Chapter 62: The Underground Island – Fate Arrives at This Moment
If a person gives their heart too much, it seems as though they have no heart at all. (Gu Long)
……
The fierce wind kept blowing past Liu Yi’s ears. He was nearly unconscious. In this endless abyss, he had no strength to resist. The downward pull of the ground kept dragging him down. A sense of floating enveloped Liu Yi, and gradually, he fell asleep.
He didn’t know where he was or how much time had passed. Gradually, Liu Yi opened his eyes. When he found himself floating in midair, he began to search for an explanation.
Finally, Liu Yi saw two people facing each other ahead. He immediately realized it was a dream, that endless dream…
The Necromancer gently touched the six swords that were no longer moving with his right hand. In that instant, the six swords turned to dust. The six divine generals also turned to dust the moment their swords disappeared.
Pangu, holding his giant axe, exclaimed, “Sword-Devouring Soul-Killer.”
The Necromancer, holding a sword in his left hand, burst into wild laughter: “Haha, Pangu! All of this is because of you self-proclaimed gods who forced me into this. What I wanted was simple, but your selfish desires refused to satisfy me. So, your divine generals will pay the price.”
Pangu seemed truly enraged and shouted loudly, “Evil is evil! It has no right to bargain with gods! Now, I will reduce you to ashes!”
The Necromancer still held the long sword in his left hand and said with a smile, “Just you?”
Pangu swung his giant axe fiercely downward. With three sharp sounds, it seemed to tear through the dark space. Three beams of half-moon light shot along the ground straight at the cloaked Necromancer.
The Necromancer turned sideways, slowly bringing his right hand closer to the sword in his left. His black cloak fluttered even faster. His entire body emitted a green glow. Suddenly, he shouted, “‘Break Moon, Fall Sword’ from the ‘Four Sorrowful Styles’!”
At the same time, a white light swept across from his right hand, instantly cutting Pangu’s three beams of light into nothingness. But the Necromancer didn’t stop. He continued, “Pangu, go back to reincarnation. ‘Return Sword, No Style’ from the ‘Four Sorrowful Styles’!”
With a “click,” as the sword returned to its sheath, a sword energy faster than light in an X shape shot at Pangu. It was just a fraction of a second faster than a flash. But in that instant, there was a “bang” as the sword energy hit something. Then, a loud cracking sound followed, and the sword energy vanished without a trace.
Seeing this, the Necromancer shouted loudly, “Nüwa, come out… I didn’t expect Pangu to be so ignorant. You follow him too? He killed your daughter with his own hands. Are you all heartless stones? Don’t you feel pain?”
With a flash of golden light, a beautiful woman with a human upper body and a snake lower body appeared beside Pangu. The woman shook her head and said, “No, she isn’t dead. She’s just suffering through the trials of love over three lifetimes in the human world. Hopefully, she will gain enlightenment.”
The Necromancer stared at the two of them before suddenly seeming to remember something. He urgently asked Nüwa, “Are you saying… the Heavenly Maiden has gone to the mortal world to reincarnate?”
Nüwa nodded and said, “Yes.”
Pangu hurriedly stopped her, saying, “Why tell him these things? What if he goes through reincarnation?”
The Nie person seemed to hear Pangu’s words. He suddenly laughed loudly at the sky and snapped, “Pangu, even at the brink of death, you still don’t realize anything. Even with Nüwa here, I could easily kill you both, but I won’t do that because I, the Nie person, am not a narrow-minded one!”
Suddenly, the Nie person’s body emitted red light, which slowly spread outward, growing larger and more intense…
Pangu demanded sharply, “Nie person, what are you doing?”
The Nie person laughed loudly at the sky, “Haven’t you always wanted me to die? Fine, I’ll go through the cycle of the three realms now. I won’t leave her alone. Through the suffering of three lifetimes, as a demon, I will accompany her forever. Even if the world collapses and the galaxies fall, the Nie person will have no regrets! One day, I will break your gods’ laws!”
Suddenly, the Nie person was surrounded by a red light and began to fall, falling…
Liu Yi shouted loudly, “Where are you going? Where…?” Suddenly, with Liu Yi’s cry, he sat up. Who was this Nie person? Why did he seem so familiar? Liu Yi looked at the glowing jade around his neck and thought to himself, “The last piece. As long as I get the last jade, this secret will be revealed.”
