
Harris was a descendant of Boris, the second eldest of the Runing family. Spindu, on the other hand, was a junior descendant of Devitt, the sixth eldest. Such trial opportunities were rare, and since the elders had to nominate candidates, they usually chose descendants from their own factions—those who were generally the strongest and most talented among all the participants.
The third eldest, Barret, smiled and said, “That’s true.” Then he turned to Kennedy, the clan leader who had remained silent until then, and asked, “Clan leader, will it be safe for Huang Hai to enter the Trial Island?” Huang Hai was someone whom Susan, the main god of the Runing family, had instructed to be given special care. If he died on the Trial Island, it could cause serious problems!
It wasn’t surprising that Barret was worried. In his view, Huang Hai was only at the level of a mid-tier god, in the later stages. Even the weakest primal beast on the Trial Island was slightly stronger than him.
“There shouldn’t be any major problems,” said Kennedy.
“I’ve instructed Donald to give Huang Hai the family communication jade before he enters the island. If Huang Hai really faces danger, Donald will go and rescue him. Of course, if Huang Hai asks Donald for help, it would mean he’s giving up the trial halfway,” Kennedy continued calmly.
If Huang Hai asked Donald for help, it would count as relying on others’ assistance, thus violating the trial rules.
Barret nodded and said, “The clan leader has thought things through thoroughly. We were worried for no reason.”
……
Donald led the Runing family’s descendants toward the Trial Island. Along the way, they stopped in various cities belonging to the Runing family every few days to rest for a night before setting off again the next day. Of course, along the way, Huang Hai inevitably faced mockery from these descendants and threats from Feid.
As Donald led everyone on their journey, these young people dared not show any boldness. But when they stopped in certain cities, things were different. Fortunately, Chester and the chubby Francie were around, so these young people didn’t dare act too recklessly. Moreover, some of them still felt wary of the mysterious identity of Yellow Dragon.
Although their ancestors hadn’t explained the identity of this Yellow Sea descendant, they had managed to figure out something from it.
Along the way, Yellow Dragon also got to know a few of the best among those participating in the trials—such as Fedor, Harris, Spindu, and others.
Fedor turned out to be the grandson of the Grand Elder Bishop! This came as a surprise to Yellow Dragon, though it made sense. Only someone with such backing like Fedor would dare to disregard Chester, Francie, and the others. Back in the Hengyuan Realm, he even dared to secretly attack his rival Angus, seriously injuring him almost to death. Among powerful families like Runing, killing one’s own kin was a grave crime—sometimes even affecting the entire clan.
“Grand Elder Bishop,” Yellow Dragon thought to himself.
In the Runing family, normally, Kennedy, the supreme god at the highest level, rarely dealt with family affairs, and the Supreme Elder Bazel did the same. Most minor matters were handled by Grand Elder Bishop, which gave him great prestige in certain aspects.
If not for Kennedy and Bazel being supreme gods, Bishop’s status in the Runing family might not have been lower than theirs. Some of the young people even secretly referred to him as the “de facto head” of the family.
So when Yellow Dragon learned that Fedor was Bishop’s grandson, he couldn’t help but frown slightly. But that was all.
More than three months later, after a rapid journey, they finally arrived at the Trial Island.
“We’ve finally reached the Trial Island!” Francie, the chubby man beside Yellow Dragon, looked at the endless expanse of the island ahead and couldn’t help but sigh with emotion.
“Stop sighing here. You do this every time we arrive. Can’t you change?” Chester rolled his eyes and shook his head with a smile.
“Change? Hehe, you’re right. I’ll try to change this time.” Then Francie smiled and said to Yellow Dragon, “Brother Huang Hai, thank you for fulfilling my long-cherished wish. I can finally change things—so I won’t be the last one anymore.” After a pause, he joked, “You don’t know—over the years, I’ve dreamed of this every time. I wanted to come to the Trial Island, yet I was also afraid of it.”
Huang Long joked teasingly, “After the trial, you’ll have to treat me and Chester to a good meal!”
The chubby Francie patted his chest and assured with a smile, “Of course!”
“As expected, all of you are idiots and fools—even if you end up last, you still need to celebrate.” At that moment, a cold mocking voice rang out.
Huang Long frowned. Without looking, he could tell by the voice that it was Fei De.