Liu Yi looked around. It turned out that beneath this bottomless abyss was a large pool—whether it was a sea or a lake was unclear. The light here came from above, making it hard to see clearly. The area around it resembled a small island. What surprised Liu Yi even more was that there was a secret chamber deep underground, which was already a miracle; now there was even an island here. It was truly unimaginable.
Liu Yi sat down and thought, “I must have fallen into the middle of the water earlier and been washed here by the waves. Otherwise, I would have died long ago.” Liu Yi felt a bit cold and stood up, only to realize that something was wriggling beside him. Looking down, he saw a red object the size of a fist, with no head or tail in sight.
Liu Yi chased after the red object. After about fifteen minutes, he finally saw what it was! It was indeed a snake—a red snake only as thick as a fist but over a hundred meters long.
Liu Yi wondered why the snake hadn’t attacked him as it passed by. A snake this long was truly unheard of.
Suddenly, Liu Yi noticed the snake’s body behind it moving violently a few times. As the front part of the snake moved backward, it actually flew up. At that moment, Liu Yi heard human voices. He finally understood—this snake had spotted another prey first.
Suddenly, Liu Yi thought, “If this snake eats that person, will it turn its attention to me?” That couldn’t happen. He had barely survived; he couldn’t let this beast eat him. Liu Yi urged himself to think of a solution quickly.
This snake is so long! I’ve never seen one like this before—it’s clearly a different species. Right… Liu Yi’s eyes suddenly lit up. Since the snake is so long, he could just find its tail and use the sharp resin to pin it to the ground, then practice shooting with his “Jade Flower Finger.” Thinking this way, Liu Yi had to force himself to use his brain effectively.
Dashing into the nearby woods, Liu Yi found a dozen hard, thick, and sharp branches. He ran back while chuckling. The sound ahead came from a woman fighting. Could it be Jiliel? Liu Yi thought suddenly, but after listening for a while, he realized it wasn’t her. He had to hurry—what if the woman gave up? Then he too would end up in the snake’s belly.
Liu Yi kept running back. By then, the whole body of the snake had emerged. He kept searching for its tail, but when he finally saw it, he was stunned. Damn it! This snake had no tail, and there was another snake head at the back—just sleeping. In the center of its tongue was a red gemstone that looked like a diamond.
Liu Yi immediately stepped back a few times. Thankfully, the creature at the back hadn’t woken up yet. He was now confused—what should he do? Looking at the branch in his hand, should he stab it in the middle? If both snake heads attacked him at once, that would be disastrous. Use his “Jade Flower Finger” on this head? But if it didn’t kill it, he’d be in big trouble. Run? But if the woman got eaten soon, where could he go? This was a small island after all.
Liu Yi gathered intense true energy. Now, with his “Jade Flower Finger,” he could shoot two beams of energy in succession. He thought to himself, “Let’s take a gamble.” The red gemstone on that snake head might be its weak point. His true energy grew stronger and stronger. Looking at the black water behind him, he felt determined: “Fight to the end—or perish. Come on!”
“Swish, swish”—two beams of jade-colored energy, mixed with the scent of roses, shot toward the middle of the red snake. With a “crack,” there was a loud sound of shattering. Immediately afterward, the snake head moved, opened its eyes, let out a shrill scream, and shot upward. The tongue at the back stopped moving. The snake head lashed around like a whip—obviously in great pain, acting in its death throes.
What Liu Yi didn’t know was that this snake was an ancient mythical beast called the “Thread Snake.” As an adult, it could be over 300 meters long, with two snake heads, each having a red gemstone in the center—its vital point. Although the Thread Snake had two heads, it could only use one at a time. If it used the front head, the back head would stop functioning, and vice versa. To protect the unused head from attacks, the Thread Snake usually hid it.
Perhaps thinking no one was here today, it had carelessly left its back head exposed—only to find someone there!
And so, the red Thread Snake met a tragic end at the hands of Liu Yi’s “Jade Flower Finger”…
Liu Yi stepped aside, watching the long snake struggle. Suddenly, a familiar voice beside him said, “It’s you…”