“What’s the problem? If we like it, what does it matter to you?” Francie glared at Fei De defiantly.
Normally, he would be cautious around Fei De, but strangely, standing with Huang Long, he dared to confront him.
A cold glint flashed in Fei De’s eyes. “Fat guy, it seems your courage has grown as well.” With a hehe laugh, he added, “Well then, I won’t mind helping to make you thinner.”
“Alright, the Trial Island is right ahead,” Donald’s voice came from ahead, followed by a stop as he turned around.
All the disciples stopped in their tracks. The Trial Island was right before them, with varied expressions on their faces.
“Alright, I won’t say much more. In short, everyone, work hard to hunt as many primal beasts as possible, and the strongest ones at that.” Donald looked around at the disciples before speaking solemnly. Then he added, “There’s one more thing to remind you all—on this Trial Island, mutated primal beasts will appear. So be careful when facing their soul attacks.”
“Mutated primal beasts?!” The disciples were stunned, their expressions turning serious.
Mutated primal beasts were far stronger than ordinary ones of the same rank.
“Of course, there won’t be many upper god mutated primal beasts, so don’t worry too much. Only ten!” Donald said.
The disciples felt relieved.
Ten? The Trial Island was tens of millions of miles wide—they might not even encounter them.
But upon hearing this, Huang Long’s eyes lit up.
Ten upper god mutated primal beasts!
That was truly valuable!
“According to the rules this time, whoever captures these ten upper god mutated primal beasts will earn ten times the points for each one compared to capturing ordinary primal beasts!” Donald then revealed this news.
“What? Ten times the points for capturing one?!”, the disciples were shocked, then all their eyes burned with excitement.
They hadn’t been informed about this beforehand. They hadn’t expected that besides rewards like a year of cultivation in the Heavenly Dragon Space, double Dragon King Jade Crystals, and one trillion divine stones for the top ten, there would also be such an exciting new point system.
“Remember, upper god mutated primal beasts can only be captured, not killed!” Seeing the disciples’ excitement, Donald had to remind them again.
The Upper God Mutant Beasts—although the Runing family was willing to bring them to the Trial Island for these outstanding disciples to face as trials, it didn’t mean they were willing to let these disciples kill them. After all, every Upper God Mutant Beast was highly cherished, even by the Runing family.
“Yes, Elder Donald!” Upon hearing Donald’s words, all the disciples snapped back to reality and replied respectfully.
“Elder Donald, I have a question,” a voice rang out. Huang Long looked over and saw that it was Harris, one of the strongest among the disciples.
“Oh, what is it? Go ahead,” Donald said, turning to Harris.
“What if we capture these Upper God Mutant Beasts, how will the family handle them?” Harris asked respectfully.
After Harris spoke, all the disciples held their breath and stared at Donald.
Huang Long also looked at Donald. Ten Upper God Mutant Beasts! This was too important for him! After all, his current army of 1.2 million Mutant Beasts only included eight Upper God Mutant Beasts. If the Runing family took them back after capture, even with twenty times more points, Huang Long’s interest would greatly diminish.
Donald glanced around at the expectant faces of the disciples before suddenly smiling and saying, “The clan head said that these ten Upper God Mutant Beasts will belong to whoever captures them!”
As soon as Donald finished speaking, the disciples, no longer caring about being in front of him, began cheering.
Immediately, loud cheers filled the air.
Although there were only ten Upper God Mutant Beasts, and they were extremely powerful, not all of them might be strong enough to capture them. But that didn’t mean it was impossible—any glimmer of hope was enough!
Donald nodded in approval at the disciples’ cheers. Then, his gaze shifted to Huang Long in the crowd. Seeing Huang Long standing there with a smiling face as well, he was momentarily stunned before shaking his head and smiling. After all, seizing even this glimmer of hope depended on strength.
“Alright!” After a while, seeing that the disciples were still excitedly discussing, Donald raised his hand to silence them.
Once the disciples were quiet, Donald’s presence grew imposing. “Now, let’s enter the island! Everyone, stand on the teleportation array!”
The trials were finally about to begin!
The disciples tensed up and obediently stood on the teleportation array ahead.
Of course, they couldn’t gather together upon entering the island. The teleportation array would send them to different corners of the Trial Island.
